He was on his own side, just because the bandit life didn't turn out as well as he'd have liked doesn't mean he had a change of heart. He'd get his reward and be on his way robbing and murdering innocent people in the province futher away.

@@PawPawPandas He was still working for Istvan. Istvan had Zbyshek help Henry escape to make the men of Rattay and Talmberg ride for Vranik, leaving Talmberg unguarded.

I.. disagree. Gollum was driven insane by an evil magic ring. Zbyshek is a cowardly selfish ass, closer to Harry Potter's Peter Petigrew. He shoved Theresa into those Cumans to save himself, told those bandits about Henry's sword to gain favor, and 'saved' Henry here because the bandits don't treat him well either.

Golllum was enslaved by the power of Sauron and the Ring, he had little to no will of his own. Zbyshek serves himself, switches sides and betrays people for his convinience, they're nothing alike

The way he says "My lord will kill you all" makes me think this was all one big ruse. He was told to bring you back to Rattay find out as much as he could, while getting some coin out of Radzig then head back to Toth. This way Toth would know how many men to leave in the camp and how many to take to Talmberg plus after what he did to Teresa he deserves the gallows

Could be, but I don´t think Toth would have expected them to talk openly about their plans infront of Zbyshek and then let him go. But then again, if they were to kill Zbyshek, Toth would hardly care. Also Toth wouldn´t expect Zbyshek to come back if he was rewarded, he would hightail it away from everything.

Thats why I murdered him in the forest..

In one play through I forgave him and even though he deserves to die he lost just as much and Henrey couldn't have made it out without him. In another play through I had him hung because he only ever thought about himself.

FUCK! My curiosity backfired. I haven't gotten this far in the story and I didn't know that Rad is the protagonists father. Well, I did it to myself.

@Ahmet Kudret yeah basically all of the Cutscenes involving Radzig and Henry have always around 5 tonnes of foreshadowing in them, so the reveal is not thaaat powerful in my opinion. Still cool though I guess.

As many others have pointed out in the comments, Zbyshek freeing Henry might just be a plot. My theory is, that Istvan Toth came up with the plan to take over Talmberg, only after seeing Henry in Vranik. He knew that Henry was working for the Lords of the area and kept them updated on his progress in the investigation. If he would go missing, they would immediately start searching at his last known position in Vranik. Vranik is only surrounded by palisades, is mostly comprised of tents and probably has no water supply. It wouldn't stand up to a besiegement. Vranik's strategic advantage was gone, so he decided to use it as a trap. He left the camp and instructed Zbyshek to help Henry escape. That way, Henry would tell everybody about Vranik and lure them into said trap. Zbyshek told Henry the shortest way to get out of the camp, so he wouldn't see that most of the bandits had already left. And Zbyshek didn't bring a horse for the escape, so that their way to Rattay would take longer and would buy Istvan some additional time. And in case they would let Zbyshek go, he might even pick up some vital information in the process.

Okay that bit about the horse really f***ed me up, I *knew* that mf after all this time with mercenary bandits would have learned how vital horses are in any grand scheme involvinf milage, that bothered me every playthrough but now the pieces are finally aligning. Let 'im swing, boys!

It also makes sense of the main issue I had: If Toth wanted Henry's ransom, then why is it after Henry hobbling back, Radzig hadn't had a messenger (possibly a soldier that got ambushed by a Vranik bandit) informing him to pay up?

I really wanted a video about this sort of "choice" you can make. I wasted more than 10 minutes to see all the choices myself. thank you for making the video

I wonder if he actually wanted to get a second chance so he freed you or he was working with Istvan all the time and making Henry escape and telling everyone about Vranik was his plan. If Henry never escaped they wouldnt send the Talmberk army and Istvan would not capture the Talmberk.

Yeah but istvan was planning this for ages. His plan was to take talmberg in the first place, hence building ladders at pribyslavits he couldn't have known that henry would sneak into his camp and be captured. Thats not how planning works. But since henry escaped istvan would know henry would tell radzig about vranik.

I just wrote a comment about that myself. Henry's kept everyone updated on the progress of his investigation, so they probably knew about his whereabouts. Or at least they would eventually have started searching after Radzig's only heir if he got missing. Istvan Toth probably knew that Vranik would get attacked sooner or later, when he saw Henry there. (Keep in mind: Toth couldn't know if and how much Henry had already told Radzig and Hanush about Vranik) Toth probably let Henry escape with Zbyshek's help to set up a trap. Henry would lure them all to Vranik and would tell them about the hundreds of men he saw on his way in. Zbyshek would tell Henry the shortest way out of the camp, so that on his way out, he wouldn't see that most bandits had already left. Zbyshek didn't bring a horse for their escape, so that it would take them longer to get to Rattay and to buy Istvan some more time.

