You don't know if he would do better without. Nadal is even expressing contracting emotions about them. First he denies that it's OCD (because OCD is regarded in a negative way). Later on he says he rather be without them but it helps him focus. Any other ritual than the cold shower is just a stupid waste of mental energy.
Rituals do calm your nerves. It has been observed that after engaging in rituals the neurological response to errors is significantly reduced. The activity level in the anterior cingulate cortex, namely nuerological signal Error Related Negativity, become less intense after performing rituals. Whether this phenomenon can be defined as a OCD condition is simply subjective.
Sorry, but there is simply way too many quirky rituals to be considered sane. I actually had no idea how many there are. Crazy.
Those are just rituals, devils rituals in your face. Has nothing to do with lucky or concentration.
They are just a way for Nadal to cheat
