My beautiful deer head chihuahua passed away a week ago. I miss her so much. She was a little princess and she knew it.

I had mine 13 years. She was my babygirl. She helped me through so much and I owe my life to her. I still cry. We are so lucky to have such wonderful caring companions in our lives

I have two of them and they are so sweet they have never bitten me or growled at me and they let me pet them while they're eating and they don't fight at all they're the sweetest Chihuahuas I've ever known! ✨

I started noticing a pattern of Apple heads getting sick and dying much younger then deer heads n I did a lot of research before deciding which one to get so I found that deer heads are the most healthy n long lived not as sensitive as Apple heads so I just got to deer heads this week there both tri colored n are 8weeks old n are both from the same litter so I got both brother n sister n hope they both live a long n healthy life

We had Deer Head named Lil’Bit. She lived to 18 and passed away Xmas Day 2019. We found her running loose in an industrial area with no collar or chip. She wasn’t very smart but she was petable . I love Chi’s.

Rocadog - Mine is an apple head, she’s a TRI colour of tan and black. I had one previously named Ivy, she was also an Apple head and she was a complete solid black, not a single white mark on her body! She was gorgeous.

Deer head, smooth coat, cream color.

The Deer head chihuahua is the original, the Apple head was breed to be that Way.

I love chihuahuas. I know why God made Chihuahuas small cause if they were the size of a Shepard, they would eat the intruder, & destroy the evidence. 😊😊😊

My chihuahua is a red colored long hair with a deer head. She is the sweetest and most friendly dog I've ever owned but if a stranger should try to pick her up, she will definitely let them know she does not like it. She's never bitten anyone and when we play tug of war she doesn't like to clamp down on the toy. Lots of personality, loves to talk to us. And she's so smart. My all time favorite breed.

Deer head's are my ultimate favorite. I really dislike the akc apple's. I hate that they don't accept the Deer head. So much cuter. Ours is perfectly healthy, fit energetic, strong and friendliest dog ever. He has the biggest ears that makes him so unique. So far I've never seen a long coat Deer head. Beware of Craigslist Chihuahua's for sale that do not let you see the dog in person.

We got a "purebred" chihuahua puppy from a rescue organisation two years ago. He came from a bad puppy mill. As he grew he up I started to doubt that he is only chihuahua. He has a very high prey drive, very very muscular hind quarters and he can lockjaw on toys just like a terrier. And he loves to dig in the earth. From appearance he looks like a deerheaded chi with shorter legs

Our deer head chihuahua is blonde in color with a short smooth coat. Loves people...his owner,93 died so we took him very smart!

Black deer head. Most sociable Chi I've ever met. She will pretend to want out if she hears our neighbor 2 spaces away. And she will accept anyone if I'm holding her at chest height. When other Chi's bark, she looks at them like, "have you no manners?" Training her was easier because she loved my Aussie. She's 10 now and I hope I can find another dog soon so she can help train them too.

I have a female apple head chihuahua that a got from my auntie a year ago, and she’s 1 years old now. She has the shape of a apple head chihuahuas head but the front of her head is more curved down in her snout than just straight down like a block, and her snout is longer than a regular apple head chihuahuas is, is she mixed?

My favorite is my Peanut. My munchkin. My little midget. "The Schmupster". A 4yr old female ,deer head, brindle from a little village in Chihuahua, Mexico. She is the de-facto leader of a small pack. An old lazy Belgian shepherd, an old but not so lazy boxer and a juvenile Beabull. All living happily together runnin up and down the beach all day here in Belize.

FYI if your Chi ever makes a honking noise like a goose? They are fine, just have them lick your hand to get their tongue unstuck. It usually happens when they're really excited. I wish someone wouldve told me this! I was so worried. Lol

I think you are describing a so called reverse sneezing. It is quite typical for Chihuahuas, but also for some other breeds, such as yorkies, shih tzus, pugs.. Most often, it sounds much worse than it actually is and just as you said, it should not indicated anything serious. A reverse sneeze is triggered by an irritant in the throat and soft palate. The causes of this irritation are various and rarely a cause for concern. It can happen when the dog is overlly excited, when they drink or eat too fast or by some foreign substances in the throat.

There’s a stuffy my little sister has and it’s a golden dog that’s really small, it has big eyes and HUGE ears and almost looks like a Pokémon, it’s fur kinda looks curly and soft, I’m not sure what kind of dog it is but maybe a chihuahua? Do u know? Because she wants to get one

Deer head & the Pear head are healthier than Apple head chis in general. Apple heads tend to be hydrocephalus.

