I’m so glad Malte recognized Felix. His performance was incredible, and I don’t get why he was overlooked for nominations. I think Malte is right that Felix’s performance is a big part of what makes the movie great and why it was so heavily recognized during Awards season. The other aspects of the film were great in themselves (cinematography, score, etc), but would a German-language film have been so recognized if not for such a stunning performance from its star? I’m not sure about that. Anyway, I’m so happy this film won, congrats to everyone involved!!

All Quiet on the Western Front is a great film with awesome directing, score, production design, and cinematography!

When we received the first cut at Netflix, I immediately knew this was coming. The film blew me away. Standing ovations to everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece 👏

Can we please give some credit to Albrecht Schuch? He's one of Germany's best actors at the moment and I really hope to see him on screen more often.

Saw this in the cinema and wow what a brilliant movie. I love how it was such a layered story which showed how out of touch those sending these men to war were from the reality.

War. War never changes.

I had seen the film on netflix as well and the film is played so real by good actors. And the good thing it shows exactly how the young men were cheated by the propaganda in the WWI , just like in the WWII by the propaganda , school etc. So many innocent young men had to die, it`s break your heart. War is just cruel and pointless.

happy for them, it is based on such a great book, but i TAR should have won... even more than Blanchett imo... TAR, a genious different film that demands an inconvenient adulthood from all of us

I'm glad they won but why polarize the audience right from the start with the politics of war. It's not just one side that enables it.

Well he was right in that particular case, but it also fits into the current political narrative to make such a statement. Entertainment award ceremonies are very left wing.

nobody cares about bafta. Oscars is the film industry gold standard all around the world. everybdy that is working in film industry around the world dreams to win an oscar. if they tell you that oscar is not important, then they are probably lying to you.

"Who poisoned by right wing political nationalist propaganda" I mean I loved the movie but come on. What does this have to do with right wing propaganda? Back in those days you had people fighting out of patriotism no matter if they were right-wing or left-wing. Just shows his extremely low IQ if he thinks patriotism is a right-wing only thing.
