These motors also had a problem with cracked cylinder heads between 1999-2002, casting number 0331. Otherwise, amazing motor, I just put the crank and pistons in mine today.

In the early 80’s I had the chance to drive an original 427 Cobra on a closed track. It was “only” a $100k car at that time, that car truly scared the heck out of me. Granted I was only 18ish. I didn’t get it very near its full potential but that was the drive of a lifetime.

I can imagine. Look at Holman Moody they actually built 352's that would take 57 Fords for rides through the air. Had potential of 150mph and easily do it. On the streets is the problem little distance and many obstacles. Fast cars, fence posts and huge trees don't make a good mix.

When I noticed that the PCV valve was plumbed into the rear of the manifold and not into the primary side of carburetor I wished I could've reached through the screen and plug it off to see if idle smoothed out. Reminded me of a time when I worked on a chevy truck, and someone swapped the brake booster (normally plumbed into intake runner) and PCV (normally plumbed into carb) and had them hooked up wrong. The PCV flowing back through the intake from the intake runner disrupted the flow throughout the entire intake and caused it to idle really rough. Swapping the two hose connections smoothed it right out... As I watched a little longer, I realized that carb is definitely dumping too much fuel so fix that first, if still idles too rough then maybe consider different PCV vacuum source. Anyway, good luck and thank you for the great videos.

It does sound like it has an intermittent misfire at idle, at first I was thinking a vacuum leak maybe a bad plug or wire then I was thinking the carburetor was modified or something or something isn't seated properly or possibly a bad seal or gasket inside the carb but after kiwi said it had backfired first thought was the power-valve, thay do not like backfires! Could just be that somebody tightened the idle mixture screws too much and messed up the metering block which would explain why it clears up when you give it gas, it's pulling too much fuel at idle. Either way I can't wait for part 2

I agree that car is a tight fit especially with the speaker box and the transmission tunnel. DD speed shop has the wedge himself into his but I doubt he'd beable to get into that one... if he does he won't be coming out😛

I'm thinking that is a Factory Five kit. I think they started the Ace kits in the USA. They are in Cape Cod. My buddy has one and they seem to be quality kits although the builder has to do a good job obviously.

The factory five kits are really good for something you’re going to drive or race. They’re not as “true” to the original car as some of the other kits. But, they’ve been improved and designed to use more common modern parts.

Need Tony's ballerina shoes to drive one with a stick. You can still definitely see it wisping out the top of that carby, a few minutes after it was switched off the first time. Hey, I'd be diving the same, seeing that nice stuff Kiwi throws away 😁

I drove a Lotus Europa a couple of times. I have to take my shoes off, and then it's still difficult. Europeans must have really small feet. Also to get in and out you have to put a hand down on the pavement.
