Plugin pickups are going to be awesome with electricity on tap for working. But I think the perfect machine might be a diesel plug in, that could run on biodiesel. Then, as batteries get better, the core range could grow over iterations, but you'd always have that (kind of) carbon neutral fuel to fall back on. If 100% pure BEVs don't immediately take over, then biodiesel plugins (with iteratively growing battery capacities) are the asymptotically-final form of heavy duty ground vehicles.

They only had to fix the bolts, since the government forced them. The volts also have bad batteries, but aren't catching fire, due to 1/4 the pack size with the same cooling power. Instead, they just degrade fast and the car limits the usable power and kicks on the engine sooner. Eventually, the car disables itself and cannot be driven until you replace the battery for $10k+ Edit: mine was a 1st gen (2015)

Ford doesn't have to go all electric immediately to get sales. First of all, most of their consumer vehicles are going to get 30+ mpg within the next 5 years or so by becoming normal power assistance hybrids. That's fantastic on it's own. But I also imagine as batteries and other electric technology improves, they'll be able to do plug in hybrids. A plug in hybrid with 20-45 miles of range on battery means most people will not use the gas engine on probably 85% of drives. And even when they do, 99% of the time they won't be using it for more than a few miles. For all intents and purposes, those are electric cars. In fact, as it stands today with electric infrastructure and charging speed, thats *better* than fully electric cars today because you don't have to stop for 45+ minutes on those 1% of times when you're on long trips. So I think Ford is putting itself in a fantastic position to transition into EVs. I just wish they'd started the transition 5 or so years earlier. (And to be honest, the transition should have started back in the early 00's when GM built the EV1. But we know the oil companies intervened there.)

The dealerships are not the problem (some dealerships are better then others). The lack of products from Ford is the problem. Fill up dealer lots with product and all problems are solved. Dealerships with too much inventory are always ready to make deals and move product. Dealerships with only one specialty vehicle, have always charged over MSRP. Ford's EV production levels are slightly better than the production of a specialty vehicle. Many local dealers have yet to even see a lightning on their lot for sale. It remains to be seen when the lots will be full of Mach E's, Lightnings and the like. Ford has supplied you with great video footage and you are doing a great job at promoting the future of Ford. Now, lets see if and when, Ford can stand up to produce a large selection of EV's to choose from. Farley admitted to Sandy Munro, they had basically no vision when it came to building a lightning factory, and now he has to knock down a wall and expand. Of course you may say sales were so good they had to expand. Or you could say they didn't plan to succeed and were just testing the waters. Don't get me wrong. I want Ford to succeed and build Mach E's that have good batteries with good high voltage contractors and carry that over to their future EV's. Time, not words will tell the rest of the story.

Ford, why did you start a channel acting like a auto news outlet touting your vehicles and slamming your dealers and Tesla? You know you have plenty of honest dealers out there that don’t charge over MSRP. Give them the allocations to sell people your cars and really do something to the dealers that price gouge. Stop giving the offenders the inventory. Plus, stop pointing fingers. You guys have raised the prices on every model by thousands from 21 to 22 and now for 23. Furthermore, when dealers don’t jack up the price half the people buying the popular models are flipping them and jacking up the prices on their own. It’s called supply and demand. Supply more trucks!

Ford has over 110-yrs. of production & proven capacity. If they want to achieve displacing Tesla, they have the resources to do it and the will to follow it through. On price alone, they trounce Tesla, but their range is still mediocre. Nobody wants to have to find a charger and sit there for an hour or more for every 200-mile drive. It adds time & cost, most people can't deal with.

I do like the high mpg and initial cost of the Ford Maverick, but if you like to own a vehicle 20 or more years these all electric and hybrid vehicles will be expensive to keep running. I'm not at all excited about electric vehicles. The electric Ford F150 proved it can't tow a travel trailer farther than 100 miles, so how is that good?

Batteries in hybrids and all electric vehicles are very expensive to replace and usually don't last 20 years, and if they do the battery capacity is a fraction of what it was new. If they are delaying because they ensure quality Ford product what I expect. Then maybe it’s worth a few months wait. All electric tho, no thanks, you need a fast charger installed for a Tesla to give you 40 miles per hr charge and if not it’s like 6 miles or hr a charge with the crap they give you. A plug in hybrid is what is needed Ford! Please make the 2023 Maverick a plug in hybrid!

If Ford does an EV version of the Ford Ranger it won’t be the first time Ford does it. Back in the late 90’s there was a Ranger full electric vehicle but that model didn’t had the sufficient range to take it out in the streets. That model was used primarily inside a complex mostly for security patrol.

The order banks for 2023 Maverick open in September. Then you will be able to order one at MSRP. You will have to wait six months for it to arrive on average, due to the demand. I expect 2023 will sell out within 30 days. Every well-designed, reasonably priced vehicle is spoken for nowadays; there are still production bottlenecks. There is only 1 plant making the Maverick, the Hermosillo plant, and it has to make 2 models. They still haven't reached full capacity due to parts (only made about 6k last month), and i believe the max production capacity of the plant is 10k/month. As for the 2023 Ranger, Ford will not be officially announcing that model until the Detroit auto show. Until then it is all rumors and guesswork.
