Back in 1999, a group of young Dutch DJ’s and talented producers collaborated with frontwoman Judy to form Alice Deejay. Alice Deejay’s album 'Who Needs Guitars Anyway?' featured no less than 5 international hits, sold over 1 million albums and 5 million singles and crushed the charts in Germany, France, South Africa, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Canada - just to name a few. Back in the 90s, you could hear lead singles Better Off Alone, Will I Ever and Back In My Life riding the airwaves non-stop.
Not to mention the influence Alice Deejay has had on dance music; many great artists such as David Guetta and Akon, Whiz Khalifa, Farruko, Sam Feldt x Jonas Blue and now megastars Kim Petras & Nicki Minaj scored hits using the hook of ‘Better off Alone’.
The music video was shot in Miami and features Alice DJ - Judith Pronk, MIla and Angelique - in the iconic colourful setting. The video was partially directed by Cousin Mike with the 1711 Production Group. The video also consists of desert scenes from the original video dubbed UK edit, directed by Olaf van Gerwen with Blood Simple.
Check out the UK edit video here: • Alice Deejay - Better ...

My uncle showed me this song. He was the youngest out of the family. when he would take me and my cousins to the movie theater in his jetta he played this and a lot of trance songs from this time wow. Dam this my anthem. The first rave I went to I heard it I went crazy i was older at the time. I was 10 or 11 when I heard it first or maybe younger but early 2000s. My favorite trance song well trance songs where popping back then damm a lot of good songs

Hey just a reminder that God loves us, through his son Jesus Christ, who died for all our sins on the cross and rose from the grave. We are all sinners and that’s why Jesus did that for us, none of us can get saved by our own works. Believe on his sacrifice for you. 💓

"And that's what makes it look like hip-hop"
It amazes me how this song manages to sound happy and sad at the same time, and i'm not necessarily talking about the nostalgia, but about the song structure itself and it's melody - more precisely, the lead melody. The way the notes are put together in this section is interesting because you only get the full picture when all notes are present. Before that ( 00:00 to 00:30 ), the G minor scale progresses as it should on a typical trance/eurodance track (by that i mean "rapid arpeggiated sequences"), but then the final notes are added and the melody goes down, like reeeally down, and you get yourself in this weird position where you don't really know if you're supposed to follow the lead keys or the background synths. That along with the vague subjective vocals ("do you think you're better off alone?"; "talk to me") create this unique and strange atmosphere of melancholy. If this song was composed with a different background sound, it would be a depressing, negative vibe song, and this is proven by Salem's and Mr. Kitty's cover of it.