A good way to think of it is through modern law, a murderer like Zbyshek sentenced to death row won’t just be cleared of it by doing one good deed. The punishment for his crimes should stand just like the consequences of his actions still persist. A promise like Henrys could technically compare to the promise of a lawyer

Henry should have said that he will get his just reward. And he did.

I think I glitched the game and I was able to kill him In the very beginning when you throw shit at the house. You get into a brawl and I ran straight to him knocked him down and it gave me the prompt to kill him so I did and Henry stomped his head, the entire time I was finishing up in slalitz people walked by his body screaming about a dead guy but his body wasn't there. A guard and a catch pole were standing at the spot I stomped him out but he wasn't there.

The best option you can do in the game, is to tell him to f**k off immediately after you escape, and then run away instead of fighting him. This way, you're even, he gets a kind of a second chance, and you don't have to worry about him feeding information back to István in the event that it was all an elaborate ruse. The option I'd personally like to do, is either to pay him back in the forest and not travel to Rattay with him (meaning he isn't pardoned, and he can't spy on the lords in Rattay for István); or even better: to travel to Rattay with him, have Radzig pay him, and have Hanush imprison (but not execute) him until he has atoned for his sins. Either way, you keep your word, but he does not get away Scott-free.

I'm glad you get to kill him as part of the story. I killed him before Skalitz got raided, but I just found his ass again in the part before Runt kicks your ass. I thought if I killed him in Skalitz, he wouldn't appear and you'd just get the shovel from where he would be standing

The attack to the camp and to talmberk happens regardless of the outcome with zbyshek. I hardly think it was all a big plan, It is a very stupid one, considering that he has the son of his biggest enemy at the moment imprisoned, remember that Sir Radzig is not just some lord, he is the royal hetman and the one that needs to be defeated, having his son hostage will give him an enourmous advantage over any kind of negotiation they may have to do in the future, he will also be letting them know of the camp and everything if he escapes. His best option once he knows Henry is missing and that there is most likely an army approaching is to try to capture Talmberk, they would do the most damage and have hostages to deal with when the situation gets bad for them, they already knew the army would gather in front of the castle and start an assault after sieging a bit, all that time is spending the resources of Wenceslas allies and the cunning rat leaves alive when making the highest damage possible, although he left Radzig alive in the end. His plan was probably to attack Rattay soon, they were closer to it and a siege to Talmberk would require his army to walk a lot, the encampment at prybislavitz was more likely to attack Talmberk, since they were planning a siege and were closer to Talmberk. At the end Henry saves the day and Sir Istvan says well fuck it, lets get the easy castle and wait until it gets destroyed so i can leave and attack later.

The cutscene right after this I always get that damn loading screen of eternity

Hmmm.... maybe zbyshek is a spy.. see that he is there while the three of them henry, sir radzig, and sir hanush talk about the plans he just stand the menacingly.. after a short while (spoiler alert) you are to attack the fort at vranik.. but toth knows that they are about to attack so he went straight to talmberg. But anyways even though you imprison zbyshek, the fate is still inevitable.

I find it weird, that there is no alternative to use Zbyshek as a guide/informant, before letting him go with the reward. He have been in Vranik longer than Henry, after all.

In choice 3, I'm a little sorry, Zbyshek.

There should be an Option To Beat the shit out of him in the Beginning and not making him a rat that snitched Henry to Grunt , Maybe if it was not personal i would release him Like I did with Pios... He is a Thief and he is self conscious about his guilt he was not part of the killing ,Zbyshek on the other hand Saw that they are going to murder his supposed to be friend and did nothing , not a word he uttered not a muscle did he move he just watched and Henry would died there if not for Deus Ex Machina . Hung the Scum Every Time

If you choose to start a fight with him and somehow manage to teleport him to some other place,he will stay there and freeze. The same will happen to other npcs like Reeky,Ulrich and so much more

This is like a similar story sense that The Last Kingdom had, the little two faced weasel Zbyshek and just how the layout is.

I mean I'm just glad he saved Henry in the end, I'd have to visit Vranik one way or another later in the storyline, then get locked up by that guy who looks like a bailiff and just be stuck there forever xD

the cutscene takes less time. if you want to kill him, you have to travel all the way from vranik to rattay

Shouldn't there be another option, which is walking around him and never meeting him, and go to Rataje by yourself?

