Pepsidoodle Helms your so lucky to be an inheritor of what I think made America great I’m biracial and born in Panama and became a US citizen thru my German Dad born in Iowa America is being ruined by a sinister corrupt entity that infiltrated politics the government the media and everything that was good I love America with all my heart and soul and I believe the ol days with tremendous talent like your great grandma is what God saw once Saving but not anymore I’m afraid!

Pepsidoodle Helms Alice Faye is one of my idols and I simply adore her. I'm in my thirties and I am the third generation of women in my family who are huge Alice Faye fans. In fact I'm going to be naming my daughter Alice after Alice Faye.

Oh, boy! What a coup it would have been for David Merrick to have signed Alice Faye to head up the New York cast during its original run. As we see here, she would have been a fantastic Dolly. What a great performance!

When I saw her recently in Hello Frisco Hello I thought she was like a double for my sister. Maybe that's why when I was a kid Alice Faye was my fav. I was amazed by how many songs she sang in that movie. A real class act trooper. WOW!

Alice was a superb movie and radio actress. I don't believe she had that "over the top" dynamic (think Ethel M or Carol C) that creates a spectacle in the theater. Her talents served her well, and it was great to see, and especially hear, her in this role.

Remember the 1st time I saw her and was hooked when she portrayed Lillian Russell, in the same-named film from 1940! Her beauty, and unique voice have forever been a thrill for me! This production is lovely, and I thank you for posting this classic! Best wishes, varadero

@@Arkelk2010 I would have loved to have seen Alice do the real "Dolly". Every Dolly was different and Alice would have put her own stamp on it. And she would have looked absolutely gorgeous in those costumes!

Alice may not have Ginger Roger's "six o'clock kicks" (that means kicking the leg so high that the knee meets the nose!") which she did in the national tour which landed in Cincinnati when I was in high school, but she's got the stuff!
