I certainly agree that we are on the wrong side of history in Ukraine and we have been for a decade. We need real honest investigations and those responsible for the illegal actions must be prosecuted. If we are a nation of laws based on our constitution, those laws must be imposed on everyone equally, truthfully, and openly.

I think the US, unlike other nations, does not have a real uniform cultural identity. It is instead an amalgam of cultures from different immigrants background, with some more influential ( stronger) than others. With that in mind you will understand that the US policy against Russia was aggressively promoted by an Polish American who was counselor to Carter. and whose name is the one and only Brzezinski. For that reason one can argue that the US decades of fight with Russia is a Polish affair ( to not say a revenge ).

Alex, I was surprised to hear that Russia also helped Greece in the liberation process. We in Bulgaria have exactly the same reasons to be closely and eternally connected to Russia- they were instrumental in helping us fight the Ottoman empire. We introduced to Russia both Orthodox Christianity and the Old church slavonic script, i.e. old Bulgarian to spread the Gospel. Our languages are close. Religion, language, script- 3 of the most important markers of identity we have in common. And like Greece our political idiots, NOT elites are vehemently anti Russian because of the EU funds, while the majority of the people are pro Russian... Please, mention Bulgaria any time you speak of Greece and Russia.

The captain of a sailing vessel I was on even talked to me in Greek, stating that he used to be a foreign worker in the port of Piraeus for many years. Ironically when Istanbul was banned from cruise ship schedules for a few years because of the terror act, it was a Greek, actually Cypriot line that was the only one making regular calls in the city.

Orthodox is that which maintains original doctrine. In the case of Christianity THAT means holding fast to the Apostle's Creed, about which the Athanasian Creed is the highest form insofar as it manifests more clearly those things to be held in and by the Supernatural Faith of Jesus Christ.

Hi Ania, Thanks for bringing Alex on board. It was a very interesting conversation. You asking intelligent question and Alex giving thought provoking answers. I thank Alex on his insights on the Orthodox faith, which I found very deep. Especially the aspect of patience. Transformation (μεταμόρφωση) is the aim of the Gospel of Christ (Χριστός), the human becoming divine. For this the whole of creation waits. As Apostle Paul says: ἡ γὰρ ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως τὴν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκδέχεται. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed οἴδαμεν γὰρ ὅτι πᾶσα ἡ κτίσις συστενάζει καὶ συνωδίνει ἄχρι τοῦ νῦν· We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. This certainly requires patience.

Thank you for this fascinating interview! Russia also owes very much to Greece too, surprise, surprise! Starting with their conversion to Christianity and the creation of the Cyrillic alphabet (based on the Greek alphabet with new letters added for Slavic sounds) by the Greek monks Sts. Cyril [RU: Kiril] and Methodius in their mission to the newly arrived Slavs. Thus the first book the Russians had in their own language was the New Testament, translated by Greek monks from the Greek original and their first formal education was in Greek theology, philosophy, mathematics, science and medicine in monasteries created and endowed by the Greeks. At first Constantinople and 'Byzantium' - the Greek world - was the great power and protector / benefactor; after the fall of Byzantium [Eastern Roman empire] and with the consolidation of the Russian state, the role was gradually reversed and will stay that way: only superpower Russia can protect the Orthodox countries, all of which are under negative pressure (and old consuming hatred) by the 'West", though this is presently downplayed / disguised for Orthodox countries trapped inside EU/NATO. Both Greece and Russia rejected the 'Enlightenment' at the deepest philosophic and religious level, which 'West' uses to explain - to their eyes - the Orthodox civilisation's purported "backwardness" (For more on Western Europe's hatred of Orthodoxy, check out the 2nd Crusade which made the fall of the eastern Roman Empire inevitable and unleashed the muslim entry into Europe, which took over 700 years to finally defeat; 2) Britain's wars against Russia - Crimea, the Russo-Japanese war, and the Anglo-American sponsored and arranged 'Russian Revolution' featuring the same "woke" Enlightenment bolsheviks we see today in USA and northwest Europe 3) Washington's overnight transformation of 'ally' russia into 'enemy' Russia following WW2, Churchill's "iron curtain". In Greece's case its whole modern history! Our 1822 Independence was won against British policy; the murder of its first governor Capodistrias [formerly foreign minister to the Tsar, saviour of France at the Congress of Vienna and writer of the Swiss Constitution with Greece in mind] and imposed substitution of a German monarch, nephew of Queen Victoria (in the country that invented the republic and democracy); Smyrna 1922; the first act of the cold war ie the Syrian-style "civil war" imposed on Greece by UK / USA from 1944-49 where the UK tested its first military jets and the US tested napalm....greece suffered 9 years of continuous war from 1940-1949 and final destruction of its infrastructure. Followed by US sponsored Military junta 1967-1974; entrapment into the EU; and the "Greek crisis' which impoverishes Greece more every year that passes via the world's largest (fake) debt - a debt supposedly generated by 10 million underpaid Greek citizens and equivalent to Sanctions:-)) The Black Sea was dominated by Greece from ancient times....later it was Greek merchants and shipowners who developed the ports of the Black Sea (on the remains of the ancient Greek ports) FOR Russia as can be seen in their very names - Sebastopol, Mariupol, Yalta, Kherson etc etc, not to mention Odessa which Catherine the Great named after Odysseus. And whose merchant ships brought Russian commodities and goods to Europe and Africa. As to the present, the Russians had early adopted the Greek 'citizen / soldier' construct for their armed forces. The 2 largest conscript armed forces in the world are Russia [ pop.143 million] with yearly 400k newly trained conscripts and Greece [pop.10 million] with yearly 122k newly trained conscripts- Proportionately Greece, not Russia, is no.1. Incidentally Greece and Russia were the 2 countries that lost the highest % of people (both military and civilian) in WW2 which says much about their martial code and martial spirit and will - ie 'to the last man' / 'on a shield or before the shield' H Tan H Epi Tas - NOT to the last proxy and cowardly terrorism as with the 'West". As a Greek it was hard to hear Greece contemptuously dismissed because of its American-puppet leaders (the same as in the rest of the EU minus Hungary). And inaccurate to hear Greek shipowners described as "Oligarchs" : while a few are obnoxious this is an inaccurate take and a misunderstanding: Greece has the world's no.1 merchant marine, incidentally owning 92% of the world's tankers, and as a marine nation from its most distant inception have always comprised Greece's main economic strength along with today (in today's stripped Greece) tourism. Greek shipowners are the equivalent of Russia's oil and gas / commodities (ie innate and historic wealth) and no Greek government or puppetised WEF Greek PM can afford to ignore them, and thank God for that since they are deeply patriotic and have endlessly endowed Greece from their profits and provide serious employment. If indeed Greek shipowners were real oligarchs - billionaires determining politics - we would not have the succession of governments we have endured for decades. The other factor no Greek government can afford to ignore is the Greek armed forces, who beyond its officer class comprises 90% of the male population in reserve - even elderly are prepped to play their part on the frontiers and islands - and are the Greek's most trusted institution. Greek firefighters, police and coast guard are also part of the military.

