More about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland:
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world (Wonderland) populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, and its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre.
Alice was published in 1865, three years after the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and the Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed in a boat, on 4 July 1862, up the Isis with the three young daughters of Henry Liddell (the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University and Dean of Christ Church): Lorina Charlotte Liddell (aged 13, born 1849) ("Prima" in the book's prefatory verse); Alice Pleasance Liddell (aged 10, born 1852) ("Secunda" in the prefatory verse); Edith Mary Liddell (aged 8, born 1853) ("Tertia" in the prefatory verse).
The journey began at Folly Bridge near Oxford and ended five miles away in the village of Godstow. During the trip the Reverend Dodgson told the girls a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. The girls loved it, and Alice Liddell asked Dodgson to write it down for her. He began writing the manuscript of the story the next day, although that earliest version no longer exists.
To add the finishing touches he researched natural history for the animals presented in the book, and then had the book examined by other children-particularly the children of George MacDonald. He added his own illustrations but approached John Tenniel to illustrate the book for publication.
On 26 November 1864 he gave Alice the handwritten manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, with illustrations by Dodgson himself, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day".
But before Alice received her copy, Dodgson was already preparing it for publication and expanding the original 15,500-word text to 27,500 words, most notably adding the episodes about the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Tea-Party.

Reading through the comments here, it saddens me knowing that this book has been ruined for others because it was made into a homework assignment. I am so happy I read this book on my own accord as a child. I read the book/listen to the audio at least three to four times a year. I've always loved the illustrations that the different artist's and illustrators have made in the past 150+ years. I love the history behind this book. *sigh*

Just finished this; my first ever time experiencing this story. It felt a bit long for what it was going for, but I really enjoyed it. This story really reminded me of a happy dream (which is what it was). I feel like I never dream anymore and when I do they feel like blessings, but when I do dream, very rarely do I get those good dreams, like I think I’ve only had like 2-3 of them so far in my life. So having a story that is pretty much just one happy dream for close to 3 hours made me really happy. At some points I even laughed out loud (Which is REALLY rare). Overall I can’t put this lower than a perfect 10/10. I just wished I read this earlier in my life 😢

I think it's actually about growing up. Having to eventually be rid of childish innocence in order to handle the events towards the end of the boom. At the end of the book she becomes too mature to stay in wonderland so she wakes up. If u think about it too, she feels uncomfortable with her constant changing sizes, which represents puberty

All of you have done nothing wrong while being wrong and all the while making me angry. Alice's adventures in Wonderland is pure nonsense. The whole point of the book is literally: 𝙣𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚. Finding any "deeper meaning" is against the purpose of the book. The point of the book was to amuse one small child.
