    Listen it's really awesome to see the new tech and polaris pushing limits but, like we are seeing at this price point of the northstar at $49,599 US ( not including taxes, title, and dealer mark ups)you could honestly go get a really nice truck and make it more capable. I love seeing new stuff but, they really are forgetting about the demographic they used to target.

Unfortunately this price range is very high for a vehicle that cannot be considered street legal in Canada. If you could jump in this machine and go into a larger urban center, then I would consider it. Great review as always!!!!

    The hate on price is crazy. I think a lot of people forget that just cuz a company comes out with a cool new product, it doesnt always mean they are getting out of another market. Adding to their line up is never a bad thing. Its not their fault many customers have a fine wine taste on a beer budget. People can set their own budget. 15-25k goes a long way in the sxs market. That hasent changed. People just want more. And the reason they want nore is cuz it exists. You go back 15 years and nobody would have even guessed the market would be as diverse as it is. The more demographics these manufacturers can hit, the larger the customer base becomes. And the larger the customer base gets, the more support the industry as a whole will get. Keep up the good work dirttrax. Ill keep checking your videos out. Helps keep me up to date on new products for when customers ask for more info.

    I can understand what your saying, but disagree. The hate on price in my opinion is the lack of quality when comparing it to other vehicles in its price range. You would need to have a very specific reason to buy this vehicle or just don’t value money. I just recently checked this vehicle out in person and while there’s no doubt I would happily trade my 2020 XP 1000 for it, the price is outrageous. To make it clear right now, May 22, the sticker price is a whooping $57,589 CDN. A Ford Ranger is $20,000 less, an actual road worthy truck. So, how crazy is the hate on the price really?

    Great video. One thing I wanted to clear up is the 4x4 modes. Can Am Defender has had a multimode 4 wheel drive system since its been released in 2016. In the Defenders you have two switches one for 2wd and 4wd, then a separate switch next to it for the rear diff lock. Nice to see Polaris finally doing it also.

    Love to see the OEM’s innovating as at the end of the day, we the consumer wins… to a point. That point has to do with pricing. At a certain point, which I believe they have reached with the higher end models, they are now competing with the Wranglers and Tacomas etc.. I have a 2023 CanAm Defender Max Limited and I thought long and hard about just getting a base model Tacoma because I can do pretty much anything with one of those as I can with the Defender and have it be my daily driver to boot if I wanted. Love all these machines but the price is outstripping the value pretty quickly. Great job as always on the video.

    What a great unit. Will note on some comments about pricing. Manufacturers don’t go out and make these machines on a whim. They ask and listen to customers and what they want and push to be the best or first. This costs money, R and D costs a ton of money. Without this we would be at a stand still. They build them for for what the end user asks for. Expensive yea, but a base Ford XLT costs $60,000, used to be $30,000 not that long ago. This is a huge step in the right direction to have a “3/4” unit and leading edge cab, motor and transmission. It’s good for a lot of consumer’s, not all of them. Excellent review as always.

  • @suzie9874

    @suzie9874

    R and D is something that matters nothing to me. That is on the company and should never be pushed off onto the customers. How do you add in that R and D cost. After you have made back the R and D cost. Are you going to lower the price of the product ??? Or keep charging the same price. People now days blindly accept this added in. And it is just wrong on all levels. Another thing. I could not careless about these companies. They are all the same. None are your friends and all want to separate you from your money. And the more they can separate you from. The more they will charge. So yeah i do not care what the R and D costs are. And they should be kept out of the price of the product.

    Ive been following the release of this new generation Polaris ATV with interest. I have an XP900 and an XP1000 North Star, both are fantastic vehicles and very capable, but lack some durability for conditions on an Australian farm. The 1500XD wont be released in Australia until the end of the year, but although I am excited as it looks like it will overcome the durability issues of the previous models, I am skeptical about the affordability. I paid AU$20K for my XP900 in 2016, AU$35K for my XP1000 North Star last year; given that I am hearing pricing around US$50K I imagine they will be AU$65-70 which will price them out of the market!

    @@michaeldelarm1630 that's sad. It really is. The fact that Polaris feels justified in charging more than a pickup is offensive. Thus has half the tech (hi or low), 1/4 the capacity, and $1000 more. It's robbery and anyone dishing out that money for fitting in a trail is silly. This should be no more than $25-30k CAD for the Northstar. Polaris has raised it pricing on the sportsman 850's $2k in 1.5 years. Zero improvements. Same machine as always. As someone who comes from automotive manufacturing, I can tell you first hand the pricing is greed. The cost to manufacture goes down over time not up. If you make a fender mold for $100k, each additional unit sold lowers that initial investment per machine. There is no excuse to increase the price $2000 on a 7+ year old design. $3000+ to the touring, which is the old body style 13 years old. Flat out robbery.

    @@EC_ATV_Outdoors It's completely out of control. Used to be almost anybody could afford a decent ATV, and having a Ranger or Mule wasn't anything fancy. Ten years ago I could go into a Yamaha shop and get work done on my motorcycle same day. Now I can't even get a shade tree mechanic to work on an ATV for a month they're so backed up. SXS's are neat, don't get me wrong - when I first rode the Rhino 660 I knew good things were coming. I just didn't imagine it would become the country boy badge of honor alongside the jacked up 2500 diesel. There seems to be no limit to the end of this insane ATV/UTV market despite banks tightening up credit lending, stagnant wages, rampant inflation and these ever increasing prices. Don't get me started on the used market, you can't find anything worthwhile. Everything is rode hard and put up wet. Everything is trashed, needs maintenance or hardcore fixing which once again means you're month+ out on mechanic work of being able to ride, and they still want 10-20k for these abused models.

If Polaris didn’t sell any high priced models they wouldn’t build any. Obviously there’s a market for them. If you don’t like the cost buy a 570 Ranger, pay $17,000 (CAN) and be happy with it…. Let the people who can afford these things have fun on em. I don’t know, I just don’t care how much they are cause I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on one…. Can it actually ford water above the bottom of the cab/doors without filling up like a colander dropped in a sink. Will the suspension bushings still wear out in 250 miles? Will I have to pull off the wheels to grease the wheel bearings after every ride? Will I still have to replace the wheel bearings once a year. Will the carrier bearing explode in less than 1000 miles? Are the brake rotors small with undersized calipers and paper thin pads?

I bet they're gonna sell like hot cakes. Trucks are too heavy to do what these do. Also the way the driveline works in these units is better for off road applications.
