Alcatraz - Indian Occupation/Protest - 1969

Behind-the-scenes footage of the Occupation and non- violent protest by Native Americans, back in 1969. Reclaiming their land from the U.S. Government. It lasted for many months, but was not really reported on as a serious situation, as can be seen from the footage. FootageWorld.com maintains more material on this subject.

I was living on Treasure Island Naval Base when this began and saw Alcatraz practically everyday that it wasn't foggy. I felt great sympathy for the Native Americans, and very troubled by all the bad publicity they were getting. I was also witness to the riots in Oakland before moving to TI. Seems like we've never learned anything but how to hate...I don't hate anyone, whatever your ethnicity or skincolor, we are all Human. Peace and Love to you all!

@bigtipiboy, are you a Native Indian? If so, then Shalom & Peace from Chieftan Anacaona from the Island of Ayiti; she was lynched by colonial back-stabbing demonic spaniards. Also, do you recall the accidental death of the children of Richard while on alcatraz. If you're caucasian, be aware that this sordid nation called america is about to burn in hell for her crimes against humanity. Be Blessed, Peace & Shalom,

diddymuck That's not the point buddy. There's no point in giving it back to them if it's not for the right reason. Don't give it back because "it's crap anyway", just give it back because it's their land from the beginning.

every nation and its people did sin. you cant say the your Indian tribes and your people did sin too cause i know you guys and gals did too. we will all pay for our sins in the end but America will not burn because of certain people that did commit sin. Thats all i have to say. by the way my ancestor was pocahontas and i respect the American indians.

No one ever claimed indian people were innocent prior to european contact. You sound like you have a guilty conscious
