@@yammmit I agree it's so weird that he cab make up lies on the spot, but didn't even bother to lie about something like that. I think it shows his narcissist behavior. even when he said something about the dogs not alerting to someone else being there. he could have said "the dogs were doing lots of barking, at the time I didn't think anything of it, but in hindsight maybe that's why they barked". He could have stayed longer at his moms if he wanted to use that as an alibi. He could have said "when I was leaving for my mom's I passed some cars"... this guy did a terrible job of trying to make it look like anyone other than him!! Clearly shows he was panicked. I don't think he planned this in advance. I think he was confronted that day by his business people and realized he had to kill Maggie. once she found out about him stealing, she would surely want a divorce. Paul had to be there to use the boat accident as an excuse for the murders. It was the perfect storm for him

@@mwoods4608 It's said that his father told him the day prior to the murders that if AM didn't take care of Paul, he would. IDNK what he would have meant by that, but Paul and an indictment would tarnish their name in a way they couldn't recover from. He called both of them to come to Mozelle that night. Maggie wanted to meet him at the facilities, but he wanted her to come to the property. He also said he knew for a fact that whoever did this had planned it for a long time and had hate in their heart. I also have heard they recently had found a stash of pills of his too. also Maggie was living separate from him at the beach house. He wanted to sell the beach house which was in Maggie's name. The Mozelle property was also in her name. He becomes the beneficiary with her death.

@@yammmit Once you lie you have to remember the lie to tell it again. Maybe he feared if he told the lie, he wouldn't remember it. It would have been good to have rehearsed that ahead of time though. Then the other telling thing, he said there was no one else out there. He also said that the dogs didn't bark, and dogs alert to strangers, so he sunk himself.

Yeah, he's arrogant, but the 'system' is not 'designed' to protect him, which is why he went down. The 'system' is actually a highly sophisticated machine 'designed' to dispense justice. Yes, it doesn't always work, and yes, people on the inside can use their knowledge to try to evade accountability, but modern law is a pretty admirable thing, and this case it delivered justice.

I agree with Jason here and I don’t believe that the legal system could be “set up “ for anyone in particular. It is not perfect but nothing is but it is the absolute best justice system this world has ever known. It is a system that has no equal anywhere in the world. If the legal system could be compromised by this individual then he would be a free man today because this is a man who had a hundred Lawyers who came out to the crime scene that night. He and his family were definitely in a position of power in the legal system and I believe that AM felt like he could sit there and look at the Jurors and lie his way out of this just as he had been doing for years and because of his last name he thought he was above the law. When you can put blue lights in your personal car and you have a Badge hanging from the mirror , you are as close as possible to being above the law. When you can get your son out of trouble by showing up at the hospital with his Badge and folks are opening doors to get you in , and you can go to all the rooms and tell tell those kids to remain quiet and You will “take care of the situation “ . The thing that I have yet to figure out is how the hell you can do that to your Son and then your Wife and then with a somewhat straight face lie to the jury , the Judge , the DA , Your Entire Family along with your only living Son and you can lie to Yourself and Believe It , you are going to face judgement and the way that system works put his Azz in Prison for the remainder of his Life. The system works

For nearly the entire trial, Alex Murdaugh could turn on the emoting, sniveling, snorting, head-bobbing act at will. And he did, as witness after witness testified and reams of evidence were presented. Then, BAM, that all changed on Tuesday, February 28, the minute the State began closing. Throughout that entire summation, he sat motionless, with hard, sinister eyes fixed directly on the prosecutors. Creighton Waters mentioned at sentencing how Alex stared him down throughout the trial. Jeannie Seckinger testified that she’d been on the receiving end of that same menacing glare. Mark Tinsley got the same treatment, and probably knew that look all too well. Alex Murdaugh knew how to manipulate people; when he didn’t get the desired results, he knew how to use his towering physical presence to menace and threaten them. I bet he kept an ever-growing list of enemies. More than once, a chilling thought crossed my mind - if the noose hadn’t gotten a nearly complete stranglehold on him and if he was still walking around a free man (facing charges or not), the body count would eventually become significantly higher.

