She was playing a stereotypical powerful woman who = a bitch, and the character was just plain mean - this is not being a ‘Queen’ or remotely empowering for any woman. It simply repeats the stereotype that a strong woman has to be beguiling, sexy, beautiful, well dressed and bitchy. Horrible character, horrible show.

Now of the following, these ladies have in one way or another touched the lives of everyone that they have encountered. Such beauty, power, prestiege, and zest of JOAN C+ Joan C, Diahann Carroll, and the ultimate beauty of human history even Cleopatra: Elizabeth Taylor, will thrive in our hearts forever.

At this point, she hasn't heard of a lot of things. One thing the show got right was showing Alexis' growing pains as she learned just what running a megabillion dollar corporation like ColbyCo was really like. But don't forget - this was at the height of the Reagan years. Government regulation of business was not one of his priorities, and since he was appointing the people in the SEC, FTC, and the Justice Department, it wasn't one of their priorities, either (one holdover from the Carter Administration described the FTC as "a gaunt and bloodied agency" after eight years of neglect).

what a great interpretation!!! So true, so true and good catch...now that i think about it, i think that is why the scene of her asking for adam to pour her a glass of water is included here...had she been a man she wld have poured it for herself....she asks her lap dog adam to pour it but then never even takes a sip from it....this was done purposely to all for viewer interpretation of the action.

She doesn't, not really. This is really more to rub Blake's face in it than anything else. When the merger is completed, Denver Carrington will cease to be an independent publicly traded company, and ColbyCo's board will become its board. Usually, some of the senior management and board are folded into the acquiring company, and I'm sure Alexis is banking on most of DC's directors hoping they'll be among the chosen few. Besides which, there's many a slip between the merger agreement and the final signatures, so if Alexis fires the board and the merger still doesn't happen, she'd find herself the majority stockholder in a company with a stock price that took a huge nosedive when the entire previous board was replaced.

that little prick adam was always up to something...when al corley advised when his current contract expired he wld be leaving the role...the producers panicked and created the stupid far fetched storyline of the 1st born son kidnapped 20 some odd years earlier...poorly written character..the character crossed certain boundries that destroyed trust and wld be hard to come back from....bad enough when he set his mother up to take the fall for poisoning jeff....but when he got blake to sign over POA when blake was at his worst...that type of betrayal wld be vry haed for any parent to tolerate including the high moral noble blake carrington....even if blake eventuallky forgave him...the relationship wld be destroyed beyond repair....then at the end of season 7 they formally adopt adam(it was later revealedin s8 that he was infact their bio child)..there is no fckn way on earth i would adopt an individual that had done the things adam did..i wld have changed the phone numbers and left instructions at the main gate that he shld be shot on site if he attempted to gain entry.

dnt think even today how mny nvr realized how ground breaking dynasty was.....alexis was the CEO of a billion dollar fortune 500 company...a bit of narcassistic self absorbed whack job...but a sexually liberated women....this baordroom scene was well written, well played and well directed...she strode in that old boy boardroom...elf-assured,confident and in charge...put them all on notice...cleared her throught and asked adam for a glass of water that she nvr even sipped...and them told them old boys...she is a very direct room...and please be reminded that i have controling interest in denver carrington.....i will fire you all on the spot...and replaces your asses with a board that will approve it...

don't agree that joan collins was a one note actor....i think she brought her A game to dynasty.....the writing was campy and over the top at time.....but all soaps in the 80's were over the top frm knots landing, dallas, falcon crest....even with campy writing joan collins brought alot to the character of alexis...her acting, delivery, facial expressions were delivered well....she lacked the depth to in a league with a jessica lang but she has earned her place on the list of notable actors..
