It's a tour with two surviving former VH members and a guitarist and drummer. The reason why there are no Van Halens in the tour is because Alex is done playing and touring because his brother is gone, and Wolfgang is busy with his own band Mammoth WVH and with a few exceptions, won't play any old VH music now. He was in VH with his father for several years when Dave was lead singer again. During those years, 2007-2015 Dave was the only non-VH in the band, the other three were all Van Halens. Now, you have the oldest Van Halen who is essentially retired, and the youngest who fronts a band that is very different from VH, more like 90's/2000's alt rock like Foo Fighters or Creed. VH the band is done for good. Sammy and Mike are the only ones keeping the VH legacy alive, and VH cover bands like Fan Halen and VH the Jump Experience.

It’s not a betrayal but carrying forward their contribution to music which is substantial. However Alex knows his relationship with his brother the best so accepting that decision is all we can do❤

It's a tribute diving deeper into the VH catalog. Sammy and Mike were a part of VH at one time. Sammy replaced Dave in 1985 and left in 1996. Dave came back in 2007 and Wolfgang replaced Mike on bass. Final VH concert was in Oct 2015, and Eddie passed Oct 6, 2020. Not all the songs on the tour are VH, some are Montrose, some are Sammy's solo ones like I Can't Drive 55.

There is a reason VanHagar sounded different than VanHalen with DLR - because Sam co-wrote those songs! He has every right to perform them. He isn't harassing anyone. The internet and media is blowing this far out of focus, and this channel is adding to the problem. They are filling in blank spaces with whatever the fuq they think will get you to click. Yes, the band reached out to Alex. That was expected. It's been 4 years so all involved believe enough respect had been shown. But Sam and Mike deserve to be able to perform again - because they are STILL ALIVE. Because Ed smoked himself to death should never mean that others involved in business with him should go out of business. LIFE goes on , as it can, and as it should. In no universe should Wolf be the only one allowed to play live and MAKE money. Sam and Mike have families and deserve to earn an income, and they deserve to have fun doing it. Yes, and Dave sung VH songs in his own band after he left VH after the 1984 tours. Like in 1986. Dave never sung Sammy songs, and Sammy didn't sing any Dave VH songs like Jump until 1988. Now, Sammy will sing a few Dave songs on his tour this year like Jump, Panama, Runnin' With the Devil, You Really Got Me for example.

He made his statement last month by selling all his drums and awards. That says that he is fully retired now, and will never play or tour again without his brother. The Brothers book that is coming out this fall is about their lives together. It will probably be the last thing that Alex ever releases. Alex last played at VH's final concert in Oct 2015.

I don't think Eddie would have wanted Alex to sell all his drums and quit playing. Eddie would have never stopped playing if it was reversed. Its who they are.

I feel badly for Jason Bonham. He seems to have carved a legacy for himself as the replacement for other drummers. He's so good, he deserves more than that.

I saw the second show of this tour. It was fantastic to see and hear the VH tunes. Joe and Jason killed it and I am happy Sammy thought enough of the fans to do this. If you can play, go play!!!

But we would have nothing but VH tribute bands if Sammy and Mike didn't decide to do this tribute tour. The real VH band had it's final concert in Oct 2015 and disbanded after Oct 6, 2020. Dave just did a few solo things after that and Wolfgang started Mammoth WVH in 2021.

Wow having Alex on this tour would be epic. Sammy sounds great. Anthony sounds amazing vocally and musically...

Yet he himself wanted to tour with Satch replacing Ed... Alex only has a loyalty to his brother when he needs money: cut to 2004 when Alex was getting divorced and forced his drug addict brother to tour to make money. Alex asked Dave, Dave saw Ed and said no, that Ed should get some help. Alex asks Sammy, Alex hates Sammy, but Alex still gets Sammy and his drug addict brother to bail him out of his money woes.

“… Eddie was my partner in crime…” sums up how the brothers treated Michael Anthony!

This tour without Alex and Edward is like the Pantera tour without Darrell and Vinny. Just not the same.

I feel bad for Alex Van Halen. I hope he finds some peace in his life. If he doesn't wan to, no one should force it. Rip Eddie Van Halen.

I don't blame Alex one bit hanging it up. He jammed with Eddie since they were kids and going on stage performing with others without Eddie must be very difficult for him to do so and none of us are in any situation to criticize. It would have been great to see him on the skins again at least 1 more time but that ship has sailed now :-(

Everyone heals in their own time, which sometimes never fully happens. My brother has been my best friend since childhood and I can only imagine the kind of grief Alex is burdened with. Reast in peace Eddie and may Mike A forgive you (being the solid man he is, I'm sure he's forgiven Eddie for stealing Mike's legacy).

Im sure Alex would perform briliantly sitting behind any drum kit you placed him behind. A legend is a legend, he would not even need his old stuff.

The drums he auctioned off were sitting in storage not even being used. They were though the original drums used in VH over the years from late 70's to 2015. And no, he will not play or tour publicly ever again because of his brother being gone.

I loved both versions of VH and saw the current tour and loved that version as well. Still impressed with Hagar’s voice. I always thought the sound of VH was as much about Alex drum playing as Eddie’s guitar. They sounded so good together and it always seemed like Alex’s drums had such a deep tone.

