Great tutorial. thanks for breaking it down. One thing ..on the g chord of the chorus, I think they "walk" the bass note down one fret before going to the e chord.
Very well done.

This is the first time seeing this video...prior to seeing it, I have worked on My Favorite mistake...no tab...just by ear and watching and listening to the audio in the videos of Cheryl Crow and band playing it...the tricky part for me was the bridge...where they were going with the chord changes...Bm to Bb to F to G...etc...it's a way cool progression...and there are some details that are within the "Did you know? Could you tell you were the only one..." section...and what I call the "bop baddaaaa-bah" lick...how to voice that properly...it's done in octaves...there are a few what I call "ear candy treats" that if a person isn't paying attention, they may miss them, or "mistakenly" deem them unimportant to take the time to figure them out...which some listeners might not notice, others subconsciously notice, and others blatantly notice, but not really bug them too much that it isn't there...I suppose it depends on how much time you have to spend to get it as close as possible to the studio cut...I will say that this song has chord inversions and things done in it that are absolutely NOT how I naturally play...not everywhere in it, but it is absolutely the case, nonetheless...still haven't watched this video...going to now...thanks in advance for taking the time to do it, and hope you and yours are doing fantastic.
Excellent Ryan thanks

Great song. Thanks for sharing! We had an entire show based around covers of my favorite ladies of music including Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Dolores O'Riordan, Heart, Aimee Mann, Bonnie Raitt, and Britney Spears. This song was one that was always requested.

it was subsequently stuck in my head for a whole week
Main riff (boom, chock, hammer, ting) 2:30 Chorus 5:17 Bridge 7:02
Nobody mentions the slide into the intro? The slide is the very first thing you hear. I mighty add that this should be staright forward on the drums as well, It sounds like a simple money beat with a double kick on 3 with 8th notes on the closed hi-hat. I am learning drums now but ryan keeps pulling my strings here.

Fun fact about this song, Wendy from Prince's band recorded the original guitar track with a Tele, a Tweed Twin, a slapback delay, and a compressor. That's it.

Love the sliding coily sound of a bracelet or ring or something sliding along the wound string - heard it since I was a little one in the back of a Ford Explorer
Your choice of descriptive sound words was fantastic today. I will go tell my mom and end it with a beeeeu. Or however you spell it. P.s. I think you're growing into a thumb guy right before our eyes.

My guilty pleasure. Actually, in my car I'll tell Android Auto to "Play Cheryl Crow" with the whole family in there, I'm not embarrassed. I really like the electric guitar tone on her records. Last week though I was alone in the car and played Whitney Houston for like 45 minutes while running errands around town ;-) I made a mental note to try to learn that sax solo in "I Will Always Love You" by ear on the guitar, should be a fun ear training session.

Great lesson, started off very easy to follow then half way through you crancked it up to what is for me, light speed, calling out numbers all over the place. Then you slowed it back down a bit. Maybe I shouldn't be attempting this sort of thing as a relertive beginer. It's just the normal stuff doesn't really appeal to me.
@RyanLendt

you should definitely be attempting this sort of thing, just not to the point of complete frustration :)

@RyanLendt it's a lot more enjoyable than perfecting wonderwall. I don't fully understand chord progression yet but I can hear the variations on simple chords that add so much nuance, learning how to do them is very interesting.
