We get an annular eclipse one hour after the mass ascension ends and then get a balloon glow during the day with it being dark enough this year

OH MY GOSH!!!! This is beyond incredible!! I have always wanted to go to the AIBF but now I REALY want to go!! The quality on this is breathtaking. I have never seen anything like it. Has @cannon seen this??

Aww, thank you Sarah! We have been to AIBF 3 times now, I would absolutely recommend going and seeing it in person.

I was there in 1993&4. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! I've seen balloons before, but, WOW!!!

You're killing me, Smalls! Last year, IMMEDIATELY after the 2019 Fiesta ended, we made our reservations for this year. We were so excited to be FINALLY going to the festival! And now....(cue the disappointed Wha-wha sound). Now YOU'RE torturing us with the most beautiful footage! No fair, Matt! Seriously, though, this was absolutely gorgeous footage - thanks for sharing. Now I'm even MORE determined to get to the fiesta!!

Aww, shucks! Yeah, that's unfortunate that the Balloon Fiesta is cancelled this year. But I hope you will be able to go next year or some other year, because it's definitely worth it.

I remember my first time going. Like nothing else you will ever see. The is the yearly event that Kodak film called this the worlds most photographed event.

I'm curious, what shutter speed and interval did you use for the time lapses?

This video was a compilation of many different time lapses and had all different shutter speeds and intervals. When balloons are actively being inflated and are rising up it probably was a half a second interval. When balloons are further away in the distance it was more like a 5 second interval. Plus in the postproduction I sped up some of the time lapses.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, lived there 21 years, and attended many balloon fiestas... Great job on capturing so many great shots, especially since the weather doesn't always cooperate.

I just attended my first hot air balloon set up and fly event and it was so cool. Nothing near the size of the one in this video though. Being that close to the process made me a bit nervous but it was so interesting to see the amount of work and effort it takes to get these babies off the ground. This event though, I can't imagine seeing this many balloons in the air at one time.. just so beautiful.. and magical. It'd literally take my breath away! Thank you for this video!

Excellent job, very well done, this one should go viral in my opinion.