Getting one tomorrow he 11 years old my friend giving him to me anything I need to know I have a poodle she is 16 years old ?? I had her since she was 4

I love Chihuahua I had two both adopted gave them both the life of royal. And I loved both of them they were both sweet never mean to anyone I lost one my lil Simon at about 14 yrs. Old in 2009 she just having seazers 3 weeks before she past from one that would not stop 😢🐾❤ and we had to put her rest she was a apple head. Then I found my Coco someone just left her in a crate in front a animal shelter so cruel 💔 😢 she as the vets examined her told me she was about 2 to 3 year's old then well she live 19yrs. Old she was a dear head beautiful soul sweet and so loving ❤ I lost her 3 weeks before Christmas she had a stroke and wouldn't eat are potty im grieving so much she slept with me always and sit by me always she started with potty on a paper she was awesome, then my son was moving cause of his job and he had a dog Catahoula/pit mix and was going to put him in a pond and I told him I will take him my love Amos he is such a good dog was for my grandson and I couldn't see that happen I still have him he's 9yrs.old and gentle but pertective he love his sister Coco and he misses her I still have her kennel in the living room he goes smell for her and I have a sweater of hers still on my sofa and he comes and smell it pore guy. I love my animals I also have 2 cats that I saved there mother past while giving birth she had them in my insulation in my mobile home, but didn't find them till four days after my mother cat of 9yrs died well I took them in and went straight to the store at midnight get them formula and I saved all 4 of them, I bottled feed them 18 weeks potty trained them everything a lot of work but worth it. Well I found homes for the 2 males and I have the the girls still that are 7yrs.old and spoiled. God has blessed me with these lovely animals 🙏 ❤ and I'm doing my best to make sure they have the best life. I know this is long im sorry but this is my life with animals, I do have intention on getting another Chihuahua later but I need to give my Coco. Thank you for herring me if you read this and see what a loving ❤ mom I am!!

Having trouble knowing what kind of Chihuahua I had before he passed. Not sure what kind of head he had so I can replace him. Heart broken. He was tricolor but I cannot figure out how to attach a picture.

Well, I just found out about pear head from your video & the example looked just like my 10yr old rescue I’ve always said looked to be a cross between apple & deer head. He is a Black and Tan long hair with the long flowing ear feathers on wide front facing ears of a papillon, but dna has him as just chihuahua. Every stranger is his long lost best friend, embarrassing at times! But he’s my gentleman lap dog & alerts me to blood sugar probs even though never trained

We have a apple head and a deer head. And a cross with a min pincher. Our apple head is a tea cup. But it wasn't the doing of the breeder. She was the runt of the litter but 1/2 the size of the rest.

I have a 18 month old chocolate smooth coat apple head that I love sooooo much. I named him Shadow because I thought it sound better than Stalker. Both names are very fitting for this breed because they follow you everywhere you go if permitted and sometimes if you don't want them too. My Chi is very feisty to be so small. He only weighs 6lbs but at the dog park, he not afraid of the biggest of dogs. I have to always remind him that he can't fight and nor can I. LoL

How much are Chihuahua dogs? Cause I am really thinking about getting one and I have never had a dog of my own so if I got one lol this’d be my first time having my own pet. I have heard good things about this dog and the only bad thing I’ve really heard is that they get attached to their owner and tend not to like other people when you try to play with them.

I am so sorry to hear about your you baby. Precious little one.

My favorite is the chocolate chip applehead with the stob body. My Paris had mostly white body and muzzle and white stripe seperating her black hemispheres of her black head and ears. She had beautiful tan perfect eyebrows and tan markings swirled about her cheeks. She had a big black spot on her back and tail, tip being white. Short legs and torso, not skinny like some, but it suited her. She hugged with her whole body and went everywhere i did. I loved her so, but could not save her from conjestive heart failure. She passed june 08, of 2019. The only dogs close to her is upwards if 2 to 6 thousand dollars. She was only 14. I dont know why she got this horrible cruel disease, but i supect science diet small bite, small breed dry kibble had something to do with it. She never put anything in her mouth i did not investigare thoroughly.

Were curently in the training process which is going pretty well

Our Deer head (Maxwell Edison) is all black and was a rescue from the Humane Society... Great org... he is as tuff as they come but is a real lover boy. Can walk many miles without tiring. He is all black and a short hair....

The litter looks like smooth coated Chihuahuas BUT, one (mine) has a coat like fur. I'm positive they are mixed with another type. My wife seems sure that there is a (Pug) involved. Poppy Bear acts a bit like a feral type dog. I'm no expert but Poppy acts a bit different than any other breed of pup I have ever had. After all could it be Poppy exhibits Fox features? I feel this is doubtful but, I hope it's possible. Love this little pup!

I have two chihuahuas...both rescues...one is an apple head and one is a deer face...they each weigh about 4 pounds...one is attached to my hip and the other one took a ling time to come around but is a total nut and lives to make me laugh....

Thanks a lot! Chihuahua can have Rottweiler colors (black and tan) and they do have floppy ears as puppies. Most of them will have erect ears when they stop teething, but if your Chihuahua is still a puppy, it is absolutely normal that they have floppy ears 👍

Mine is cream color but she is a mixed breed so she is short coat. I never see much hair. She is larger end of chihuahua and mixture of deer and apple head. She is cream color but looks brown..sh looks like taco bell dog lol.

The so called "Deerheads" are not actually Chihuahuas at all, but I believe they are descended from the Techichi dog, of the Toltecs of modern Hidalgo Mexico, from around 1,100 years ago. The Chihuahueno/ Chihuahua is not a natural dog found in nature, but is the result of man made breeding efforts to make the smallest dog possible. They were first seen by people outside of the state of Chihuahua in Mexico around the middle 1800s. I think that the Techichi is the parent dog of the Chihuahua breed. If you set them side by side, it is readily apparent that they are two separate breeds. The Deer Heads are very similar to Min Pins. I have a red/Cinnamon colored female, named Dinamita...Spanish for Dynamite
