Algebra 2 - Solving Linear-Nonlinear Systems

What up, fam? Yay Math In Studio here, covering what first appears to be elusive, but isn't all that bad: Solving Linear-Nonlinear systems of equations. That is, suppose you have any of the conic sections, such as a parabola, circle, ellipse, or hyperbola. Where would those graphs intersect each other? Or, where would those graphs intersect a line, if at all? We cover all that here, using both the substitution method, and the elimination method. YAY MATH!

omg we literally had a lesson about non linear systems today, but naturally instead of paying attention in class, i wait until i get home to watch your videos because of how you explain it, and ironically, you just posted this today-the day I need it

Your visual approach preceding the algebraic equations is really turning my ability to understand around. I always thought I was dumb, but the visual first is so understandable! Thanks so much!!

Jeanette Yorba thank you so much for your kind and descriptive feedback. Indeed, visual first is key. Now try this openly accessible quiz I created, all within the website. See the link that says "Take the quiz" www.yaymath.org/algebra2-linear-nonlinear-systems

@@yaymath ,,,, thank you sincerely for your response! Just to let you know,,, I dropped out of math my sophomore year in high school. I walked in the first day to geometry and the teacher just jumped right in to verbally explaining theorems ,,,, after about 10 minutes I got up and walked out,, thinking,,, I am not going to do this to myself. That year my father was diagnosed with cancer and had a near death experience. By my senior year I joined a program that afforded me a Nursing Assistant Certificate from a practical program. No math required. I later wanted to become a physical therapist and had great difficulty with math, algebra, trig., and so on. Life intervened again, and I returned from CSU Northridge PT program to my hometown to care for my mother who was then in her 70's. I am now 52 years old and within and in 2021 I hope to gain admittance to a Doctorate program in Oriental Medicine. Biology, Chemistry et al. are some of the courses I will need to gain admittance. I will be following your posts and really want you to know what a wide audience you are reaching and helping. I want to gain confidence in my math skills and thank you so much again! I will check out your quiz and look forward to your future posts. Best Wishes in all that you do, Jeanette Yorba :)

Possibly you noticed you graphed a hyperbola rather than an ellipse, but hyperbola was the right graph anywho.
