I didn't realize these two series were about Alex Haley's family. Knowing this makes them all that more important and special. I'm so glad he took the time to research and write these stories for us. They are, in themselves, a tribute to him as well as his family. Thank you for putting this up for us to share. 🎉❤🎉

Roots and Queen are both great series, but ya'll do know that Alex Haley was sued for plagiarizing Roots, so I'd have to assume that Queen is also fictitious. Both are beautiful, and if Roots is indeed plagiarized Alex Haley made it a great success. The original author couldn't have made them the classic series that Alex Haley did.

I didn't realize Mr. Haley was white. He is a descendent of 2 white great grandfathers.
This movie holds a special place in my heart. I was deeply moved by the Queen's resilience, innocence, vulnerability, and ability to love again after enduring so much pain. This movie ranks in my all-time top twenty .
Thank you for uploading I haven't seen this in 30 years. Another 💎 of Alex Haley.

Wrong page, sorry
My mom’s side is mixed with American Indian. When the grandma was talking about being from Africa- and her mom cut in to say she wasn’t. And that her people were from Turtle Island- here. My heart smiled. A lot of “Black ppl” in America aren’t of African decent at all. They are the Original people from here. The “Victor” writes History. Remember that, and their renditions never make sense. And when you really how History, and not what they’ve indoctrinated you with, it’s laughable. ❤

Parson Dick talked about Jungle Drums and that was used for Kunta Kinte aka Toby played by John Amos to escape but he chose not to. He stayed on William Reynolds's Plantation and saw his Daughter Kizzy sold off at 16. What Cap'n Jack is doing by today's standards is Emotional Banking, you did me dirty and I will use it over you for the rest of your life.
This series is very dear to my heart.
This was so well done. Now I will have to reread Roots again. Many Good plantation owners & many, evil ones too. No one should've been owned but it still today, you don't hear about it but I assure you it is in some countries. I was born in North but lived under South most of my life. I've seen what no one should see. I'm proud of my age, living in USA. I'm proud of being free, proud of being white & I'm very proud of being very human. We All Bleed

Look into it more deeply, read the literature on this era, if you’re an American you have way more access to it. Consider that each plantation was governed by the personality and beliefs of each family so it makes sense that there were very different experiences. As with everything, some were better than others. I believe the love between the young couple is very real and if only the young lad had been strong enough to say to his father that he loved Easter, things might have been different for them. History is nuanced because it is made up of human experience. Go deeper than the shallow surface of things.

I adored Alex. I read ROOTS in a Readers Digest magazine. I so wanted it to be a movie. The nights on tv, I worked in a convalescent home. One eldery lady was born a slave. I so hoped to learn from her. She was bedridden and had no family visits . We all loved her. I cleaned her body more than most. I never left anyone in wet nor feces or for the next shift. She loved lotion. She was black as black can be.

That is awesome that you even have pictures let alone know that far back In your family history. Many African Americans like myself don’t unfortunately. I only know as far back as my great grandparents unfortunately 😔
I do not wish to erase history. But, I feel so stirred by the use of racial pronouns. Ashamed of the ignorance of mankind. But, ultimately it has evolved on a grand facetious scale of oblivious mental despair paraded as freedom in our current point of time. Realizing history especially such great resillent people and their ancestors experiences of perpetually engrossing stolen lifetimes for generations. Yet demonstrating unwavering pose of grace intelligence spiritual fortitude inspires me to my core. Truth acknowledgement should never be witheld . Nor dressed up to not reveal prepetual gruesone facts of this time in history. The failure of cerebral connection of the supposed superior side speaks for itself.
I often wonder was it forced or love? Recently found out who my second great grandfather was on my mother side and my great grandfather's amazing life of land ownership and wealth how did a black man do it in the home of the klan, but he did!
