I love how this was shown to prove how valuable everyone's life is in a work of art. Most people never would look at a background dancer, and the documentary about Alice Barker is worth so much to me. She went through little recognition because people would never bother to spell her name correctly, and she would dance for free because it was something she loved to do. I have never met anyone that was happy just being a background dancer, and I think people have a lot to learn from Alice Barker.
@JaesadaSrisuk

There was a fantastic documentary a couple years ago called "10 Feet From Stardom" about backup singers and how under appreciated their art is. Thousands of talented women and men work singing in the background, sometimes for people who are significantly less talented yet more successful than they are.

I second that Matt, I just hope it would stay pure and true to the music like she was.if it was done by someone like (for example) Tyler Perry and NOT by Spike lee..it would need to keep all the anger and hate out of it. I know it was nasty then, but if it was focused on her and her dancing career, it could be such a great movie.but if her & her legacy was a secondary to the problems of then & now, it would take from (what appears to be) her character and passion for the musical art an her dancing. She was an exceptional Lady, I hope they do a movie about her.

Alice Barker wasn’t joking when she said this music was amazing. It almost seems like a really fun, cheerful, workout. I would have loved to witness this!!
In a way it is sad that so many actors, dancers, and extras have been in so many movies but they are never recognized. They are competent people who are good at what they do but they never have the opportunity to stand out in a lead role. Yet they show up again and again and again mainly because they love what they do and not because they are well paid. For Alice Barker, this is recognition well deserved. I am sure there are probably many more films in which she appeared and performed well in the role she was given. May she received all the accolades she has earned.

Really worth reading or hearing here on KZread. At first the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms. .... Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Alice has such a cute smile
In 1943, the dances are just tap dance *In 2019, the dances are twerking* I would seriously pick the 40’s then today

Wonderful Classic Filming
Who would thumbs down this video? It’s so special and beautiful. RIP Alice Barker!
I am so happy she got to see herself and relive these moments. Warms my heart.
There's a lot of unnamed talent in those videos. People who deserve far more recognition than what they were given.
I would like to thank you for enlightening me of Alice Barker. She was magnificent to say the very least. May She be in Heaven dancing like she did in these great films. She was such a classic woman, even at the age of 102!
That beautiful smile of hers was unmistakable
Looking back at old videos like these helps me to remember that beauty is immortal. The people in this are no different than people now... The only thing that’s changed is how we live our lives. Thank you for putting this together for all of us! I really do enjoy watching wartime entertainers do their thing... The class and zest they had for life is palatable!

My same state of mind I’m so intrigued with the past and how people lived before I was even thought of!! Life keeps moving no matter what!
People were so classy and elegant back then. They also seemed to worry less and looked so much happier and content with their lives. While in the present day I feel like almost everyone is depressed or doesn’t like this or that. Such a loss..

Hi everyone 🖐 Ms. Barker has an IMDB entry.
Watching this, it feels like they're immortalized. We live on in what we leave behind. How beautiful to think you haven't truly left those who loved you.
It's a great joy to find a treasure like Alice Barker in this video compilation and the one in 2014 when she was 102 and saw her movie shorts for the first time since doing those productions as a long-legged chorus girl. May God bless her dancing soul. Lovely to look at.
This is amaaaazing❣️❣️❣️ My Grandparents were 15-25 during these years. My Dad was soon to be born😎 God bless all of these beautiful legacies 💐
I have comfort knowing that happy young woman in the video lived a full long life ♥️ RIP

What a wonderful time! It makes me so so content that everyone was having a joyous performance, especially the beautiful Alice Barker.
Omg , *applause* please this is ART, i love how this girl have his Documental!!! BEUTIFUL... PRECIOUS.... Yolo!!!
A wonderful tribute, A Wonderful women (got to meet her when I was 16), Rest in sweet peace Alice!
This is just Amazing, i can’t believe all the smiles in their happy faces. The music, the dance just makes me wanna dance! All those nice instruments like the piano and trumpet! It’s like dreaming. Me myself is very interested in these types of stuff and it really makes me wanna go back in time and i thought that way ever since I was little and I still do! It just amazes me
I like the old dances better than these new ones
Thoroughly enjoyed these! Thank you so much for preserving this heritage. I remember them from when they were played on B&W TV on Saturday afternoons when I was a kid in the '70s.
Life is too short!!! RIP Alice Barker.
I love this era the dancing, singing and costumes. Miss Alice Barker could sho shake that thang. May perpetual light shine upon her soul and may she rest in peace❤

This was wonderful to watch. Thank you Alice Barker for sharing your joyful talents with the world.
These were amazing it’s sad there is no music like this anymore or even musical performances like this I find it incredible Alice Barker lived to such an old age and truly enjoyed what she did which was dancing and performing
I always feel i was part of this century, music and dance feel so connected to it.
They should make a movie about her
Thank you for sharing these lovely videos. She all stole our hearts when we watched her viewing the good ol' days.
to everyone saying you wish you were born at the time of this video: please stop that being said, this is so lovely, love seeing how happy and energetic they all are. rest in peace.

Sorry this comment is ridiculously late, but I agree with the first part. People think things were 100% better back then, but they seem to forget that technology, the way we socialized, and other things for the most part were WAY less advanced. Plus, there were events such as The Great Depression and the World Wars which didn't benefit anyone. It's totally fine to be fascinated by those times, but it's pretty ignorant to act like nothing bad happened. You make a great point. And yes, may all their beautiful souls R.I.P. 🌹
Alice is great :D They seem to have so much fun, so fun to watch.
Great stuff! Thank you for posting!
God bless Ms. Barker with an eternity of happiness.
I love America We have the finest ladies in the world!! Props to you Alice for staying around for 103 years and sharing this together with us. Rest In Peace.
Thank you for the upload. Really enjoyed the dancing and music. Very talented performers too. Ms. Barker especially.