Zbyszek is the worst

Everytime I get to this part and where his dad talking to him it starts to load then dose nothing but louds and won't play no more. Like it freezes. :(

I see a lot of people here condemning Zbyshek. I mean, I really hate him but funny if you think about it again, he was a reason that Henry could survive, you can’t deny that. He didn’t have to be better man, he just didn’t want to have anything to do with bandit’s life anymore. When he returns to his normal life, he is probably still bad, but for sure that he stays clear of banditry.

I can understand your reasoning. Some counterarguments might be: - Henry's escape was planned by Istvan to advance his plan of taking over Talmberg and Zbyshek was part of it - Even without Zbyshek's help, Henry would have been freed eventually (either for the ransom or by force) - Zbyshek acted only out of selfishness and not out of good intentions. He hated living with the bandits. He only helped Henry in order to get payed and start over again. - He had no interest in changing himself or doing something useful. After dropping off Henry in Rattay, he could have given them information or joined them in battle. He did no such thing. He just asked for money to further pursue a life as a criminal. - He is just an all round bad person and he is probably going to keep causing problems if you let him go. During the attack on Skalitz, he pushed Theresa into the Cumans to distract them from himself. He returns to Skalitz to loot the corpses of his dead neighbors. When Henry wants to bury his parents, Zbyshek doesn't want to give him the shovel. Zbyshek leads Runt and his men to Henry, who rob him and want to kill him. He joins the bandits.

@@Betterhose This game was awhile ago for me, so I might mistake the plot here and there. So, from what I remember that evil Hungarian lord (forgot his name) was very cunning, but he didn’t know everything, especially the fact Zbyshek knowing Henry personally. On other hand, Zbyshek is stupid and coward, he is not entirely stupid and coward in a simple way (his character showed that when he get pushed to his limit, he could take any chance to survive). Zbyshek would never got a brain to come up to that evil lord to suggest that “plan”. The plot showed that simply once Henry escaped, he knew and went the game one step ahead, he is just a very smart, cunning lord, he planned this whole his life. Also, in this game, as you know, there is kinda religious aspect/element. Like at the end, Henry got a chance to talk his dad before he went to heaven with his mom. So, the plot works better with how we simply see how it is, not overthinking it. That evil plan was cunning but it still failed somehow. As for Zbyshek. You have to put yourself in Henry’s shoe. He was raised as good Christian, his parents were good people. He surely would give Zbyshek another chance, especially as he saved his life. Whether Zbyshek still turned out to be a bad person or not, Henry didn’t know, the plot left it there, it is not up to Henry to decide, and Henry shouldn’t betray his own words either. I played that way because I think that it fits with narrative, especially there God’s elements in the game. Who knows, when KCD2 comes, Zbyshek might play another important role. Though, don’t get me wrong, I still hate that Zbyshek character, but I still think that it fitted well to spare him.

It is upto you . I killed him instantly for bringing the bandits when henry first visited skalitz . Since he also helped henry later on a quick and painless death is best option .

Personally I think that telling him to fuck off after he helps you escape is the best option, because that way you're not really betraying him, you're just saying that you're even now and don't owe each other anything either way. But then he draws his sword and becomes the aggressor, and you can kill him with a clear conscience. I don't like him, but I think that taking him all the way to Rattay and then ratting him out and sending him to the executioner is a shitty thing to do. None of it really matters to the overall story though.

Kill him. Doing it right after escaping is more savage. Taking him to Rattay just to snitch him out is the kind of move Zbyszek himself would pull. But then again he does deserve that public execution. As long as he dies you made the right choice

I knocked Zbyshek in Skalitz before the raid of the Cumans and then I chose the option to kill him but I don't know what will happen then because then Runt won't be there to fight me heh!

@@jexx2974 Well a lot of the foreshadowing is in Skalitz. "He was still sleeping when i left. It seems he was out all evening. Drinking like a lord. "At this hour? The blue blooded idler." Plus what about sir radzig owing Martian? He'll take care of his son for a sword? Yeah my first playthrough that didn't add up. "I'm doing this for your father lad. Don't disappoint me." (Didn't believe that either)

It's the quest at Budin mill, the one at that ford between Ledetchko and Sasau, where they captured a Cuman and you can let him lead you to his treasure. At the end you can choose to bring him to Rattay (for a small reward from the bailiff, 100 Groschen or so, like for anyone you bring in).

The english sync seems so weird and unfitting if you're used to the german one

Ich wollte die deutsche Version probieren aber bin nicht einmal über das Intro in Skalitz gekommen, so unerträglich fand ich es dass ich sofort auf Englisch umschalten musste, deutsche Synchronsprecher klingen immer so schrecklich künstlich im Vergleich.

I think the fact that you get an additional cutscene when you betray him and have him executed should mean that choice is canon by default. No other option has a cutscene
