WTF!? This might the best commentary I've ever seen on fighting! Chael's talent with words is amazing!

Chael’s story reminds me of one of mine from a wrestling tournament back in school. I defeated my opponent after a hard well fought match. That match I hit multiple petersons. I moved up to the semifinals. I knew if I win this next match up I’ll be in the finals. I lost and the best I could try to achieve was third place. My following match was with the same kid I got done beating earlier. Mentally I had lost motivation as I really wanted to head to the finals. Also I knew what kind of match I was facing even though I’d just beat the guy. With all of that in mind, I lost, was out of the tournament and headed home. I gave up mentally after losing the desire to continue in the tournament because I lost my chance to be a possible tournament champion.

Wow, this was the best Sonnen video I've ever watched. He skillfully blended wisdom + psychology + fight analysis. It might be difficult to understand his ideas if you are not a good listener, but you will them really rewarding if you are.

I got a story. I wrestled up a weight class. Couldn't wrestle. Beat trained wrestlers. One night when they were dehydrated i beat two guys but broke my rib to get out of a move. I didn't tell anyone and got pinned by my friend and the tournament winner. I found out i cared more about being a man with autism more than never getting pinned.

Damn, what an honest moment. Thanks for sharing

That's how Izzy feels about Alex. He said himself that after their last fight...he doesn't want to fight him again. He fought the guy several times, almost beat him in each outing until he actually put him away. And he didn't want to have to experience that anymore. He said let the 205ers deal with him.

It is really sad that fighters are now using magic to win fights. If not for Jiri pointing this out we wouldn't have known. Poatan must make this a fair fight and stop with the pre fight rituals which completely freezes his opponents during combat.

Idk I’ve always heard chael say that both guys already know… most of the time. But I think this is a rare case where both guys truly expect to win.

We can say they already know... and they might have a really good idea... but both of these guys are good enough that they can fight against literally anyone in the world and have a shot at it. Also, no way Leon Edwards knew he was going to beat what's his name. He hoped he would. He kept trying. Absent the late foot-head connection with his opponent he loses that fight. Most certainly his opponent had convinced himself he was winning. He wouldn't have been defending his title for like the 8th time if he didn't believe it.

I love listening to Chael, he is yappin about nothing but i like it :D

Jiri's weakness is that he is trying to emulate and channel strength from a culture that he is not connected to. He isn't Japanese, he's cosplaying or whatever the kids call it these days. We used to call it posing. I would normally root for the White guy, but I find it hard to respect cultural posers, so I give my respect to Pereira, who is at least being true to his own racial roots.

When they asked Jiri about the fight he instantly said yes before they even made him any offer. Im not Sure Chael i think they both tell the truth.. They both trully believe they are better. Im betting in Jiri i have a weird feeling from watching that guy. He is oozing with confidence more than ever before for some reason.

Do you want an accent tip from a Brazilian? The R in Pe(r)eira only sounds like an H if it is in the START of a word. Pe(r)erira doesn't sound like PeHeira. Think like Hamilton (Ramilton, sounds like H) or Oliveira (definitely does NOT sound like H).... Only exception is if it has like double R... like carro (car), it definitely sounds like H because it has double RRs

I agree most of the time fighters know who will win, meaning the guy who doubts his abilities probably knows he will lose, but this is a case where both fighters have doubt. I think Jiri has less confidence than Alex. Alex just has to play Shelob and let Frodo come to him. It's that simple.
