I’m from Perth and was there. I can honestly say it was the most insane live experience of my life (even compared to Rage Against the Machine). The crowd all got involved and was incredible. Did Aussie and Perth proud 🇦🇺

Islam's control time is worth more to the judges due to his association with Khabib... Islam did have him in round 1 for sure but he got beat up bad by the end of the fight... everyone says damage is king- but ever since Khabib beat Conor the UFC only cares about wrestling... which is unfortunate since (for example) Jon Jones is mainly a stand up guy and he beat the fuck out of DC not once but twice... and DC is a fucking animal. one of the best wrestlers I am aware of. Anyway this was a great fight.

Just like Volk did, everytime Issy climbed on his back. Another keen MMA put me onto "a filthy casuals guide to kazushi sakuraba"!! If you Issy fans watch it, you might understand why Volk gave up his back each time he was on the ground. He made Issy do the work, while he maintained control over Issi's hands, all the while while taking a lil breather and the opportunity of a Kumora. Issy even admitted he greatly underestimated Volks ground skills. Kudos to both of them. I called a draw, as round 1 was not as one sided as the fangirls claimed and they both had 2 rounds each. I thut R5 was a 10-8 to Volk, He Hamburgered Issi's face and he finished almost unmarked. 👍

how are takedowns nothing? youre just giving excuses to low skilled fighters who cant properly defend against or counter the takedown attempt in the first place lol just putting your bodyweight on top of someone you took down will make them struggle to breath and burn out their muscles if theyre trying to push you off or stand up, plus theyre panicking trying to avoid being submitted

Everybody was expecting Islam to beat Volk up and made him tap and when Islam failed to do so they thought Volk won. Unbelievable. Give both fighters some respect they BOTH won. Volk proved that he can stand toe to toe with Islam till the 5th round and beat him in that round too and Islam proved to be a very technical fighter both on the feet and on the ground. Cheers to both fighters. Islam clearly won at least 3 rounds and Volk won the final round convincingly and the 3rd round. They both are legit champions but Islam won 3 rounds to 2. Volk even said he could and should have done better.

Also Islam did outstrike Alex but he didn't look comfortable on the feet, maybe he respected him too much or it was the weight cut, but he didn't try a single front kick, knees were good though.

Islam won on the feet by outstriking and also won by scoring takedown although wasn't able to do much damages with his submission attempts. Nevertheless, a takedown score is still a take score similar to a punch that didn't produce a knock out, but a landed punch is still a punch scored. Other than the last 1:30 second of the last round, we can't find any evidence that Volk dominate or score more offensive points than Islam. So, if either champ can't finish the match with submission or knock out and rely on decision by scorecard, logically, the winner is Islam. Fair and square.

Easy win for Islam. He Beat volk in striking (his own game). Volk got only last minute of ground game. Islam got bruise volk got deep cut in the eye by Islam's elbow. Islam's Ground Control was superior. Volk just put on a fight nobody could do. But that's a clear win for Islam. P4P king!

Moral- Never look down on an opponent before fight.. Because You get wobbled and look dead and get punched in the face several times hoping the match gets over soon.

@@youtubisashoe Thanks, but I don't open links due to vrul risks etc. A short explanation rather than a novel would suffice. But I get it, that we are probably on the same page with Volks technique of giving up his back to control his opponents hands and thus making the grappler expend more energy then him. Cheers 😊

@Woofers against Violence ok I understand, look up the video, it's called "a filthy casuals guide to kazushi sakuraba - the kimura" , when you asked me originally how sakuraba did it, I thought I would have to look up fights and clips to send you, but than i found this awesome video, somebody already noticed same thing I noticed and made a video about it, and it's a great one, touches on the history of the move and than shows how sakuraba used it when his back was taken

What an insane fight. Hard to score, definitely an argument for both sides winning. However the boos for Islam whenever he goes for his bread and butter grappling are just wrong. It's MIXED martial arts, grappling is a firm and important part of the sport. Watch boxing, kickboxing or muay thai if you just want standup.
