This video is on a 2003 Golf with 1.9L Tdi ALH engine code. This information should apply to all Tdi's up till 2003 and would apply to Vw diesels 76 and up.

If you do not have a slide hammer, DONT PANIC!!! Go to your local hardware store and pickup a nut to the thread of the injector head and a long bolt the same thread, I used a weight from a gym set I had laying around. Thread nut halfway on injector and thread bolt tight on other half of remaining threads on the nut, make sure to have the weight on the bolt obv.. And bam, you got a slide hammer!

I’m having a problem in my mk4 alh tdi 5 speed. Whenever I starting coming to a stop the car will run really rough ( shakes like it’s about to stall ) then as soon as the car is completely stopped it sounds perfectly fine again and drives fine. Weather I put it in neutral or hold the clutch in as a approach a stop it still does it

what you have is commonly called "slow down shudder" on internet. I have a video on it where it was easily solved with a IQ (injected quantity) adjustment through the scan tool, but sometimes a mechanical adjustment of the QA (quantity adjuster) on the top of the injection pump might be necessary. @@CoolAirVw do you think I could get away with trying to loosen the top of the injection pump and make adjustments to see if it gets better or worse without the vcds? I just don’t want it to hurt the injection pump, I’ll have to wait to get a vcds tool

Hey coolair I just deleted my egr. Now it’s throwing a code 3130 for the egr and when it throws the code and goes into limp mode. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or am I just gonna keep having to clearing the code.

year make and model would be helpful. Probably just tuning for no code would be enough.

I believe that the low power problem is from a different code it also threw P1557.

@@austinrudd463 If the code just started after egr delete then look for mistakes made during that. Hoses left off, egr block plates leaking ect.
Bah, that's cheating, taking the vacuum reservoir ball off! Fight around it as the sadistic engineers intended! Jokes aside, thank you for the simplified demonstration of the process. Any chance you have tips for getting a good seal on the crush washers when reinstalling ALH injectors? I have one injector that refuses to seat cleanly, even after taking it back out and cleaning the bore and seating surface, as well as using a new washer.

My 79 Rabbit and 89 Golf came with threaded injectors that were so easy to get out and take apart with a 1 1/8 deep socket . VW engineering regresses more and more with each passing year. Shame on you VW.

@@CoolAirVw same bro...same 🤣 even the sway bar brackets are welded on my ea888 gli 14'. Not cool VW! That means no replacement bushings, you have to replace the whole sway bar, which can't be done unless you drop the subframe.
