This is absolutely what America needs to listen to. We need to remind ourselves that we are made of diversity. We are all on the same page and should help build a better environment for everyone. Thanks Alicia for reminding me that there is always hope.

you're right actually ahah guess i should've said rnb/soul. but what I was trying to say is that, in the middle of all this radio type songs that only talk about relationships, sex, drugs and all those superficial things, she talks about the real stuff and allows us to really revalue our priorities while still making a catchy, radio song. i didn't really express myself the right way (:

Fantastic! World, listen to the lyrics!! If we all treated people like we want to be treated, the world would be a better, happy place. Sounds so simple? If we just tried it, one person at a time, one day at a time, just perhaps we would haven't all these divisions. More love to our fellow man, then it wouldn't be just a dream! Love you world!!!!!

Thumbs up if you think so too :) Love from Italy, Elena

IDC that this was originally written/posted 3 years ago today. I truly & honestly beLIEve that we need this song & lyrics more 2day in 2020 than ever before. A.K. you are my "Sister" in Christ. For those of you who don't believe in Christ but beLIEeve in spirituality, this song is it. A "Holy War" is a war that will continue to be fought, but won by those whom choose to "forgive" AGAIN, Alicia, Thank you for your honesty, & encouragement to those who need it, & most importantly, showing your LOVE 2 ur fans. I can't express enough how down to earth you are regardless of all of your success. My dream is to one day meet you in person or attend one of your shows. I've been a fan of yours since "Fallen" back in the day. However, with the current pandemic, I'm not able to afford either. I just sincerely from the bottom of my heart want u 2 know, I'm sending all my love & appreciation for all u do. I'm not on social media, but am the #1 comment on your most recent youtube "blacklove" w/your Husband. You're beautiful both inside & out. I couldn't appreciate you more for all that you've done for me & others through your music & beautiful voice. MGBUA...much love to you 💜

I'll re-state Alexandra Oliveira comment that fits perfectly this song: "Alicia Keys is a breath of fresh air.". I've always loved Alicia's talent. I'm not much of a fan of some of her producer's pushed songs. But when she's being truly creative she truly shines! Keep it up Alicia. We need more of where this is coming from!

Soooo beautiful in every way! This song is refreshing, vulnerable, real...everything the world needs so bad right now. Thank you for getting it and for putting it into music. Nothing my better than that. 😊

If war is holy and sex is obscene We've got it twisted in this lucid dream Baptized in boundaries, schooled in sin Divided by difference, sexuality and skin Oh so we can hate each other and fear each other We can build these walls between each other Baby, blow by blow and brick by brick Keep yourself locked in, yourself locked in Yeah we can hate each other and fear each other We can build these walls between each other Baby, blow by blow and brick by brick Keep yourself locked in, yourself locked Oh maybe we should love somebody Oh maybe we could care a little more So maybe we should love somebody Instead of polishing the bombs of holy war What if sex was holy and war was obscene And it wasn't twisted, what a wonderful dream Living for love, unafraid of the end Forgiveness is the only real revenge Oh so we can heal each other and feel each other We can break these walls between each other Baby, blow by blow and brick by brick Keep yourself open, yourself open Yeah we can heal each other and feel each other We can break these walls between each other Baby, blow by blow and brick by brick Keep yourself open, you're open So maybe we should love somebody Maybe we could care a little more So maybe we should love somebody Instead of polishing the bombs of holy war What if love was holy and hate obscene We should give life to this beautiful dream Cause peace and love ain't so far If we nurse our wounds before they scar Nurse our wounds before they scar
