Excellent way to spin a bearing, fire up a cold engine, and go to whopping the throttle like that...This is why we can't have nice things.

24 likes on your statement. Let's assume the build is done correct. I used to race. I also was part of a team. We had a good crew chief, he also built the motors. Very knowledgeable guy. We would run 15/1 C-16 fuel type motors. Callie's dragon Slayer, AFR, scorpion....good stuff. Crew chief: "The last thing I'm worried about, is that motor blowing up. It's bullet proof". A fresh build, one test on the Dyno, these engines are ready to go. Set the Rev limiter a couple hundred rpm short of the upper end starting to get unhappy and run that motor as hard as you want. There is no break in. The cylinder walls will warp oval before you spin a bearing. LONG before you ever spin a bearing. In fact, you will break something like a rod or something before spinning a bearing. And if something does break, even the crank shaft, it's almost ALWAYS because of something else. This isn't eldebrock, factory cast iron loose tolerance bullshit. This is high dollar, close tolerance, over kill metallurgy and specs. If there is important aspects that need heat or heat sink, it is designed to happen quick. It's not a issue. Not with these type of builds. When you race, it's not like you always have time to prep perfectly. Sometimes, you get rushed to the line. You fire it up, check your guages, get your slicks hot, hit the line, stage, hit the tranny brake, stomp the throttle, focus everything you got on the dying second amber and let the fucker go. Warm or a little cold, that motor will not give a fuck. It's built to go. It's not delicate. In fact, babying it would be risking a problem. Anyway, I don't see how you get 24 likes on a statement like that, unless y'all are just spectators. These engines, are bad ass. But it's not self destructive like top fuel. You race for a day or weekend, change the oil, run your inspections, make any adjustments or tweaks needed and it's ready for another weekend of pounding the throttle and the motor is very happy. That's the truth. What you said, is not true.

@@FIVE-0-APOCALYPTO warming up a motor isn't considered babying it. While spinning a bearing would be one of my last concerns on a cold motor, revving the piss out of one is just stupid. It's not like you need to warm the engine up for 10 minutes right before you race but it is important to heat soak it before racing begins.

And you will scoff the shit out of the pistons. Really, you should have hired a blown alcohol crew chief or someone knowledgeable to show you the ropes before you started this project. As old as this video is im guessing you have probably figured it out be now, maybe the hard way.
