I like the fact, that specimens' purpose is not to make your playthrough harder, but to make you run in fright.

If you play the game on Halloween (I think both versions will work), you'll notice Spooky has her costume. She'll revert to normal once midnight passes, even in the middle of a game. There might be more quirks, but we'll have to wait a couple weeks to test them!

sadly, this isn't the case anymore. And it never was _just_ on Halloween. She would always wear her costume *every day* during the month of October. This was the case from 2015-2019. She even wore her costume on October 1, 2020, but when The Doll House DLC was released the next day, the base game also received a small update, but that update caused her costume to no longer exist and it was just normal Spooky. Ever since then, she has never worn her costume...not even on Halloween. I even let Kira know about this a few years ago, and they replied with "oof". I doubt it will ever be fixed. She doesn't wear her costume in HD either, but it's something the devs of that version might add in a future update. I know they are working on trying to get her to wear her nurse outfit in HD's Karamari Hospital though.

@@evillecaston you can blame v3.0.2. That's the one that caused so many bugs in the game. It's the version you can easily access debug mode. Basically that version was the base of a much older version before Specimen 5's death scene even existed.

Something interesting that I've picked up on in Howard's Room...that note on the table. "This was such a surprise. That there would be another entry. Another actual entry. One I could admire. But then as it suddenly came, it left. And now you disband. Your influence and inspiration will never leave me." This may be a message left by the creator, Akuma Kira, referring to the surprise he felt with how effective that little demo was in horror, and the sad acceptance he felt when Konami axed off the production of the next entry of Silent Hill. It kinda adds onto the whole P.T. reference Howard's Room was invoking in a depressing, meta way.

I never knew about those funky freaks under 5’s grates- it’s wonderful to have a fascinating new face for the cast! They were just hangin’ out this whole time!

I love the easter eggs in this game, also the teeth as the title got me the first time, it happend the second time I booted up the game XD

You can tell the creator loves secrets, eastereggs, and just hidden things in general above all else. That Kyubey portrait was a nice homage, as the cute exterior but horrifying interior of this game had to be inspired from somewhere.

He actually can appear in the dollhouse dlc under specific circumstances. But it's more of a cutscene

The specimen 9 origin theory about them "nailing" the logs makes even more sense when you remember those weird body pillars 9 attacks you with

5:44 I like the little tidbit of lore that Howard was the only specimen to have scared Spooky, and is probably what made her obsessed with jumpscares in the first place.

Though I know many of the things presented, I'm still shocked to learn that there were things I've never seen before, such as the creatures in room 210 or the Mall of the Spook easter egg. Will you be covering Karamari and Dollhouse secrets as well?

admittedly, I didn’t know about both of those either. I was amazed to discover those creatures under the grates…and it’s in *both* versions. It’s something that’s easy to miss, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a playthrough of anyone noticing them. Yes! I’ll be making videos for each DLC in the coming months.

The mall of the spook thing kinda freaks me out, just not knowing its been there for so long. I play mall of the spooky nearly EVERY time I encounter the arcade room.

Every time I see the secret Cat-Dos entries and get reminded of Paina it always makes me think what happened to AKDO (a.k.a. Akuma Kira's Day Off). Kira even either deleted or delisted the game's trailer off their channel and the only info I can find for it is some random youtubers who got early versions of the game for testing and showing off and a page for it on a site called "Indie DB" and there you can actually view the trailer still. I wish I knew why it was probably cancelled and got to know what was the plot of the game cause those youtubers I mentioned who showed off the early version of the game showed the demo's ending and it was... strange... and not knowing the plot intrigues me greatly tbh.

In the classroom, I saw the Miku drawing and the Kyubey poster and thought, "Oh sweet! Some of these kids must be into Vocaloid and Madoka Magica! New friend time!" Cue me accidentally getting too close to one of the ghost kids and getting hurt. I was all so ticked off like, "Jeez, so much for that idea!"

The Howard thing is probably the thing that scared me the most so far ingame.

I actually didn’t realise Howard's room was a P.T reference until another video about this game pointed it out to me but it all makes sense now and it's genius. The note went from making no sense to making all the sense in the world

I clicked because of Kyubey the incubator! His thing is fascinating to look at, and maybe we could exploit that creature in some ways for our benefits, like separating the essence to not feel pain or hide it from other creatures who steal souls, cuz the sealed essence shape is a good disguise! But still, *DO NOT THROW SOULS!!!* He taught us about the souls of ours being our true bodies, thus encouraging and making us NOT to make Faustian bargains even more!

