I hope in future, minor updates they keep adding a few new recipes, maybe some new ingredients, etc. cooking is my favorite activity in any game and I’d love to make more and more

I thought of doing that the other day, but I realized the novelty of pop culture cookbooks is the fact the dishes in that book are based on that worlds food making it fun, but the food in new horizons is based on food in real life which would make the book kind of boring and not sell well.

I like the sea bass recipes so if you get angry of getting sea bass you can cook it then eat it

I kinda wish they had gone for a less traditional approach and let you just throw things on a stove and experiment with what they make. Kinda like in BOTW.

This was the wrong video to watch without eating. This makes me so excited to find all the recipies! And imagine if they gave us holiday specific recipes? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you Sam for grinding them recipes for us 💙💙

I love all the recipes they added to the cookbook! Although I would love it if they also included chocolate recipes, lobster recipes, and that we can grow some rice as well. But hey, different strokes for different blokes, am I right?

I think I’d be inspired to cook more if there was a log book like the collections for the museum. Same with gyroids. I want to know how many I am away from completing every recipe, otherwise I probably won’t make many more dishes since I don’t use them other than as a display in a few places 😅

okay, you know what bothers me?! they never added back the exotic fruits from New Leaf, which means that there aren't any bananas, WHICH MEANS I CAN'T MAKE BANANA BREAD. I GOT SO MAD WHEN I REALIZED THIS.

Here are my thoughts: (terribly sorry if you disagree with any of this, it's just a reflection of my experience with the new cooking mechanic) I kinda like that they added a new activity (as well as some more practical garden-fillers) to the game, even if the payoff isn't anything to write home about. We already had plenty of means of destroying rocks and digging up trees, from tree-fruit, pumpkins, turnips (useful for bulk renovating), and even Redd's raffle prizes (usually looked at as simply a delicacy, though now they're always accessible via Harv's island), so cooking doesn't add all too much in terms of QoL. As for decoration, it is nice to have more practical kitchens, as well as for devoted cooking spaces, even if all you need is 1 furniture item per cooking station. The amount of variety is rather unnecessary if you're looking purely at end goal (consumption and decoration), though one might instead see it as insufficient if what you seek is a fleshed-out catalogue of recipes. The inclusion of fish/sea creatures and other niche items in the recipes shows us that DIY recipes always had the guts to let us craft using animals (aside from manilla clams), but just decided not to, so there's that. This is relevant to my next gripe: the devs' pickiness in resource selection. It seems like they added five new crops, made some refined ingredients, and called it a day. What I noticed throughout my haphazard viewing of this video is that a lot of the foods seemed as though they wanted to be something more; pumpkins showed up a tad too frequently in the recipes for my taste (lol), many foods' models showed usage of ingredients they didn't have access to, and there was a rather poor representation of variety that is evident when one observes the overabundance of pies, just fish, pizzas, soups, and the likes. I think that the system as a whole would definitely benefit from an expansion in ingredient selection. The names, however, I didn't have a problem with (even if many of them were rather difficult to pronounce for some). Once you have crafted a food item, the most logical place to put it simply for aesthetic enhancement would be on a table. This doesn't seem to be much of a problem until you remember how hard it is to fill a table in ACNH in a way that looks good. The grid-style found in the game simply doesn't allow for dynamic tabletops. I propose that, just this once, the player is allowed to move furnishings over the tables' open space without reliance on a grid or on subjects' clunky hitboxes (those would also have to be refurbished in this instance). I think that cooking is a mechanic that can't seem to find a home, whether it be in direct decorating (other than slightly improved kitchens) or in rock/tree relocation. What I'm saying is that the introduction of cooking is brought with more fanfare than it deserves, both in the cases of the fans' reaction and in the mechanical presentation of it: some items had to be entirely reclassified to fit this new system, and it is even expected to rival the (in my opinion) much more thought-out crafting, though a night-and-day comparison between the two can't be realistically made. Sorry this got long; I didn't want to be a cringe. If you managed to sit through all that, I wish you a great day! :)

The amount of times I get fruit topped pancakes and pear jam as duplicate cooking recipes is honestly hilarious to me😂🤣btw I get new recipes from talking to my villagers (they can be cooking instead of crafting), once in a while in bottles from my beach, and my 1 daily recipe from the chef in my restaurant on happy home paradise, I’ve been getting a lot of duplicates recently especially from my chef, so it makes me hopefully think I’m getting there in having all the diys.

Nintendo missed out on putting a lobster dish in the game. What’s the point of having lobsters in-game if you can’t make them into food?

Also, I have a small farm on my island where I’m growing 10 of each crop and 5 of each pumpkin color, I only have orange pumpkins, so I gotta breed to get the rest. I think 10 for each is plenty for me, and I didn’t want my farm to take up too much space

There’s the one recipe that takes all three, but yea, I find it weird that orange is used over and over again and the others just kinda take up space.

If you could cook with already cooked food, the salad stuffed tomato would be the same, but just add 1 salad
