I like that pretty much all fire equipment is made by firemen, for fireman. Nobody knows the requirements of the job better than the workers themselves. Unfortunately, the military doesn't understand that concept.

The multilayer, coated handle wrap seems is quite unappealing and unnecessary to me. A durable knurled cut grip on the tool surface is much preferred. Probably a cross diagonal diamond pattern would work well. Previously I had a barbell with a deep diamond pattern. The open angle grove line cuts were made so that diamonds were slightly pointed and very grippy. The manner of the cuts allowed for dirt to fall away and for ease of cleaning as needed. It could be more challenging to make a knurled pattern on a hexagonal shaped handle but, where there is a will there is a way.

Actually, the multilayered wrap is exactly necessary for the demands these tools are put through. The cross diagonal pattern is not ideal for big bulky fire gloves that will slide down the angled ridges. The Lacing Ring system falls directly parallel to fingers and base of the palm to maximize friction and ridges against the hand. Knurling on the other hand actually does not provide much grip again with gloved hands. But this may not be known for those who are not firefighters. Thanks for commenting!

I’d buy it if it were 30”. 26 is shorter then i’d like. At 30” i can get more leverage without adding another tool for leverage.

Hi Ryan, actually our 26" TSR Halligan has higher MA on the adz of the tool. You get a 17:1 MA due to the 1.5" adz. This is all done in a more compact package for tight quarters.
