Alesia's Lymphoma Story: I Thought My Symptoms Were STRESS! | The Patient Story
Ойын-сауық
Alesia was a kindergarten teacher when she started to feel fatigue, shortness of breath, and throat swelling. After undergoing tests, she was told there was a 10cm tumor in her chest and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (diffuse large B-cell).
In this cancer vlog, she talks about undergoing chemotherapy and rituximab and the side effects that came with it, how losing her was very traumatic since it was part of her identity and how after finishing treatment she reached remission. Alesia also opens up about the importance of allowing yourself to grieve and process emotions during cancer treatment.

AWW! Those scans are scary to know it's time for another one. My best friend had the non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma as well...Her's started in her neck. We went thru the stress of scans together, and yes it's scary. She has been 25 years now in remission. Enjoy every Day and Month and Year or trips and vacations and fun times-- next thing you know, it's 25 years out! Don't miss out on any fun activities esp. from fear or worry. Live Laugh Love!!! XOXOXOXO

Thank you for sharing your experience, it was definitely worth listening to. Praying for all of us that the Holy Spirit will continue to bless us with endurance and longevity
Hi Alicia. Resonated with me as I remembered how hard it was to lose my hair. I told everyone that I loved it, but in all reality it was hard. The funny part about it though is that once I got used to it I loved it! You are a beautiful young woman just as you are. It’s amazing the things re learn about ourselves huh? We are strong and having support makes us even stronger. My whole point to this is that I,too suffered from scanxiety. I still do. I kept waiting for the “other shoe to drop”. Know what I mean? That part gradually ended as I became busier and time passed. I send you my best regards and positive energy so that you, too will come to a certain comfort with this “speed bump” in your life and move past to fulfill all of your dreams and aspirations. I’m 68 and still remember Mrs Ruiz in first grade! Keep being wonderful so that you can make a difference in children!❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing your story! My family is just beginning this journey. Your story helps so much. I think you're beautiful, long hair or not. ❤❤❤
Good luck for you ❤
GOD BLESS YOUR STRENGTH & COURAGE ❣️ MAY GOD HEAL U IN EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR JOURNEY ❣️
She is so sweet it brought tears to my eyes. I hope you never have to go through that again.❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you for that. Stay well. You are right it is not always to think of positives. I related to everything you went through. I was diagnosed with NHL WADENSTRUM CAN GO INTO REMISSION BUT NOT CURABLE. I too knew something was wrong I did not feel particularly sick but not well either. My symptoms anemia loss of weight which I attributed to stress. Unfortunately under going my first MRI they also discovered a small cancer in my right breast which was treated before the NHL with radiotherapy. THEN came the chemotherapy. Any way one has to play the cards given. My doctors were great except for my family MD. Friends and family very supportive. I too had suffered from anxiety panic attacks before being diagnosed with cancer but surprisingly I had none during the the four years of cancer treatment. STAY WELL and live each day at a time and thanks for your work you do as a teacher.
Go right away when u feel like something wrong!!!
Thankfully you sought out medical intervention when you did. God bless
You’re so beautiful ❤️ I pray that God covers you and gives you the strength to keep on going
I 100% respect your feelings regarding your hair (after all, it is YOUR hair), but I just had to comment, in the small chance you’d see it. Not everybody can pull off short hairstyles or even totally bald, but GIRL! You seriously rocked it! All your fun glasses, along with your gorgeous eyes and smile?! Beautiful! Sometimes it’s hard to see ourselves shining, so thought I’d letcha know 🫶 I also had a question, if anybody knows. I’m just curious about the scans afterward. I can only imagine how scared an anxious one might be, waiting 6 whole months for a scan. Is it possible to ask for one in, for example, 3 months? If not, is it because insurance won’t cover it? I’m genuinely just curious. My own mind can be a dark place sometimes, and I don’t know that I could wait that long, for my sanity
You are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!!
You are beautiful with short hair ❤❤and I love your giggle 🤭 that is something you can never lose❤
God is with you ✝️

medical gaslighting is so real
You are considered young. So sorry but all of these young people which have been diagnosed with terrible diseases.need to start telling people how many Covid vaccines did they get? This will help other people and get to the truth. Too many young people getting very sick. I pray for your recovery.
Loved the fact that she said it’s okay to grieve (for who we were with our hair), to welcome it and let it take as long as it needs to. Then how she mentions to never stop asking questions and know your place as a patient that you’re allowed to want answers and ask your Dr and care team about it all. AND I LOVED HOW SHE SPEAKS ABOUT BECOMING SOMEONE ENTIRELY NEW BUT STILL LOVING THIS NEW VERSION OF YOURSELF REGARDLESS 😭 ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
