He definitely will do it. By the end of the season he will be on the mark of about 830 goals. And then just to more seasons and he will surpass him. 35 an 30 goals per season will be enough.

What fun times and memories I had watching Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals for the three or four seasons that I watched, so much excitement and action, especially when Ovechkin was on the ice and seeing him score goals and the season where they won the Stanley Cup and got by the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins and then later went on to defeat the Las Vegas Golden Knights to become the Stanley Cup champions, a experience I will ever forget so much fun.

I feel older now that I watched this and realized that I actually got to watch 2/3 of his career… I’m a Leafs fan but Ovie is a legend and I cant deny that. I’m lucky to see one of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history (if not the greatest)

Given that not only do goalies have better equipment than most of the 20th century, but your average goal is much better. The fact that Ovie is passing Howe is remarkable. It will be a sad day when Ovie retires, but I hope he can at least be with earshot of Gretsky. Ovie is the greatest hockey player ever.

Given something does not stop him it seems likely. He turned 37 in september and Jagr was still playing in NHL until he was 42 so even if Ovi suddenly slows down a bit theres still time