I wish Alex well. He won’t play without his brother and is now retired. Got to respect his decision.

The part about Alex's loss of desire to make music is understandable, if deeply saddening. The part about dishonoring Eddie's memory doesn't make sense to me. Does it honor or dishonor the memory of Mozart or Beethoven to have their brilliant music played in a concert? We're lucky to have 3/4 of all 4 lineups of Van Halen alive to honor Eddie. I'll be in the stands at the Jersey Shore to see Sammy, Mike, Joe & Jason play those songs that made me get serious about the guitar when I was a teenager. Van Halen's 2nd lineup changed my life!

Started before he joined Van Halen & at no point since the early 80's has he been close to "needing a tour" get by or cash in. VH brothers asked for their money back on the Cabo tequila investment. Which Michael & Sammy eventually sold the rights to for around $100 million. You wanna talk about milking the past for money? That's what the 3/4 reunion tour & shit album with DLR was. Complete garbage (Dave hasn't been able to sing for over 2 decades).

I mean, this is a killer lineup playing killer songs from an era they were part of. I think this will be very successful. I think the open invitation for other members to join them is genuine. Especially Alex. Seeing Alex, Mikey and Sammy together would be very heart warming. Let all this end on a happy note. I think Van Halen fans woud love it. Maybe even Dancing in the Streets. Lol.

I agree. People want to project so much negativity and cynicism on this but if you've followed Sammy or Mike at all, you know it's just their nature to want to play this music. Sammy even had his own replacement (Gary) duet with him on a live album and then interviewed him and Nuno on his AXS show. He practically plays for free on these tours as he gives his share to local charities, so it's just sad that everyone has to assume the worst. I'm seeing it in Vegas and would love nothing more than some surprise appearances there or somewhere along the way. Wolfgang seems to be in a great place with Sammy and Mike both so he's my best hope.

Beach boys tour now without any of the brothers. Surprisingly they sound terrific in every show.

At some point well before Eddie got sick the VH brothers lost their will to perform for the fans. A real shame.

Enjoy your retirement Alex. And may Eddie rest in peace.

If this is actually what Alex is saying then I understand. But keep in mind Eddie went out and played with any he could jam with.

I can’t believe he sold all his kits. I don’t . As a guitar player Eddie was a really big inspiration. But that band ment a lot to me. But do agree with Alex, he’s definitely one my of my favorite drummers.

We want to hear it from him to be legit. I can say anything too. If true he became a minister, sounds like a nice change of lifestyle to me

You would think Alex would do at least one tribute farewell concert for his brother I just don't get it life is too short to hold grudges against Sammy or Michael Anthony

Any music Alex had in him died with Eddie. The man misses his brother and won't play anything without him.

This is not even a recent picture of him on this title of video. Show us what he really looks like now, or you just want us to remember him in his 40s

No, she is the most popular singer on Earth right now with young females. But she introduced Van Halen one time before they played a song. Van Halen toured until Oct 2015. She started music around 2007 which was the year Dave came back to VH and Wolfgang replaced Mike on bass.

I think Alex selling his equipment, I think it sets up for a huge return. Then again, if Mike and Sammy can't convince him, it might be over...... VH music for ever!

A tribute to Eddie should be from other guitarists who share his style...in the end rock n roll is all business...Eric clapton did it right with his charity concerts *

The Tour is pretty well already Billed as a "Tribute" Act & Michael was Deprived of the opportunity to Farewell His Fans & this Material. I'm okay with it upon that Level. Satriani could never in a million years be viewed as an insult to Eddie & Seeing as Alex is Quite Understandababbly unable to take to the Stage without His Little Brother, Jason Bonham is a GREAT Replacement. Just so long as this is a "One Time Only" Deal. It's Sensible for a Man in His 70s to Decline a Drumstool in a Rock Band. Too many Drummers have had Serious Health Ramifications from pushing things too hard, too long. And with the Emotional Burden on top of it all, from a Health Viewpoint alone, I'm Glad that Alex has Declined. Let this be "The Final Farewell". Invite Alex, Dave & Wolfgang along for the Final Show of the Tour (maybe even Gary Cherone?) & even if none of them Play, get them out on Stage to "Wave Goodbye" to the Assembled Audience after the Encores. I Hope that for just this once, Something Revolving around this Group can actually Avoid Descending into Toxicity...

The only way Alex would have done anything is if Wolfie was involved. Even then he probably wouldn’t have.

What series of interviews, he has been MIA since Eddie`s death.

My view on this is: 1( Alex has a right to call it quits if he wants and to sell his drum kits if it means happiness not bitterness missing Eddie. 2) I believe that Alex had no close friends or confidants in or outside the music business *( except maybe his wife). I feel sorry for Alex in that way.

And Alex never played outside of VH. Eddie did, like when he did the guitar solo for MJ's Beat It in early 1983.

It's over Alex was right to give it all up their is no VH without Eddie Roth hasn't the vocals anymore and not sure about Sammy whom respect but wasn't into his style,sadly it is done and over.
