    I received my kamado and was pumped and slightly disappointed that I received two of the same brackets so I couldn’t really use the shelf but that didn’t hinder the cooking. My wife didn’t even bother asking how much I spent once she tasted the delicious tri tip I smoked. And the next day I smoked a chuck roast and made one of the best shredded beef sandwiches I’ve ever had. Oh and getting a the proper bracket sent out was not a pain at all the customer service at Grilla Grills is superb. Jermey at Grilla Grills handle the situation the next day and shipping was two days faster. My only regret was not ordering sooner. Once I’m ready I’ll definitely be ordering one of the two pellet grills. 🍻🍻

    Bad Beast Barbecue despite their comparison here, this grill is not a direct competitor to the XLBGE or KJBJ. The cooking surface is 20.5" on the grilla vs 24 on the XL and BJ. Not saying it's a bad cooker, just pointing out that it's easy to be mislead. If you really want an XL cooker, this is not it.

    I'm sure this grill does a fine job, but can you really say the cooking size is double because of 2 levels? That's not a realistic comparison as you know. I could keep stacking shelves 1 inch high until it reaches the daisy wheel on my BGE and say it has 1,000,000 in of cooking space. Just be real and honest. Again, I'm sure this grill is great and is much more than anyone will ever need at home. That's all that needs to be said though. Marketing can be bad.

    one thing to remember is that these two grills are not the same size. the BGE is bigger. they really should state the diameter of both. I know the talk about cooking surface but the Kong has two levels. have you ever cooked on two levels? I have and it takes a bit of planning to do so with items needing turning on lower level. It is doable though. Not 100% apples to apples. Update. Something is odd here with the sizes. I see both are considered 24" models. Visually, the BGE seems wider. How much cooking surface does the Kong have on only one level?

  • @LoedMerlin

    @LoedMerlin

    7 жыл бұрын

    I think he said about 329 sq inches...it's the second shelf that gives the Kong more cooking space. The other thing to note is that to get a second shelf with the BGE, you have to buy it in addition to the single that comes with the BGE. Komodo Joe also has the same kind of "all in one" system that the Kong does for less than a BGE.

    He didn’t gloss over anything. He listed the diameters of each and the sq inches of each: BGE 452 sq in vs Kong 329 sq inches. I have the Kamado Joe Big Joe, which is comparable in size to the BGE XL. I have never had the occasion to pack it completely full, and it’s HUGE - not really practical. I think the use of a second cooking surface on the Kong with the smaller diameter is a great idea. However, Grilla needs to introduce a “divide and conquer” system similar to Kamado Joe - it’s a game changer.

Why don't you guys include a stainless steel pan that would have a handle that would lift up and allow you to lift it out and dump onto your garden or low spot in your yard as it would be just ashes anyway and would make yours one step better than there's even more than your company already has. We have a Facebook group My Grilla Grills, Mark and Shane are always commenting on people's posts, trying to help their customers any way possible. All ceramic smokers are similar in performance and yes BGE are the industry leaders but when you can buy a similar grill for less money with the same or better warranty what do you have to loose. If you don't like what you see in the comparison video then go spend $1500-$1600 for a BGE. I personally like my Kong and for the money difference, I will enjoy cooking alot of good food.

    Bruce Rubinberg The reason they compare it to a green egg is because of it's over price :o/ Just becausd greed egg came before the Kong, it doesnt mean that Green egg is better, Also just because you are paying more for the green egg that doesn't mean it's a better. From what i see, the kong is offering a way better deal for half the price. i am sure the green egg wont cook your foods 2x's better. so why pay the 2x's the price?

    The same reason why everything is compared to a Macbook. The BGE is the 1000lb gorilla (no pun intended) in the room the same way Apple is. While other companies have products that come close to or are even better than a Macbook the Macbook will always be the benchmark due to the name, history, and product quality.

    Conclusion...BGE is the way to go. Your 2 tier cooking is dumb. Let’s say you have a simple burgers and hotdogs cook. To get to the meat on the 1 tier mean the removal of the meat on the top tier. That alone is a no go. Your small surface makes it difficult/impossible to cook a 14 lb brisket. You said it took you 1 1/2 hours to put the BGE together with two people. I’m 5’5, just a little guy, and I put the same unit together by myself in about 45 minutes and I’m not mechanically inclined. I could go on and on but I won’t. Your video was enough to turn me away from that grill. I’ll stick with the kamado and BGE.

    Grilla Grills good comparison video but to keep it apples to apples you should have said that the BGE has a 24" diameter with provided 1 grill grate its 452 sq inches of cooking surface compared to Grilla Grills Kong that is 20.5" cooking surface diameter and with 2 tiered grates its 643 sq inches, (like you said in the video) except to keep it apples to apple you should have also said if you buy an additional 2 tiered cooking grate you would have over 900 sq inches of cooking surface with the Big Green Egg. A little miss leading but thanks for all the info. And yes I understand "salesmen" talk as in you where only comparing what was in the box at those prices but apples to apples would be 2 tiered cooking compared to 2 tiered cooking. But like I said thanks for the info as i am shopping for a Kamado style pit and i am looking at the Vision Grills 21" diameter, 604 sq inch 2 tiered kamado pit with numbered adjustable knobs on the bottom for about $685 total delivered to my door paid with 6 month zero interest PayPal Credit. Then going to throw a Flame Boss 400 on it to set it and forget it from my recliner. But i am considering the Grilla Grills Kong if the price is right Thanks again for all the info. Have a great day Grilla Grills.
