I recently bought one of these, the 3.5T Sport Plus. It’s absolutely amazing. Have had so many BMW, Mercedes, and Audis, I was really looking for something different. Genesis is on a roll.

Hi David, have you test-driven the 2.5T? Does it struggle with acceleration? Also, after a few months now, how is everything going?

If this was for sale in Ireland I'd buy it. Love the design, no fake exhausts, no shiny black plastic surfaces. Really nice design all round.

In my opinion it is the best suv in this segment. Gorgeous, elegant looks inside and out. Interior materials are perfect. The 3.5TT engine is a gem and perfect for this heavier vehicle. Well done Genesis

Before, the stelvio was for me the best suv D- E. Now my favourite D-E suv is this car, i love it

Great review, really informative. I had a GV70 Luxury Line for a test drive a couple of weeks ago, was fantastic even on the 21inch wheels rode really well. Love the GV80 but for me it's the GV70. You get so many looks and people let you into traffic because they're looking so much which is a free added bonus...😁

I saw a white interior on a white colour GV70 on KZread, gorgeous.

The beautiful flat integration of head and tail lamps is a lost art to Detroit and Japan. It is so clean and modern compared to Cadillac and Lincoln, two direct competitors. True Genesis has some years to go before establishing a reputation but it will, just as surely as BMW has been eroding theirs.

Hyundai, Kia and genesis are doing good these days

It was sooooo good to see a German praising a non-German car. Thank you for being honest. GV70 is an amazing vehicle and I just can't wait to get my hands on it.

Here in Australia Genesis offers 5 years warranty and 5 years free servicing. They even pickup the car for service and leave a loan car with you!

Great review. I reserved mine 2.5T Advanced Trim B/B back in August, should be arriving on 11/4, I can't wait. I have been watching lots of GV70 reviews, so by the time the car gets here I should know everything there is to know. I did test drive the 3.5T, it is a great car, but it is hard to really get into it, since it was not mine and really did not get a chance to view all the options.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE this Genesis GV70 and very much looking to buying one sometime in 2022, Love your videos mate and I do live in Australia Melbourne and will be getting the Melbourne grey colour.

I think German machine engineering is the best but recent Korean cars are trying to catch up in very fast pace.. Well done, Genesis

What Thomas the German may not realize is that his final words on a vehicle has more influences in North America than in Europe. Thomas's review is final. He really likes GV70. No wonder GV70 is selling like hot cakes in California. When it comes to review of a Machine, no one does better than Germans. Two thumbs up.

I really really hope they will start selling Genesis in Belgium. I would trade my BMW for one of these immediately. However this won't happen, Eu car manufacturers are scared to loose a big portion of their sales. So yeah, I will keep on dreaming...

Thomas - Thanks for giving this one your thorough going over. I will be seriously considering this vs. another Audi (they don't have cars to sell due to the chip shortage and I am not overpaying for a car I don't truly want). The four cylinder makes sense to buy but I wasn't fan of the sound (or the sound engineering) of the engine. I was surprised by the 70" inches with seats down. For me that puts this car at the top of the list of possibilities of ICE cars vs. EVs. Great review man. Now if only Genesis could do something about the no-class Hyundai dealerships. my local dealer won't be seeing me for a test drive or a buy. I tried and they failed.

They won't partner with Hyundai at all. They build up exclusive Stores (called Studios). In Germany they just opened one in Munich but there are more to come in the biggest cities in the future, according to Genesis. Furthermore you can appoint an test-drive online and they will deliver your car of wish together with an guy, who can answer your questions to an address of your choice for an test-drive.

Hyundai/Genesis is going to take over the world it seems.

I absolutely love my GV70 and don't understand why some don't like the hood. I think its a fun way to be a bit different. And you're quite right about confusing the dials. I was a bit concerned I might confuse them but not once has it happened. An amazing all around great vehicle...

12:34 what happens if you're just standing back to your trunk? Will it scrape your back? or does it watch for the foot orientation with the backupcam. When the rain pours, waiting looks like a solution to a problem that didnt exist with the kick sensor

I feel like he was a bit critical at the beginning and a bit determined to dislike it. By the end, he loved it!

No one, not even sales person at a dealership know that the Genesis has a nice feature. If you press and hold the button at the door handel you can close the opened sunroof and all opened windows of the car. Great if kids leave windows open or partially open.

All models need to have the heads up display.

