Top Tip: Unwind the main steering wheel retaining bolt so its loose, but then wind it back on a couple of threads so you can bang the wheel from behind without it springing off in your face....Lesson I learned after nearly knocking myself in the 90's swapping the steering wheel on a Ford Cortina :) I literally saw stars.

Just did this swap in my QV yesterday, thanks so much for making this. Total lifesaver, I'd have definitely screwed up. Also, that new wheel is excellent.

I installed an OEM steering wheel wrapped in genuine Alcantara on my EVO X and the similarities between this and what I had to do are surprising. This video will help many people even if the car they’re working on isn’t a quad 🍀 🇮🇹

The alcantara wheel is really worth the trouble. It feels so nice. Thanks for showing the hidden quick release on the battery connector. I looked in the battery compartment and was wondering why there were two negative posts on there and didn’t know it was a quick release on the the connector!

yeah without the right tools you would be very stressed out doing anything on cars today.

Glad you linked your videos in your one year summary. I didn't realize you did this swap. I need to swap my CF wheel for a new one and this will be helpful. I've been slicing the leather on all my steering wheels. I finally figured out it's from the work ID badge dangling from my belt when I get in my cars. I've sold all the other cars, but since the QV is a keeper I'll swap the wheel. As always, thank you for the videos!

this video will make the swap super easy, do not be worried when you disconnect the battery and then the dash lights up like crazy, drive the car and it goes away on its own.

Glad you got the Alcantara/CF wheel. You mentioned the options on your QV on one of the prior videos and I was thinking "You need the steering wheel option too!" Now all is right in the world.

yeah the dealer or the factory screwed up but now its cool, i also added more carbon on the interior which is even cooler now il post that video up soon as well.

Very much enjoying the content. New subscriber. Love the technical aspect...esp compared to my usual automotive you tubers. Interested in the car care products also - will look into soon enough. This is a great video. Picking up my Giulia Veloce tomorrow and will look to do this mod. Would have loved the QV but also have a Ghibli - would have been WWIII in the house if i came home in a QV. :)

Dude, I love you for posting this!! Thanks for posting this. Have to swap same wheel on my Stelvio Quad. When I bought the car there where NONE in my area optioned with the carbon wheel so I had to do this after I bought the car. Doing it next week.

Did the swap and NO ISSUES thanks to your excellent video. Took 3 times to start he car and cycle back to normal with no fault codes from disconnecting the battery. The only trouble I had and it was no big deal were the 2 plugs, one from the air bag and the other from the wheel, they were one wire straight plugs. You have to get the screw driver in the slot and push on the square tang to relapse the locking plug, it will not release if you squeeze it as your supposed to. Anyway all good, thanks again!! Oh...took me maybe a half hour. Always leave your hatch or truck open and don't close it with the battery disconnected.

Nice video. So much easier just buy the carbon alcantera steering wheel option with the car

it was ordered with the car, i think the dealer swapped it with another car for another customer since this car was sitting for a while my customer never claimed it which is how i got the car,

The best 4 door super car in sheeps clothing Ever !!!!! Handy as after 50k miles I here it's a good idea doesn't wear as well as the rest of the car...this is a handy tip ! I'll try and find you again in 11yrs time ! When we might be able to offord one 🤣 ....but grandchild on the way so probably not😥

you can order one from your dealer no idea what they cost but it does jazz up the inside a bit more, go for it.

Can I check if u can swap the non QV wheel button pack to the QV steering wheel? I got a new QV steering wheel but realize the button pack is not correct as it doesn't hv the lane departure button. So I am assuming tt I can transfer my non QV button pack to the new QV steering wheel.

Great video! can you switch this steering wheel instead of the regular one on NON QV model??

I too watched the entire video and don't own the car or plan on doing a steering wheel swap anytime soon. The last steering wheel swap I did was taking one off of a mid 80's Century T-type and installing it on my 1987 Grand National, LOL back in the late 90's. I would also like to report reppin' the 007 Gloss Enhancer over on AutoGeek, been comparing it to Beadmaster, that product is causing quite the ruckus over there. I did order a bottle to see what it's all about, right now 007 Gloss Enhancer is the leader in the clubhouse....

@@autofanaticcars I will let you know but FWIW I went through my bottle of 007 Gloss Enhancer in about a week and a half, LOVE THE STUFF! I should also let you know that other people brought up your product in Pan the Organizers threads for Beadmaker, your in the mix, people are reppin' the product, myself included!

Greatly appreciate this video. I recently took my Quadrofoglio to a body shop for some paint touch up work before I did PPF on it. They badly scruffed up my steering wheel. Any recommendations on where to buy a carbon fiber steering wheel in new condition? The Alfa dealer quoted me a price for over $2000! Up course I'm going to make the body shop pay for it!

no idea i kinda just know how much to torque from years doing steering wheel swaps you need to feel it once it bottoms out

Also did you notice how much wasted space the QV has in the trunk? The both sides have lots of space around the wheel wells and under the floor and foam where the rear fuse panel is located there’s a huge plastic bin about 3 ft x 1ft and 8 inches deep just mostly empty...

yes i keep my Safety Seal kit right behind the battery it fits perfectly.

If you had gotten the correct steering wheel you would not of had to do all of the swapping out of the innards correct?

How did you pull the wheel off the shaft? Did you need a wheel puller or did it pull off easily ?

no puller needed once you remove the 24mm nut it pulls off the shaft with no effort,

Auto Fanatic Ok cool thanks man! I had a 02 Denali and needed a wheel puller or a couple really hard yanks to remove it , it seems like all modern cars these days the wheel pulls off easily , thanks again for the vids

Have you had any reliability issues? Wanted a Giulia QV but got scared so I got an M3, now I am thinking of getting one again.

@@autofanaticcars agreed once they are 3 to 4 years old i just read up a lot on many bugs the giulia had and maybe hoped theyd kink those out in the next model year. By the looks of yours they got much better with the MY18

Had my QV for about 10 months and 7600 miles. Zero problems, tracked it twice so it’s not a garage queen either.

I have removed my steering wheel and put it back. I'm 100% sure that I put it back correctly (allignment). But now the the steering wheel isn't 100% in the centre when I drive. How to fix this? Does it have something to do with steering wheel angle reset in MultiEcuScan?

not sure i have removed my wheel so many times and know what you are saying i even made a mistake. you must make sure the spline is dead center it is easy to make it 1 tooth off and it is hard to really see inside where the wheel goes. maybe remove the airbag and try again and use a good light source or a helper. hope this works out for you

@@autofanaticcars thank you for your reply. I just disassembled the steering wheel again, and it was perfectly fine. I have a Stelvio, it only can be placed in 1 way, it is impossible to do it wrong (tried it with the spline off centre, it is impossible). Steering wheel angle reset doesn't help either.

if the wheel is little angle(notch) misaligned, is it possible to fit in? Or the design is error proofing to prevent misalignment?
