All-new 2023 Ford Everest Review - new platform, new engine, new era for Ford?
The new generation of Ford Everest has certainly piqued the interest of South African motorists, who have had to be patient with the vehicle's delayed market introduction. We finally got our hands on the top-spec Platinum variant for a video and written review. So, what do we think? Only one way to find out.
In this very detailed review, our video journalist Ciro De Siena gets stuck into the details of the new Everest, including his verdict on the new, powerful, V6 turbodiesel motor under the bonnet.
We also take a thorough look at the new interior and vertical touchscreen infotainment system, a test of the second row of seats and a look at the boot space and towing capacity.
Let us know what you think of the new Ford Everest in the comments below.

I have never seen such a great improvement from a car. It's like its a whole new car, compared to the previous one. Kudos 👏 to Ford, they nailed it
Ciro’s analogies are just unmatched 😂 Such an entertaining motoring journalist.
Test drove it, brilliant vehicle all round. Anything close to it will cost double the amount. Already a waiting list, well done Ford, this is a winner.

Nice car with great features Pricing is crazy, that basically Land Cruiser territory 😂 Never thought the Everest would rise to 1M so quick So here's a tip for buyers if you want an American SUV under 600k I suggest you look at Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland previous generation And the Ford Everest Limited ( Also previous generation) They are not super outdated, they do have most of the modern features. Lots of power and torque. They have everything you need in an SUV. Basically just get a low mileage previous model with a warranty plan.

What many owners and dealer sales agents don't know, is the front sun visors can slide on their mounting when unclipped! Brilliant for when the sun is between normal sun visor position and the rear view mirror!! And when you swing the visors to the side, it also slides on its mounting so you don't have sun glare or burn in that irritating gap with door pillar!!! I know this coz I own a 2021 version.

Not a Ford fan, but damn these are stunners🔥
The new Everest in this Platinum spec looks great, a major step forward for Ford- well done to the styling department! It definitely appeals to a particular market who will get caught up in the perceived looks and gadgetry - but underneath all the plastic it will be guaranteed to be plagued with Fords questionable build quality. Say what you want, they just can't beat Toyota in terms of all the important stuff like reliability, durability, resale value & after sales service!

It really is a very good looking SUV. But, nearly R1.2 mil does seem steep, and also a bit of a let-down that our (SA) Platinum model doesn't get matrix LED headlights. Ford's hit-and-miss reliability doesn't help either. Then again, I have a 2019 XC60 that hasn't gone wrong once in four years, and their reliability is supposedly not great either. Great show I am from Ramphosa land It strange the Ford Everest is made in Thailand The top of the range here is new generation Ford Everest sport and 4wd Bi turbo 2 litre diesel sells for 950 rand here but no platinum version here I had the pleasure if driving the diesel single turbo here and drove 2200 km thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience ,evening has a driver alert system after continuous drive of 200 km telling it time for driver to stop and refuel with coffee Good show Kind regards Mally
After GM stopped producing RHD vehicles and the Holden brand was shutdown in Australia and New Zealand, I have been at a loss as to what I am going to upgrade to in the next couple of years. I have always liked the look of the Rangers and had a couple of them as company vehicles but Ford has not done an SUV to match the styling and performance of the Ranger range until now. I will definitely be looking at the Everest Platinum when the time comes to upgrade and I also hear they will be bringing out a Hybrid version. Not sure how far away that model is.
So everyone is aware. The front-side park sensors only begin to beep if an object is within 25cm from the vehicle. So if there is a bollard hidden over the front left bonnet, and you don’t know it’s there, you will only have milliseconds to react to stop the car. The specification says these alerts should start from 60cm but even that isn’t giving you enough time if it worked as designed. Sadly it only starts from 25cm which is near to contact. Plus the beep is very soft compared to previous models. So basically for such a technically advanced vehicle, and a huge vehicle, one of the most basic features is almost non-functional.
Ciro, I can see that the Christmas season has been good to you
I would say it's pretty well spec car and that made me change my mind about fortuner and hilux

isnt the Platinum supposed to have the Matrix LED Headlights? i noticed none of the Wildtraks currently for sale on Autotrader has the Matrix LEDs too. What is the story there? see its standard on the aussie versions of the Everest Platinum and available as an option (Performance Pack upgrade) on the Wildtraks.... or is it a case same as when Toyota launched the 8th gen locally back in 2015/6 and it just came with standard halogen headlights and after a year or so the HID with LED eyebrow DRL was introduced? if it is to curb costs on a R1Mil + car, that is just silly...
Ford never disappoints
We had 20+ Toyotas and Fords since the 2000s. Toyota was always the best but it has really changed since 2015. All Toyota is reliable and second hand value, nothing more. Objectively Ford is better in every other category. We have had 6 Fords in our family since 2015. None of them has ever broken down or had a problem. Our 2016 Ford Ranger 3.2TDCi 4x4 supercab has 250 000km and is stilling running like new. Toyota has always won reliability, but its getting really close. The last thing Toyota has going for it is second hand value.
