I live in the Midlands.Most of us hate him as well.

As a resident of Hartlepool, we have seen no improvement within the town under Ben Houchen. The only thing we have seen is an increase in people using food banks. We were promised jobs but we have not materialise

The Tees Valley Freeport....the word dodgy doesnt come close to describing the goings on there.

This is the type of soft journaling ahoy allows characters like Boris and Ben to get away with it for years. The media are all too easily sucked into the showman side of the person but don’t delve into the character and substance of both men. Ben Houchen’s faces serious questions over corruption and cronyism at Teesworks and yet not a whisper about that in this report. Anyone who’s read Private Eye, the FT or the Yorkshire Post had read all about his murky dealings and yet the local/national papers and news barely mention it.

"People like a showman." FFS, this is the criterion for an effective Prime Minister? Talk about distracting the masses with bread and circuses.

I am old enough to remember watching British television in 1968. At that point there was a lot of commentary, informed analysis and commentary from experts, as well as a lot of statistics. Now it is just vox pops, and “ask the punter what s/he thinks, especially the thickest punters we can find on the street.” Sad to see a country in decline.