I like Whiteface flashing on the title screen. Just a real nice way to rub it in that it murdered you. About 2 months ago I watched a Wendigoon video on Unit 731, it was beyond horrifying, and is a really interesting Easter Egg too put in the game. All of this and more is why I call you the Yoda of Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion!

I remember the first time I made it past Room 1800 and was on my way to Room 2000 and he ended my run in Room 1862. My soul left my body and I went to the main menu and saw his cheeky little face popping up the screen as a way to rub it in that he caused my unfortunate demise. It was the biggest insult I had ever received from this game. I'll never forgive him for that. Unit 731 is honestly one of the coolest references I've ever seen in ANY game. That's why Specimen 9 is a top-tier specimen. Akuma Kira really outdid themselves when coming up with the lore for him!

I used to watch Band-aid Boy a looong time ago, he renamed his channel to Smeckly, but for some reason he deleted all his videos, and there is no way to watch his old videos anymore 😢 Anyone knows something why he deleted all his stuff? AAAAHHH. So THAT'S what he changed his name to. When I was making this video I spent days looking for his playthrough of Spooky's but couldn't find it, because I knew he had changed his name to something else but couldn't remember. I knew it started with an S, but that didn't help much. Especially since you said he deleted his videos. Such a shame, I'm glad I got to watch his playthrough of this game a few years ago though.

Regarding his let's plays, yeah i'm also glad I could enjoy his videos, watched them multiple times, but I still have no idea why he deleted all his work, it's really sad. That brain is the scariest one. I was watching a random video on the game and then someone activated it. I stayed up late and eventually had a dream about it that was diftto wake up from. Dream is below. Dream: It started off small with just me trying to survive in a building and then a spec ops team came to try and rescue me and my family. Then I took a flashbang to the face and passed out. I woke up, face swollen, and I'm at my grandma house. I walk into the living room and look out the window. Nothing but chaos. Take the tripods from war of the world and replace the head with a brain and the legs with intestines and probably people (i don't remember by heart). This thing was taking missiles from helicopters and smacking them out of the air. The worse part of the story is that my family was no where to be seen. Not even the car. The story ends here and sadly there was no part 2. Crazy how something from a game gave me a nightmare that I will never forget. I would make this a story but I suck at that.

I've revisited this game so many times ever since it was released, both through playthroughs, videos, series from youtubers, and yet I still learn some new things about it, there will never be another Spooky's House of Jumpscares, sadly... it saddens me that this game's era is over after the dollhouse DLC, sure the Create Your Mansion will eventually come out, but no fanmade mansion will have the unique charm and appeal Akuma Kira gave to the main game... also DOORS is not and will never be a remotely good successor

The specimen 9 boss fight was also in the shadows gmod map but with a diff story and a slightly change setup yet the attacks stayed the same only change were long pink tentacles instead of the monsters specimen 9 summon

I did know most of these. I think the only ones I didn't know where the japanese ones, the "logs" (as in what it meant), and the mall of spook one.

I really liked those details, Easter Eggs even and to be honest? I haven't known about the most of them until you showed them for us. Thank you ❤ For me, I know about Teeth and Spooky Title screen "Easter Egg", however, I didn't know about White Face at all. Nor about that monster inside of a vent or about the door being able to "kill you" lol. Or even Taker's numbers of victims it killed! Speaking of Specimen 9 (Taker - only his head/ skull version), *HOW DARE YOU-* I was actually depressed all day. And okay, you *did* warn me he'd make an appearance around at least 3% of the video but I was depressed all day and yet I was too stupid to watch this video still, even Taker when it appeared in your videos? Wow, kudos to me 😅😂 ... I got literal goosebumps. And it scared me so much and made me very uncomfortable no matter how many times have I seen Taker roaming around. Oof ... But Deer Lord was once again by my side. At least he got to show me an add about deer so I calmed a little 😅 ... I love him. The foggy room that has the portraits are an incredible addition. I remember playing when it wasn’t added. But when it did and I saw @JELlegendz I was really happy because his first video of the game is what made me learned about the game’s existence. from what I remember seeing in the code, there's a 1 in 6 chance of getting one of the three easter egg title screens. So the odds of getting that particular one four times in a row is actually very rare.

How the FUCK did I never know about the things under the grates in Specimen 5's lair? Is that not in the HD version? Because I mostly play on HD because I prefer using the PS4. I remember several instances throughout the game where in random rooms, I'd think, "Haha, wouldn't it be freaky if there was something watching down in that black void below?" or "Wouldn't it be cool if a head or something was poking out of the green slime for a split second before diving back down?" Kinda feels like exactly what I wanted. Mozart is definitely my favorite random scare. I wish he were more present in the HD version, you only see him for a second there. Spookier I guess, but still. I never knew about the arcade easter egg either! Very funny.
