@@jonathanmacancela2284 i think we need another movie; the Xenomorph is more bio-mechanical and it's eusocial like bees and ants, meanwhile the Protomorph is more biological and it just behaves like a purely ravenous animal with no intentions of creating a hive or the survival of its species, hell, it doesn't even care about its own survival. So i think the Protomorph is (although very dangerous) a failed version of the Xenomorph we all know, and thus the name it has, "Protomorph" so it's like a prototype of the final version.

@@jonathanmacancela2284 I subscribe to the continuity that this is simply David's attempt at reverse-engineering the Xenomorph. In short, he didn't. This is his take on the weapon. It's like someone who's only seen off-hand notes on an Abrams, but manages to build a BT-5. The Derelict was a Juggernaut carrying a payload of Xenomorph eggs and it was at least as old as the facility on LV-223. So it was either a weapon transport or a bomber. The difference between that and the one David used to kill the Engineers was that the Black Ooze is far more chaotic in its effects, while Xenomorphs are a product of a very refined version of it, with predictable effects.

most people assume it's CGI but 90% of the Protomorph's scenes are a guy in a suit. watch the behind the scenes. he's a very tall, lanky man. what they do is CGI-blend to make movement etc more seamless. I'm a huge fan of practical effects, it's one reason why The Thing (1982) is my favorite movie of all time, but you gotta recognize the reality and the need for CGI in some situations. My only gripe with the Proto in this movie is - not enough clear shots. Like of it walking upright at the end, so cool, but so dark and obstructed. I also hate that they didn't include the scene from the trailer where it's running through the corridor, wall to wall, in the actual movie.

I LOVE how vicious & unstoppable they made both species. They did a VERY, VERY good job showing them to be EXTREMELY agile, fast & total disregard of every danger, they were just meant to kill precisely & definitely, usually in the most ruthless way possible. Awesome You don't get the same effect in this clip, but in the original movie, I love how heavy they made the Proto sound, compared to the Neo. God, looking at the alien...it's like the definition of the uncanny valley. Similar enough to us with it's somewhat humanoid form to be considered familiar, but everything else being so fundamentally different as to give us an intrinsic sense of wrongness. The unfamiliar violating the realm of the familiar. Also, I find it ironic that with the original design at the start of the video, the tail is censored, but the head, the very thing in the design that is very definitively supposed to look like a phallus, isn't. Because...that makes sense.

This seems to explain also why it seemed to "bond" with David when it was born. He was the closest to a queen it got. Edit: Now that i think about it’s a cool idea, but then also my issue might be the fact that the OG Xenomorph from 1979 didn’t have a Queen either to our knowledge so it would have had to been spastic and aggressive in the same manner.

I am one of the few people who actually wanted to see more exploration with the Engineers and how they were trying to experiment with the Xenomorphs so they could weaponize them and hopefully get a connection to the space jockey in the original Allen film. And instead of Xenomorphs being these mysterious creatures that have always existed they are now creations of David so basically they only exist because of humans. Lazy shitty writing.

I would also like to think the engineers would have been smarter than David and humans to not allow themselves to have become extinct in such a way. The movie was kind of a throw off… I would have thought the aliens were the pets of the engineers and David in some odd twist and gripe against humanity would have thrown in with them and lured the humans into some trap where the humans became a spectacle being hunted by the xenomorphs and then maybe the xenomorphs (doing what they do)…. Escape and cause havoc all around. Why Ridley Scott ignored my script ideas is beyond me 😂?

1:00 Ridley Scott directed this movie, as well as the original. In the first film, he mastered capturing the terror of not seeing the creature on camera the whole time. You as the viewer feel the same fear of the characters. Quick glimpses, and slower more sinister movements is what made it more scary. Here, we see c.g.i that is so bad, its pretty close to that of the Sy-Fy channel movies, with a creature in broad daylight running faster than a chicken. There is no fear, or suspense in its presence. Hard to believe its the same directior. Its like he lost his touch.

The Protomorph looks more organic than the xenomorph. After the events of Covenant, David must've infected part of the ship's passengers and managed to continue his research into perfecting the creature. That's when he adds the biomechanical part of its anatomy as it finally becomes the xenomorph we all know. Maybe he encounters more engineers on another planet but they take his work, destroy him and then set off to transport newly created eggs to a safe location (LV-426) but along the way something goes wrong and the ship makes a crash landing...

The alien itself is nice, but there’s one thing that I cannot forgive, neither here or in Alien 3: the xenomorph’s Pov. Showing us that it simply sees. Like us. Answering one of the most intriguing, genius and terrifying character design choice ever conceived in the history of cinema. Making it all fucking vain. That’s how unforgivable that choice is, at least, to me.

Only part of Covenant that was half decent. Loved how violent & nasty this Protomorph was, Xenomorphs are more deadly but they seem to kill you swiftly and quickly unless they taking you alive back to the nest to be a host. This was just animalistic and bloodthirsty and was straight up mauling people. Hoping the next Alien project with have a mix of both, the terrifying Xenos hiding and stalking you in the dark but also having a Xeno close to the protomorph that just wants to turn you into a bloody mist.

Actually this thing is acting normal. If you read the comics the xenos usually behave like this especially in a hive or on the homeworld. Look at alien isolation the xeno mercs groups of people by chasing them down. The only reason the og big chap didn't was because of the limitations of the time. Even aliens , alien 3, ressurection ect. Have the alien be hyper agressive while still being in the shadows like this xenomorph. I actually like this xeno more than the og big chap and warrior xeno (i know heresy hang me in the streets) i live those movies A HELL OVA LOT MORE but if they ever did a remaster with modern tech but keeping everything else the same id want to see this xeno design
