Just so everyone is on the same page this is NOT an actual front end alignment. This is just “aligning” the steering wheel to be straight.

Much appreciated, just did a 4” lift on my Gladiator today and my ESC light came on with about 30 degrees off on my steering wheel. It took longer to watch this video than it did to fix the problem. Thanks buddy

Mine came on too after I did a 3.5” lift on a JT. My wheel was off almost 90°. Have to do this tomorrow. I’m thinking the light will go off once the steering wheel angle sensor realizes it’s back where it should be compared to the other inertia sensors in the vehicle. Update: after getting steering wheel centered, I drove about 100 yards and the ESC light went off.

This is a well done video. Short and to the point. Just installed a AEV 2.5" lift. Steering wheel not centered. After watching this it took took 10 min to fix. Done. Thanks.

Awesome. Some videos only shows where ti make adjustment. However, this video explain how and what direction to rotate the knurled buckle in reference to the steering wheel. Thanks, it makes adjustment very easy to do.

Yep worked just fine. Except mine looks all muddy from the previous owner and i also couldnt find it because of my protection plate covering it

Yea this isnt an alignment its setting your steering wheel does nothing for toe in or out

appreciate that video, however you initially state your wheel is to your left when you start then later you swap the terminology and state that its going driver vs to the left. Best just to just always use Driver / Passenger as point of reference. Cheers!

When I drive and put the steering wheel straight it goes to the left! In order to go straight I need to turn the steering a little bit to the right .. is this the reason?thanks in advanced

If I’ve got the bracing for the box/trackbar, the aluminum steering linkage, tracbars and 4” lift with control arms I know I’m happy with permanently, is it a good idea to use lock right on all the bolts associated with those parts? I don’t have access to a lift and I’m organizing a Saturday pizza, beer and lift thing and if my past experience is any indication, 4wd shops really like to charge heavy for retorquing etc when they didn’t originally install things

I use locktite on all bolts and nuts.

This is absolutely not an alignment. Unless you have adjustable control arms and track bars. There isn't much of an "alignment" to do on a jeep. You can have your toe set. But that's about it. On my gladiator I have adjustable control arms and track bars. So after my lift an alignment consisted of dialing in the pinion, castor, centering the axle and the toe. Finally ending with adjusting the steering wheel once that was all set.

What's the torque for the 15 mm nut? I can't find it its very easy otherwise. Just wanna torque that bolt properly

I have a 2018 jeep Sahara JL 2.0 turbo I picked up 2021 Jeep gladiator Fox suspension 2.0,will it on my Jeep Sahara? if not please explain and if there’s a way I can reach out to you a number of something

so if it’s toed in or toed out, center the steering wheel and that will fix it 🤔🤔🤔

This s only steering wheel placement, not total toe. Not getting your front toe checked will wreck your front tires.

Can you drive slow with the bokt loose, make adjustments, and then tighten it up fully once adjusted properly?

Do so at your own risk but really not needed if you just carry the right tool in your truck and tighten as and adjust as needed.

Did your track control light come on too?

what's the torque spec on that nut?

Does that turn off the light that comes on when the steering wheel is off center?

The reason the steering is off center is because the axle shifted off center. You should center the axle first, then center your steering wheel.

On old jeeps that was true. The new ones are full cross over. Steering wheel only.

@@c130aviator I just lifted my ‘21 Mojave, the front axle was about an inch and a half toward the driver side. I bought an adjustable track bar to correct it.

Does centering the STEERING wheel affect the alignment of the wheels?

Doesn’t this give the wheel more play? I tried to do this on the aluminum steering box prior to the recall and I feel I lost a lot of stiffness in the wheel. Had the steering box replaced from the recall and the wheel is still a bit to the right on a straight direction but I have the stiffness now. Will me adjusting that ruin the stiffness?

No this is just the turnbuckle. The same thing the dealer does.

This only changes the length of the drag link. Doesn’t do anything to the steering box.

Hope nobody confuses this for an actual alignment. These steps will not change the actual alignment. It is only about centering the wheel. The Jeep can track straight with a good alignment and have the steering wheel off center and a Jeep can have bad alignment with the steering wheel centered.

No you want the tires on the ground to assist in holding the steering while you adjust the wheel.

@@c130aviator I will explain the problem in other way. I go in a flat motorway and I dont touch the wheel. I dont care it its center visual or not. The jeep is going fast to the right. And my steering is very straight by the way :)

This the same on the gladiator rubicon trim?

Yes. It might be hidden by the front skid plate. That has about 8 15mm bolts to remove it if you need more room to work up there. I have mine off since I just installed a winch plate and waited to put it on so I could re-center the steering wheel after I did the lift kit.

This video only helps with aligning the steering wheel. That has nothing to do with the actual alignment of wheels

It's all you need on these Jeeps. They have a crossover steering system, unlike previous models where the link is in the crossover.
