They should adds 2 small scale battles in the movie, just like saving private ryan, Alexander fight so many battles, but the movie has 3 hours only show 2. you can see the hint in Trailer too, it only got 2 battles.

And the actor is irish, so you can blame him as much as you want, but he will sound like an irishman. people who see that as a problem, have a problem. I'm sure, you see that the same.

LOOOOOL that’s such a conspicuous and peculiar line.

They chose the best actors here .

I don't care what the reviews say, this was a well-done movie, the director's cut at least, as is almost always the case. Jolie stuck out like a sore thumb. I understand that she was probably chosen for her ticket sales as she was on fire back then, but it hurt the movie. The rest of the casting was great. All of his generals nailed it. Looking back you see so many faces of people who went on to be stars in the decade to come. I wish this movie had a highly produced trailer like they make these days. It deserves one.

Who knew that at the end of world his actual competitor was waiting for him....his destiny was waiting for him....porus....king porus. A king who conquered the whole world was returned back from India with empty hand by king porus.....❤️❤️❤️

Not exactly, Alexander wasn't done yet, he was just too ambitious for a man,his army mutined, that was his main strength, reason for his victories and then the army was homesick,tired from fighting porus and fearful of the coming threat that was magadh - centre of India(bharat ) so he was forced back annoyed at how CLOSE he was...... to achieving no man, not even their gods like Dionysus,Hercules had done - Conqueror and reach the end of the word

That's not why the movie was terrible. It was terrible because it was marketed as an epic war movie. The hype was built on that. Only the first 30 minutes had action in it. the last 2 hours was just a drama movie. Let's look at 2 other war movies similar to it. Gladiator and Troy. Those 2 although it had drama in it, it wasn't the main vibe throughout the movie. War and battle scenes were riddled here and there in the movies. Both were beautifully made. My main point is if you market a movie as a war movie then make sure it actually is a war movie lol

History shows us, what happens, when a macedonian army got defeated. Because of their heavy equipment, they could not retreat very well, and the romans and other victorious armies, even other macedonian armies, destroyed nearly the entire loosing army. Porus had not won.

well she was 18 or 19 yo when giving birth to Alexander and he was 20 when he became king, which means she was cca 38. Now the actors were 27 (collin farrel) and 28 (a. jolie) at the time of filming, but they played the roles so well I didn't really notice. Also the movie takes place in a span of 13 years so that would leave him at 32-33 and her at cca 52.. Now Collin would be able to play both a he was kinda in the middle, but Jolie was way too young, should have been a more mature actress. But again, she was good in the role :)

Prof Robin Lane Fox was one of the bodyguard Calvary extras for Alexander. He was also the resident Alexander history consultant on set. I think the story went he didn't want to be paid his only request he wanted a part in the film. Fairly Chad move for an Oxford professor. I've read some of his books they're really good.

The only films what shows the Persian how they really were. Great civilization! They should make a movie about the greatest Persian king of history: Cyrus II the great. I just dislike one thing about Alexander: he burned Persepolis what was a jewel… but the movie is very good then!

Angelina Jolie speaking English with an Eastern European accent is the best thing about the trailer. However, this is such a nice movie. I even used a few clips of this movie (as a fair use) in my videos to explain the history of North Macedonia in my vlogs.

Alexander was preparing to cross the Indus river and conquer the Indian subcontinent when his advance scouts reported that the Nanda Empire on the other side of the river had over 10,000 war elephants waiting for them. His men refused to go further and Alexander rested, knowing that he had conquered the entire known world, surpassing the imagination or boundary that any Greek before him had explored, going all the way back to Herodotus.

Great movie indeed and ALEXANDER, one of my favourite heroes but I don't understand why his 3rd wife PARYSATIS II, daughter of ARTAXERXES III is not highlighted .1st wife RUKSHANA aka ROXANE and 2nd wife STATEIRA II are beautifully potrayed. Plus where is HERACLES ,his 1st born child and unofficial wife BARSINE

Alexander was defeated by King Porus, forget what wrong history do not know, correct history Alexander had to leave the war and was afraid of Porus

@@kindof3964 really dear than why Emperor Alexander the great left India?? He was wounded, he had infections due to high fever ➕ his army had became impatient and rebellious. As you are Greek, I am Indian / Bharatiya too. I really respect, admire ALEXANDER for his achievements and he was equal to Emperor ASHOKA the Great but King PORUS was valiant, courageous and a martyr. He lost his brother too in the battle. His brother's spear wounded ALEXANDER and he fell from his horse.

@@kindof3964 The mass self immolation by the AGALASSOI tribe of northwest India is mentioned in Book 6 of " The Anabasis of Alexander, Adrian's 2nd Century CE military history of Alexander the Great between 336 and 323 BCE. Arrian mentions Alexander's army conquering and enslaving people of the northwest Indian subcontinent. During a war that killed many in the Macedonian and Agalossoi armies, the civilians despaired of defeat. Some 20000 men, women and children of an AGALASSOI town set fire 🔥 to the town and cast themselves into the flames 🔥. The MALLI tribe also performed a similar act, which PIERRE HERMAN LEONARD EGGETMONT calls Jauhar. ARRIAN states that they started burning their houses with themselves in it though any INDIAN captured in them was slaughtered by the Greeks. ALEXANDER cutted limbs especially arms of PERSIAN defeated soldiers, killed half elder sister husband, killed mistress BARSINE husband to name a few.

This is very good movie !.

Listened to Colin Farrell talk about this at the Hollywood Reporter actor's roundtable. Didn't realize how badly it flopped and nearly ruined his career.

and really for no reason! This movie was epic. They dont make epic movies like this and lord of the rings and Gladiator anymore.
