I bought the angle grinder which takes 230mm blade from lidl and the brushless 12v drill which came with two batteries and screw drill bits. Using the large angle after using the small angle grinder, I realised you need to be extra careful. But I like the 40v drill you have there it's the torque which is important.

How different Ian is to me in the way he handles his tools. He just places these new tools on a heap of other equipment. I carefully place mind down on clear working surfaces - wherever that may be, say on a floor protection mat near a vehicle or working in a room, or on a bench is a workshop. I obviously need therapy! These Aldi tools seem to perform well and are a bargain price. Durability and reliability will only show after extended use. Battery packs (especially if you have three or four) tend to keep a user loyal to one brand, as they and the chargers are expensive.

Good point, this is my second tool review, like the other, seems I’m more focused on it’s function than overall design, like I l totally missed it had a light built in. I don’t travel and where I use my tools I want them there ready and for use, so I rarely use the case. But it’s comments like yours that point me to other aspects that should I ever review another tool, I need to look at. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Ian, you are a tight Yorkie, if they were £5 you would probably still find a problem with them. I have several of the Forrex drills, drill drivers, impact drivers, battery grinder, and for the money they are the best value, all taking the same 20/40v battery. The only exception I have found is the Forrex long grass trimmer which uses the 20/40v battery and it's rubbish, it stalls as soon as it meets a piece of thick grass, and it should be mains 240 v powered.