At the end of WW2, the British (who had been fighting as allies with Greek partizans against the German invaders) and the US turned on the Greeks who had been their allies all through the war, installed a F*scist government and helped them to lock up many of their opponents in concentration camps. One of the blackest episodes in Britain's history, in my opinion. some Greeks managed to get political asylum in Russia. How much influence does that have on current opinion? Alex is soooo right about the spiritual connection between Greeks and Russians based on common religion and temperament. I have discussed that with my Greek friend as well and we both said absolutely exactly the same! I would say, Russians and Greeks are on the same wavelength, despite being from different parts of the continent - South and North. Thats how I would describe it.

GREETINGS Ania, from far West Texas. EXCELLENT discussion with Alex, particularly the "stroll through the night club district of Ayia Napa.". Somehow that was simultaneously hilarious, maddening and saddening. Lol! Hopefully enough of us will be able to see the "Black & White" of our present situation and put a halt to the designs of the "Pirates" before they achieve their intended ways. PEACE and be well!

It was an absolute pleasure to listen to both Alex answering succinctly Ania's questions. Alex has a lovely air of calmness, peaceloving, compassionate gentleman expressed in an Orthodox Christian way. Likewise I put my RC faith down to my anti war stance but sadly there's not a huge number in the RC church who share our views. Thank you Ania it was a tonic listening to you both. 🇮🇪✌🏼

LNG is quadruple the price of "pumped through a pipe" gas. If requires energy to pump and chill to LIQUID, then transport costs, then facilities to restore from liquid back into gas. USA gas in Europe will never be cheap

You should know something about US politicians. They all love war. If there is ANYTHING that unites the 2 sides, it's a desire to be involved in more and more wars. To think that the GOP would change anything is living in a fool's paradise. Doesn't matter what they say during their campaigns. Alex is right about this.

Great episode. Alex has a unique quality of making you feel (while watching his videos) as though you are just chatting with an old friend on zoom 😉 One thing about Orthodoxy that I wanted to add: Orthodox Christians tend to be more patient, but also, or even more so - quite understanding of others. That applies to both your own and others vices and shortcomings. It's closely linked to a viewpoint of seeing everyone as God's child, created the way they are for a purpose.

AMERICAN LIQUIFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) The reason this comment is titled 'American LNG', is because Canada will be directly involved in the US government's plan, to provide EU countries with LNG. You see, the Trudeau regime is trying to shutter the oil & gas industry, here in Canada. Now we still need the revenue that producing and providing theses 'fossil fuels' brings to our economy. So instead of providing it directly to the EU countries ourselves, Trudeau will provide our gas to the United States, at a fixed reduced rate, which the US will mark-up and sell to the EU. This way, Trudeau can maintain his 'poster-boy' status with the UN & WEF, contributing to the global community, rather than competing with them, while simultaneously reducing Canadians use of gas, because the extra demand will raise gas prices even higher, thereby forcing Canadians to use less. Just remember, none of this could happen if the Nordstream pipelines were still functional.
