Nice collection. Like many here commenting, I have several smokers and grills. I like to keep it simple and my Weber 22" is my go to unit. The addition of the vortex ring , rotisserie & grill grates allow versatility on my weber. The Char-Broil Kettleman is another favorite of mine as it's custom grate allows versatile cooking from 350 to over 700 degrees, all with about half the charcoal as the Weber.

It's a fantastic and versatile cooker. They only real downside to it is it can catch water and mold pretty easily. I realize that sounds bag but every cooker has drawbacks and that's really minor in comparison to what you get for the $. Other than that, it's great.

It's funny how often I get asked this question. There is not big secret. We have a set of cheap wash clothes that I use just for grilling. I take one or 2 out with me every time I cook. I use them for everything. wiping down messes, cleaning off my thongs, hot pads, etc. At the end of the cook, I wipe things down and sometimes I get them wet and when the cooker is hot it create steam that cleans of pretty much anything. After that, the rag goes in the washing machine and gets run with whatever the next load is.

New to the channel trying to catch up on older videos, but I agree with you on your comments about the Smokey Joe. I have the silver version with the vent on the bottom of the bowl so the air flow is better than the Gold version. A friend of mine who has the Gold always complains about the air flow/temp control issues. I got lucky and got my Silver for free someone dumped it at a tailgate in good condition but if I had to buy one would definitely get the Jumbo Joe.

Have thought about it but I think that would only appeal to a small segment of the population. Also charcoal is very variable. One bag is completely different the next… Especially year-over-year as they get new supplies of wood. So the video wouldn't really have much shelflife

Good info, the only ones you have that I would like to have is the Weber Q and the Bayou Classic possibly the 26 WK. The Q is a fantastic little gasser, the only gasser I would consider owning. My mother has one, I unboxed it and assembled it for her and cook on it often when I visit her. Fire Escape Griller is a great channel, so is TosTinMan, he also has Q now. Phil in Florence is also awesome. Charcoal and wood are the two oldest cooking fuels known to mankind. There is a reason that we humans enjoy the flavor so much of foods cooked with wood a charcoal. It has been bred into us since prehistoric times.

Totally agree with you that the small Smokey Joe has air flow issues. It is my feeling the vent holes underneath the kettle does not let in enough air. I recently watched a grill mod video were they used a titanium step drill bit to create air vents in a steel drum. I would like to try that solution by drilling out a few extra vent holes in my Smokey Joe to see if that solves the issue.

****6/9/2018 update**** Spoke too soon. WiFi failed on me again this time when cooking for friends which unfortunately has happened quite a few times now. After months of working on this and multiple swap outs of computers (and hearing from others privately who have had gone through similar experiences), and spending $500 to update my home WiFi, I no longer have faith that this is ever going to be resolved until MAK makes some changes on their end. I want to also say this is NOT a customer service issue as the guys I deal with could not be better. I don't think they have been given the tools to be successful (ie, the wifi equipment used in the MAK needs an overhaul) and of course, that's me speculating because they are too professional to even hint at it. I still like the cooker but don’t recommend the WiFi because I just can't can’t trust it...it's as simple as that. If MAK upgrades or finds another answer I’ll take another look but for now, I do not recommend the wifi accessory package. ***6/8/2018 (later in the day) Update*** OK, so I ran the cooker for 9.5 hours and didn't have a flameout or a wifi disconnect. The only issue I'm having is one page on the Makmobile website isn't loading up. I can do everything on the website except use the programs page which throws up an error saying there is a connection issue. However, considering the fact that all the other tabs work, I'm going to assume that is a problem on their end and nothing wrong with my cooker. I was able to change temps and shut down the MAK both from my computer and my phone. It's probably too soon to say the problem if definitely fixed, but if you are reading this without further updates, that means I have not had any issues with disconnections. If I do have an issue, I'll report back. ***6/8/2018 Update*** Ran a quick test last week before we went out of town and the new computer held temps for 2 hours. Today I'm editing all day so I thought I'd run a longer test. I kicked it off around 30 minutes ago and I'm just going to let it run for 250 degrees most of the day. One thing I should say is in the past I've had issues with flameouts which MAK attributed to the Traeger pellets I was using. I switched to a different brand but I'm out of the new ones and I have a ton of leftover Traeger's so I'm using them for this test. There is a chance this test may get cut short by that, but I can bring myself to buy new pellets just to run a test while those are sitting here. Hopefully there won't be an issue. I'll update this evening. ***6/1/2018 Update*** I got the new computer installed. I'll be testing out the wifi over the next few weeks. I'll report back when I know something. ***Update*** ATTN MAK OWNERS: Based on some feedback I've gotten privately, I want to reframe this question a little. Has anyone with a MAK been able to get the wifi to actually work consistently? If so how often do you use it and do you find it completely reliable? Feel free to reply to this comment. I may have some questions for you. *****Original post******* This is where I'll be updating the status of the wifi on the MAK Grill 2 Star General. I know some people probably have had no issues and that's great, but mine has been troublesome and I feel like it's important to be transparent with you guys...especially since I was so excited about it in a previous video. As of right now, the new computer is sitting here in a box. I'm hoping to have it up and running over this holiday weekend and be able to test it over the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

Glad to hear it. I don't think strong strong consistent connection was The issue. We're pretty much maxed out. I'm getting my Wi-Fi at my neighbors house across the street and seriously nothing ever loses signal except the MAK. What kind of router are you using and how far is it from the cooker? How many walls between it? Also who is your service with? If you don't mind me asking

Yeah, I have that now. I started out with a Airport Extreme behind one wall and across the room, then added an extender right by the window...then I paid 500 bucks to create a 3 node mesh network. Still the only thing that loses signal is the MAK. Hopefully this new pellet boss will fix the issue.

I have 4 grills. I have the Weber Performer. LOVE IT. I have the Jumbo Joe that I did a few mods to. I have a Smokey Joe Gold that I modded to be like the Silver with the bottom vents and a couple of other mods. And I was able to get the Weber Q1200 that is just like the one you have for $100.00. The guy also threw in the Weber Q cart that he never even opened for free. Love all my grills and use them regularly. I'm not a KZread/video kind of guy but I have thought about making a website about grilling just for fun.

Just wondering, how often do you add wood while smoking to grills like the barrel smoker and a kettle/ceramic cooker. I ask because with they don't have access doors like the wsm or a offset. I know they have hinged grates but if you don't have one of those, can't imagine it's easy unless the grills just don't require adding wood
