I just love that the Giants are smart, savvy, and technologically advanced enough to travel the stars like we travel between cities, but yet aren’t smart enough to have any security checks or defenses in place for incoming ships that threaten their very existence as a species; especially knowing they have stockpiles of some genocidal species ending substance uncounted for somewhere out there. Totally logical, great thinking guys

They tought they were meeting their creator’s, their god. They couldn’t know it was David in the ship. They were smarter than us, more close to nature, more peaceful as opposed to us. They knew about their origins and probably tought that one day their god might return to judge them. Judge their way of life. They are an offspring from the engineers like us, just not exactly like us, in fact, closer to the engineers.

I watched this in cinema. Trust me it is a beautiful when it comes to visuals but a big disappointment to the actual franchise. Cheap , cheesy, predictable jump scares and situations. Not missing anything and you save yourself 2 hours. Lack of braincells in almost all the decisions taken in this movie.

Yeah I think he was at that moment the top billing actor and so they pretty much centered the whole movie about him and another him.

what made me drop this movie is the lack of causion of the people in the film, no one, not even one. they are exploring an alien land without any armor or suit that could defend them of tiny micro organisms...

Traveling to a planet, breathing the air, a good way to die quickly since bacteria and whatever else you're exposed to having zero defense for would kill you off quick. The casting of both Prometheus and the follow on movie were horrible. Good effort, good effects, bad script writing, needing a totally different cast.

Who’s to say that they don’t have super medication for that? They already mastered space travel from trillions of miles, who’s to say they didn’t create a super medicine that could kill nearly all known and unknown viruses and bacteria? I enjoyed the folding back of the Engineers' logic, that humanity was unworthy and must be exterminated as explained in an early script of Prometheus. Then, only to have an android created by humans eradicate them and any other life form it encounters. Brutal stuff. A variation of ' the machines will kill us all,' sure. Not terribly original, but interesting in that the android could get so intellectually twisted that it could be completely comfortable with committing genocide. The 'full circle' of it was quite interesting. The species that the Engineers felt unworthy destroyed not only them, but any other life form who ran across David's creation. The final reveal as Daniels is going into cyrosleep is horrifying. I thought whole journey lined up with Alien in a satisfying way. I know many will disagree...

Awesome movie the only problem I had with it was not showing us really what happened to Shaw other than the short prelude, and most definitely excited for the final movie in this trilogy that is supposed to connect with the original Aliens movie. The last interview I saw with Ridley Scott it was over a year ago but he said the script was finished but he had other projects He had to do first and then they had to see if they could even come up with the money to make the movie. Supposed to be about the engineers hunting down David for what he did and there's to be a huge war between the engineers and David's army of xenomorphs which are supposed to be the original species he creates from Daniels. Also it's supposed to take place on the moon Acheron also known as LV-426 and the war is what destroyed the surface and atmosphere. Just hope we get it.

This franchise made me realised if we made foolish man a leader of humankind, we definitely cease to exist. Unknown territory? Let’s explore there instead of our intended destination which deemed safe. Unknown man? Let’s trust him since he’s one of our own although we learnt that even family betrays each other. Weird flora? Let’s touch it without any protection gear or any knowledge if it’s poisonous. Wow, really a fool.

@@jayhome2715 the movie is of course, OBVIOUSLY FAKE. But human aren't. The reflection of human error exists in real life. But that is not the point here. The point here is, it's either the human race in this movie made the worse possible decision out there, leading the existence of the franchise, or they made the smartest the decision then the whole alien and predator won't even make it into the video game.

Covenant is anything BUT a masterpiece. It is borderline epic, but universally disappointing to Alien fans.

@@ronneyrendon5045 Couldn't agree more. Riddley Scott was brilliant with the original Alien. The second film just kind followed the same basic script as the first one, just with more action and guns. The whole Queen/Hive concept that Cameron introduced in Aliens really took away from the horror of the first film, in my opinion. But then these last 2 films, it's like Scott is just milking the franchise for more money and couldn't really care less about the story.

