If I remember correctly, the Arrowtongue is about the same size as a T.Rex.

@@adawnicusautocon I thought so. But unlike the Extinct Earth Dinosaur, it doesn’t ROAR. I know, I know. These days lately, we don’t know if some Dinosaurs Roared or not. Except for 1 thing, their vocal cords didn’t survive so we double know what they sounded like. As much as the color pigmentation on their Feathers & Scales that are fossilized. But since then, we only took many guesses.

False. The Arrow Tongue is actually bigger than a Trex. In the original book titled "Expedition" an Arrow Tongue is an 8 meter tall carnivore with a bulky body and muscular legs that allowed it to reach speeds up to 40 mph. This animal is physically superior to a Trex in every category except bite force. The specimen showed here is not fully grown

We send these probes out into the void, and they cannot go 40mph ( or 64.4kmh for the folk across the lake ) ?! Also, been awhile since I've watched the entire program but, if memory serves, we not only made these things slower then a 1980's 'Moped' but we also failed to give them even the most basic of self defense measures... say the ability to send out a electrical, microwave, or sonic pulse that would be uncomfortable to the target without ( hopefully ) killing it. Not everything out there is gonna cotton to us, get your head out of the clouds, Space Hippies!!

The probes definitely were underdefended, yeah. Simply emitting a loud noise would probably be enough to scare off most attackers if used sparingly, though an electrified skin for further... persuasion... would probably be advisable as well. And painful for whatever attacked the probes.

@@kennyholmes5196 I am all for peace, I am probably more of a Hippie then I care to admit. But it seems reasonable to hope for the best, but be prepared for hostility. There was an old axiom about 'being at peace, but still keeping your bow strung' that makes sense to me. We will most probably meet a crap-ton of life on a microbial scale, or of negligible threat to us. But there is always that chance for trouble, and I really would hate to see all that effort gone, all because we didn't give our robot a simple taser or something. I would really loathe the idea of having to kill an alien life form, even one that is overtly hostile, gladly the Military is playing with a lot of non-lethal riot dispersal weaponry that the world space agencies can look at. Uncomfortable no doubt, but no injury or lasting ill-effect. Keep on keeping on!!

Animal life (or at least, this world equivalent to animals) on Darwin 4 are referred to as liquivores, meaning that they have a diet of liquid substances such as blood, like in Vampire Bats or Spiders, so that thing is purely for consuming food, not for what you probably thought it was

Mate, life has to start off somewhere. You think single celled life are gonna evolve into intelligent multicellar life overnight. It took 3 billion years for unicellular life to become multicullelar, then after that it took another 700 million years for intelligent life to evolve here on earth