He may have intended to make it look like a homicide/suicide, but when his second shot blew the back of his son's head off, he couldn't make it look like that. There may have been a struggle with Maggie.

First time was 3 days after the murders while in the car with detective and his attorney in which he broke down crying while stating he did Paul so bad (watch video). The second is in this video on the stand stating his drug addiction and paranoia caused him to lie to authorities and would never "intentionally" hurt Mags and Paw Paw.. a paranoid drug addict will do things a healthy person would not do. Alex power played his words all through this case and you only have to listen to him to see the confessions spilling out.

I DID SOME READING ABOUT KIDS LIKE THIS AFTER I REPORTED ALL TO CPS. ALL THEY DID WAS TEXT THE DAD THAT HIS KIDS (( MAY BE AT RISK FOR MOLESTATION) I COULDN'T PROVE ANYTHING. JUST HER WORD. DAD TOOK BLADE AWAY. A FEW DAYS AGO SHE SHOWS UP AGAIN. SHE WENT TO SIT IN MY RECLINER AND TRIPPED AND FELL IN TO IT TOPPLING THE CHAIR BACKWARDS TO THE FLOOR I HEARD SOMETHING METAL FALL OUT OF CHAIR. WE PUT THE CHAIR BACK UP AND OMG😱😱😱 ANOTHER BLADE!! IT FELL OUT OF HER POCKET. SHE DENIED IT BUT I AM ONLY PERSON WHO SITS THERE. IT LOOKED JUST LIKE THE OTHER ONE. HER LITTLE FRIEND LATER TOLD ME HER BRO IS RARELY HOME AND HAS A STASH OF BLADES. THEN, I LEARN SHE'S CUTTING HERSELF WITH THEM AND EXPERIMENTING WITH ANOREXIA ( VOMITING AFTER MEALS THINKING SHE'LL LOSE WT.) NOT FAT. BODY DYSMORPHIA ,THANKS TO TIK TOK. It takes time to pick up his phone, unlock the screen, get it to 'phone' and dial 911. That has too take at least 5 seconds. Getting in and out of the car - it is more like 10 seconds. The jury has heard him change his story to fit 'the time line' so many times ~ if it wasn't for jim griffin feeding him answers I don't think he could keep track either

Just wondering if anyone else rewatched this testimony AFTER watching the Netflix documentary/the interviews and seeing how continued to lie on the stand? Alex Mardaugh kept saying that Maggie wanted to go out to the kennels... HOWEVER Paul's girlfriend said that Maggie didn't like being out there after dark or alone. She would double check the locks/windows of the house at night because (as Housekeeper and another person stated) it would be pitch black dark out there at night 👀

I have watched all his statements. When he lies a lot he shakes his head no when meaning yes. Forward is confirmation . If he does a hard forward shake to the left he is lieing.

I can tell he’s guilty an innocent man will not continue on about irrelevant details saying “that was usual for us to do” or “I believe” blah blah blah he talks so much detail about irrelevant things but you are on trial for the murder of your wife and son ?? If it was me on the stand I would be losing it crying hysterically saying find the real killer ! Also there was no point for him to be at the kennels just to take a chicken out the dogs mouth? Then you had to call your moms house phone im sorry you’re just trying to solidify your alibi by having time stamp and concrete proof his moms house is small i doubt they didn’t hear him knocking also if he was so tired why go see your mom out of nowhere after you dozed off seems weird he gives too much irrelevant details not buying it also he really tried to paint a vivid picture of his addiction do we have evidence of his addiction sometimes people lie about having an addiction to get sympathy and reason for excuses he sounds like Bullshit

Scary. Then you have 99% of the next potential jury pool here in comments saying "he nodded yes but said no" when he also nodded yes when he said yes. To heck with "Don't commit crime" rather Don't ever get accused lest you face a jury full of TV-watching moronic Americans.
