You're missing 48 seconds where Chrisrian J Simon was the voice of Clayton as Darwin and Donielle T Hansley Jr was Darwin until he cleared his through and became Christian. Also it's S5 12 not 13. Also Yumiko is the Japanese va, Christian has been voicing Darwin since 2018 in the english version as of the anybody episode.

It was actually less obvious with Darwin; almost every voice sounded the same, save for this first VA at the end of his run.

I don't know if it's been pointed out, but honestly Darwin's attitude seemed to match whatever voice actor portrayed him. Like, whenever the voice was lower and had more maturity in it, Darwin would seem more mature and sarcastic after dealing with Gumball for so long, and whenever they switched to a new younger voice, he regained his oblivious and optimistic attitude Or I could be just looking too much into a cartoon

I can't lie you could really notice Darwin's second voice actor's voice get much deeper when he stood next to the Darwin voice actor that came after him at 0:50. But even though their voices were too mature for the age they were portraying, I think the semi deep voice with a bit of a squeak was the best for both Darwin and Gumball. Like too squeaky was irritating to listen to, but too deep didn't make sense for their characters

I wouldn’t say it was too mature for their age; its been years but i still remember how drastic peoples voices were in middle school. A mix between kids that sound like kids and sounding like grown ass adults while all being around the same age (sometimes being the EXACT same age) Ntm them kids whose voices dropped overnight I think people are just a little too desensitized to the way kids in cartoons sound to know how varied they really sound like. There’s a lot of “sanitization” that goes on behind the scenes that usually winds up with real kids ever rarely playing kids and even when they do, both the kids and adults tend to play a similar tone without letting the voices run a little more free This isn’t a critique or a diss at the animation VA industry, just an observation and statement of opinion. There’s a myriad of reason why this is a done, that I don’t wanna get into and its better off that way. Even as a kid, i just always thought it was cool to watch shows like chowder, spirited away (despite bein a movie), gumball, avatar and steven universe because the kids sounded and were actually played by real kids. There’s just an authentic sound to it that immediately subconsciously registers with a person, even if they’re not as knowledgeable or have keen ears for voices like i do. I just think they always tend to resonate more than with Tara Strongs 50th gig lmao

Darwin's change in VA was really obvious in the latino spanish dub since he got a voice way deeper than the one he had in season 1. And honestly both of them fit his character I think gumball also changed VA at the start of season 2 but I couldn't really notice any differences

Actually they never changed Darwin's VA, he just got puberty and I guess they didn't care lmao, and they changed Gumball's voice at the very start of season 1 (his first VA only lasted for a couple of episodes), fun fact, he's second VA also voices Naruto

@@icecube9187 they meant gumball's 2nd Latino Spanish VA (Isabel Martinon) is also the voice of Naruto in the Latino Spanish dub. But coincidentally the original VA of Naruto (Junko Takeuchi) does also voice Gumball in the Japanese dub of TAWOG

In the latin spanish dub, Darwin voice actor remained the same, he went through puberty and way after puberty and he was still doing Darwin I gotta say his voice always fitted the character, even if it was not that high pitched anymore

i love all of Darwin’s voices, the actors do so well with voicing him no matter their age

Yeah same. I stopped watching the show around Season 3 right when the original voice actors got replaced. It also happened around the time I was starting middle school and felt like I was growing out of CN. The early seasons of Gumball will always be a part of my childhood. It's crazy how time flies.

You should go watch the rest of the show. I'm a nostalgia fiend but even I can admit the later seasons are way better, way more clever, and way more deep than the earlier seasons. Although if you're looking for an innocent show where two kids go on antics in middle school, the earlier seasons got you covered.

I recently found out their voice actors were kids at the time of recording for the show and it greatly warmed my heart.

everyone's saying Darwin's voice change is less obvious but I found it more obvious than Gumball's? Like you could tell it's getting higher at some parts

I loved this show and I like how they made the VA transitions noticeable but in a creative way instead of just randomly changing the character in a new episode. The writer, the story, characters, were amazing and I wish it was still running

Honestly his last voice is way to high I liked the middle ground between deep and squeaky now he sounds like a 5 year old 1:01 is probably my favorite

Also you must have only seen the first handful or so episodes which I can't blame you for how Gumball spin offs are so boring but if you watch the Mother's Day special Darwin talks and Christian J Simon, despite going through puberty (especially if you watch Sydney to the Max) is still his voice since of 2018. When I watched it I wondered why he wasn't re-casted.

Darwin wasn't speaking Chinese, he was speaking Cantonese 😂 EDIT: The dialect Darwin was speaking in is Cantonese, but I was wrong to say he "wasn't speaking Chinese" bc he was. What I should have said that he wasn't speaking mandarin, which is also a dialect of Chinese. But then again, Gumball's question was "Can you speak Chinese?" So in actual fact, the subtitle wasn't correct, bc Darwin did speak Chinese. So my original comment is in fact, wrong, as I misinterpreted the joke lmao TL;DR I failed as an Asian haha
