Rotpunkt: Bibliographie | Alex Megos climbs his hardest project yet | Patagonia
Спорт
Alex Megos never met a route he couldn’t climb in short order…that was until he encountered Bibliographie, an undone sport line at the French super-crag, Céüse. In 2017, Megos first tried the route that would become his three-year project. On the path to the send he encountered doubts and injuries and qualified for the Olympics. It wasn’t until COVID turned the world upside down that he was able to return to Céüse and close the books on one of the hardest routes ever climbed.

I love how Adam Ondra said he name his 9C Silence cause when he clipped it there was nothing but Silence (not the exact quote, but yea.) And here, we see Megos clip, a soft "take" , then 5 secons of this "Silence" moment and then BOOM all the emotions..it's just a nice parallel.. Very well done video, and of course, the ascent itself is mindblowing, huge congrats!!!

i believe ondra said he just got a sense of inner quiet whenever he climbed it, and he didn't (couldn't) scream as he usually does when he completes a project. and thats why he called it silence.

@byZwoosh

I mean you can't really tell if Silence or this route is the harder one as they are fundamentally different...I think pocket climbing fits Alex's style, meanwhile the awkward kneebars and the crux on Silence fits Ondra's. Once (or if) the grade is confirmed by someone else, only then we can start to have a conversation like this. Nevertheless, amazing achievement by Megos, truly one of the best climbers out there today.
@stephenr80

@@byZwoosh i am the same opinion, ondra failed climbing a crimpy 9b+ Megos did in Canada, Alex is very good at that stuff so it could be a megacrimpy 9c but nobody knows until others climb
@gallanonim6535
3 жыл бұрын
@@stephenr80 The only 9b+ Alex sent is Perfecto Mundo in Margalef(Spain). Can you please tell me what route are you talking about? AFAIK he tried to send Fight Club (9b) in a day and failed. His main goal was to try flashing a 9a+. He chose to try the open project which later became Disbelief (9b on micro holds). How is it that 'fans' often misrepresent the facts just to boost their 'idols' name?
@Jokseej
3 жыл бұрын
Silence will most likely come out as the harder route, just due to how unique the climbing style is (and how few people actually manage to climb that style). But we'll never know for sure until Alex tries Silence and Adam tries Bibliographie (if they ever do), or some 3rd party does them both.
Great achievement!!! Thats so motivating and inspiring! :)
that video made me shed a tear, i am going through something similar, and my mind is in pieces, i'm asking myself if i'll ever make it, i hope i'll make it someday. it's the first time in my life that i watched a 18 mins ad and cried at the end of it. i'll put that one invmy favorites, when someday i might feel miserable, when I feel like i'm over-estimating my strength to achieve my goals, i'll comeback and watch it. thanks for the emotion, passion, and feels you guys made me feel through that documentary, dedication and constance is the answer, even if i feel like the whole world is giving me the finger with its chaos theory, i need to stay dedicated

That was so interesting and inspiring!!!
This is incredible. Good luck from Czech (Adams:-) republic. Alex is so big man, very hard working. No one, except the top climber, can imagine such hard physical and mental work and renunciation. Climbing is the most difficult sport in the world. Howhg. And we are witnessing the revolutionary culmination of the history of this sport. Of the many great and elite climbers I think of: Albert, Gulich, Gill, Huber, Yaniro, Hill, Šmíd, Le Menestrel, Smith, Patissier, Destivelle, Godoffe, Edlinger, Andrada, Arnold, Honnold, Charma, Patxi, Medox and Ondra. The last stars stand on the shoulders of many famous and nameless people who have contributed, each with their work to share what we call today's sport climbing.