No it was disappointing to cry babies that just wanted another alien typical same old same old alien movie it's too much for these people to have to understand the backstory and use their brain a little bit I mean these are the same people that said Alien versus predator was a good movie so give me a break. Totally looking forward to Alien Awakening the final movie in this chapter to connect to the original movie the script is already done.

The recap after the movie recap helped me solidify what I did just see. It’s comparable to your English teacher telling you to analyze a story , it definitely helped me

If you never watched previous Alien movies, then Alien Covenant will definitely be a classic to you. However ,if you watch covenant after having watched the previous alien movies ,then covenant will be underwhelming.

The audio book was different. The pilot of the explore mission was Tennessees wife and Tennessee was up on the mother ship.

The aliens as the 'perfect organism' has always been laughably wrong on just about every level. It worked in the first movie when we didn't know anything about it and it just killed ppl then got blown out and air lock. But now they've been explored, needlessly, and we see they're just easily killed predators. The only reason they do so well is because the script has the characters act laughably stupidly. But yeah, that always bothered me too. That they grow in mass without eating an equal massed object. My head canon is that they take in carbon from the air and then turn it into body material, but we all know it's just something you're not supposed to think about.

Nothing can survive or grow without taking in nutrients and water. If you don't see them doing it then they're doing it in a way you simply don't know about. There are no ants, here or anywhere in the universe, that can grow without eating and taking in water. There are no magical ants or desert creatures that grow in size without consuming.

wait so you're telling me that instead of going to the intended planet they just decided to go to a different one cuz they didnt wanna sleep some more ? humanity isnt advanced enough to do that in this movie, this isnt halo where they can just take a detour and be back tommorow trough slipspace jumps. these trips would be carefully planned out by experts,(who were likely not onboard) so they could get to the planet and should it be needed return. you cant just take a detour without prior planning xD also if someone is contaminated with an unknown disease on a strange planet... you dont take him with you and touch him with your bare hands or even go near him, you leave him behind, cruel but also the only way to ensure no one else gets contaminated

Well, Scanning a planet from orbit is much more detailed than a planet lightyears away. A potentially better planet than a estimated guess. True, with today's technology you can't just drift abit off course but it's the future! Not wearing masks on a planet or not noticing Walters wounds not healing(I know the difference between an older car and a new car that i own or an iPhone generation model).

The ending of Covenant was very dark, extremely creepy and incredibly depressing I was fearful of what lifefrms David would create with his almost endless resources ..and what he was planning to do with them . : O

This movie did need to be made. We needed to know how a planet full of ducking xenomorphs came to be. And how they relate to the engineers and the original space jockey. Basically this ship with the colonists is 5he one that docked into lv 14. The aliens took over the planet and the colonists who were the incubators for the aliens of "ALIENS" were slaughtered by the aliens created in this movie. It was very entertaining and only die hard fans would enjoy this movie.

I'm in the minority here but I actually enjoyed this film (and I love the original quadrilogy too.) For me it goes something like this: 1. Alien 2. Aliens 3. Prometheus 4. Alien 3 5. Covenant 6. Resurrection Can't wait for Alien Romulus. Hopefully it will get the franchise back on track.

i think when david realized hybrids were coming out of dead egineers he wanted to see what would happen if one of those came out of a human. than his experiment on Shaw began.

Probably because the idea that the alien is a design of robot, that itself is a design of humans. With the very first movie, the tone set was that the universe contains some REALLY nasty stuff, and isn't the techno-nerd galaxy that Star Trek or Star Wars envisioned. That a creature like the alien could evolve on some distant world was very intriguing. Then Riddley Scott is all, "Yeah, nah, f* that. I'm gonna make it about the failure of human weakness and hubris. That's an original concept"

What a disservice to the fans that this movie was made! 😡😡😡It showed that the real antagonist/villains are androids/biohumans like Walter and that the Aliens are the tools and human beings such as us are the spoils/cannon fodder. WTF ! Something Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) will disagree violently along with her android (winona ryder). Also meant that all the sacrifices the humans made were for NOTHING.

As an Engineer and a PhD, I feel embarrassed that these are called scientists. Safety procedures is so poor, ethics and professionalism is sub-zero. It disgust me professionally. The scientific community should criticise this Stvpidity.