It looks like a great car but unfortunately the sales process of buying directly from Genesis, either online or via one of their "studios" has completely put me off purchasing this vehicle. The website is abysmal. You can get a test drive for half an hour accompanied by a Genesis personal assistant. There are no options for an extended test drive and when you're spending 60k euros plus on a car that is a complete no no. I may be old fashioned but I prefer to buy from a dealer/garage who actually know something about the product they are selling. Car manufacturers should stick to manufacturing and let the professionals deal with retail sales and managing customer relationships.

It really is a great car. I read that the hood gap and overlap was intentionally done by Genesis as a design feature. So it’s not really an indication of quality.

Can you not attach the license plate a little lower on the front?

The hood creases and lip is suppose to show the precision and quality of their super forming. Love the extended seat cushions for us long-legged community. I like that the doors open wide. The interior is adequate, but a bit depressing. I prefer contrasting tones with lighter headliner. On the pro side is the minimalist infotainment that has a modern feel, but won't instantly age the car as it gets older (love the screen saver). It would be great if it could retract. Anyway, maybe some day a manufacture would allow buyers to add their own backgrounds along with the clock. Speaking of attention to detail, the high mounted rear view mirror that doesn't dip into the forward view like many other cars. I'm surprised there was no ambient lighting or panoramic sunroof in this one. Thanks Thomas.

@Угон Харлеев I don't like that C pillar and the way the side line curves in the back.

The service/support side is the down side of owning a Genesis car due to the shortage of parts and dealership. It sometimes take a few days to be available.

Rotary controls for media and transmission.. illogical. Should be in reverse positions. You would only need to use the transmission selector only once , whereas the media dial is in the wrong place for ease of use for multiple use during journeys...

It is understandable if this car takes sime cue from Bentley and Porsche because it's the same person who designed it. And the chasis, designed by ex BMW M division Albert Biermann

i respect your work, and being your follower for years now, you should know how to pronaunce word Hyundai by now 😀. Tip, it is not how our friends from US and UK are doing it 😉

Only Koreans pronounce it properly; not a joke.

The overextended hood looks like a mistake rather than a design choice. I thought they will change it this year. Same with all the black quilted plastic along the side and rear. Spoils an otherwise good looking car.

That ticking sound from turn-signals is very loud and annoying, but the rest is good for the price, thank you Thomas for the great review.

They got the interior spot on!! Love it, Germans are loosing the touch with interiors, with all the massive touch screens/tablets and lighting like q Christmas tree ahem mercedes

3:58 if only it would have the same metal buttons as luxury line steering wheel... an not that glossy smudgy capacity ones...

Something they need to change, the sound of turning indicator for the whole Hyundai, Kia, Genesis brands. It's just so annoying.

I really hope Genesis comes to Europe. We really need a reliable brand to compete with the moneypits German brands

the exterior of the Genesis GV70 looks pretty nice and composed, except the 3rd window and the chrome accent that comes with it. To me, it looks like the design team did not know what to put there and added that odd looking shape to the window. The quirkiness is even more highlighted by the C pillar. What an odd design choice

The turn indicator sounds toyish and quite annoying to me

As much as I like new Genesis cars they have one major flaw that stops them from being a proper premium brand - option policy. You cannot spec the car for yourself, there's zero elasticity - trims are locked, interior decor is locked and so on. You cannot choose almost every option to any configuration liek Germans allow you to do.

Q5, GLC and X3 are definitely boring and far behind in every regard. That’s it.

The hood looks like it wasn't sized properly toward the headlights. 3:28 confirms it. Not fan of the rear pillar either, else it looks very nice

It does not affect the performance ability of the headlamp. Lowering the bonnet forward is to make the upper headlamp look sharper.

Nice one. Thomas you were very modest when you said it looks weird from the side due to the glass panel behind c pillar. I think this car looks ugly and will not cause any hiccup to German suvs.

They went to the parts bin of other brands and stuck it together. Rear is pseudo Alfa Stelvio, rear turning indicators are Audi Q, side front Volvo, rear qtr is Ssanyong, it’s a mess.

Genesis G70 was launched in 2017, and the interior is bound to be old.

The strange looking window at the c pillar make it look very weird. And then the lower back, dosent looks good. The inside dosen´t look that good either. Nice looking front only. This is not a option against German cars for sure! It need to be better, not only better for a Hyundai...

Here in Canada, they're Not depreciating nearly as fast as you stated. Looking to buy a used one. Already use to paying premium fuel for my 3.7L Acura TL that has worse gas mileage. So... to me - wrong on both points.

It’s a very well-made luxury car, but it’s nowhere near the European brands in terms of prestige and brand image.

Yeah, this is not the car for people who still have something to prove. If you’ve already made it though, and have already owned many of those “prestige” brand vehicles and now just want something different and you don’t care what other people think, this is a compelling choice.
