Alex Megos Climbs "Lucid Dreaming" (8C/V15) In Bishop
Спорт
It was his hardest and his longest project to date: it took Alex Megos 11 days to ascend Lucid Dreaming (8C/V15) on the Grandpa Peabody boulder at Buttermilks in California.

He had tried the problem in November 2014, but had to get back home to Germany after three unsuccessful days. First thing he did on his return? Book a new flight ticket to the US to finish his project. Filmmaker Ken Etzel captured Alex’ intense days of fighting sharp granite and drying his way up with his shirt.

For everyone curious how he got down. There’s 2 options for this boulder, you can either down climb the back side which is relatively easy I believe, or some have a rope tied onto the bolts at the top, and they get down with that. I don’t see a rope in this video so I assumed he downclimbed on the backside 👍
Alex just seems to be such a nice guy...so psyched for him - his progress has been insane and I'm sure we'll be hearing much more from him. Alex, du bist einfach super!

It took 20 minutes to climb, and 11 days to figure out how to get back down.

Far easier to climb when youre younger as you are more flexible, lighter and have probably exercised your body in a way that is good for climbing. As someone who started in my 20s i had already lost much of my flexibility and have lots of extra muscle that is not necessarily helpful for rock climbing

Yeah one of my buddies climbed V11 with 14. He never trained to become a pro, though, as climbing was only fun for him. The earlier you start, the better of course. I started way later and it took me 1,5 years of three times climbing a week to get to V6 (though I just climbed and did no additional exercise). V6 is quite hard. Most climbers never get to that level.
Thanks for a climbing video, but I want more!!!!!
I know nothing about climbing. These people are impressive.
Very inspirational, looking forward to climbing my first V10 at the gym.

I was just in Bishop and my guidebook did not have Lucid Dreaming listed. I was looking at Evilution which is seriously 10ft to the right of this problem and missed it. I wanted to check out this line so bad. Oh well until the next trip.

Amazing accomplishment. Too bad the video failed to portray the difficulty of the climb. A bunch of medium and wide shots don't work for climbing videos unless you're watching on a 70" 4K tv.
