It should be noted that Megidramon would have destroyed the entire cosmology of Tamers if left unchecked. In Digimon Tamers, the Digital World is made out of multiple layers and is said to be a world beyond the Network(multi-layered) and Human World(your conventional infinite multiverse). Beyond is used as in, it is in a hierarchical position superior to the Human World and Network, like a higher dimension. In order to reach the Digital World's physical layer wich is just the deepest part of the Network that humans can't normally access,you have to go trough the layers of the Network (6 layers). This is where Takato and co first arrived. That was the whole of the Digital World when it was first created. In the physical layer there are pillars of light that if swallowed by them it will send you to another world. The Digital World is comprised out of 3 layers, wich are said to be small universes. Small wasn’t used as small but with the meaning of a subset. And within each layer there are scattered miniverses( 9 in number) worlds created by the Digimon as homes that beffit their abillities. Even beyond the Digital World is the domain of the Holy Beasts, a higher world to the Digital World created by them and the highest,deepest part of the Digital World from where they keep the balance of it. This would have affected the Human World as well.

makes sense, as machinedramon is the mechanical counterpart to Kimeramon (ultimate machine as opposed to ultimate lifeform). Its entire body is composed of various parts of other mechanical digimon, including metalgreymons arm. so it makes sense, if all of its fusion materials can evolve/jogress into machinedramon.

Nice :b The dark evolutions mostly trigger by a huge amount of negative emotions/energy being send to the digimon, the biggest example is the Tamers one, the protag really had a lot of hatred towards the guy they were fighting bexause of something I'll not spoil In case you wanna watch it. And most of them tend to be basically uncontrolled berserks that fight till they run out of energy, die or de evolve, except for the last one that was ovbiously conciouss :b Also, they are mostly given to the main characters to make subplots with that and give them characters development, Also, seeing the main guy's digimon turn into a mindless/evil being even if it is for a while gives more impact and chances progress the story :b

There was a dark evolution that wasn't on this list it was Gulusgammamon to Regulusmon

Technically it not a dark evolution it just gulus actual evolution line as it much like a agumon evolving into a greymon it gulus standard evolution

Fun fact about the "Dark" Metal Greymon. In reality that Greymon is not Dark, but is the original before Kakudo asked to re-paint i into a colorful scheme, the reason why they got a blue skin is because the Greymon from the File Isle aren't strong enough to resist the mechanization of their body that their Skin is literally rotten. This directly goes and links with the recent Blitz Greymon, an Ultimate Level Greymon that lose all elemental fire and became more of a high advanced Cyborg than a Warrior Dragon Man.

It also the dark blue metal greymon is the virus type metal greymon while the orange one is the vaccine type
