We loved this lesson. It was so interesting to learn more about Durer for sure, but also about St. Jerome. We noticed in the progression of pictures you shared of St. Jerome with the lion it seemed that the lion actually gradually begin to resemble Durer in some of the later prints. I suppose this could be our imaginations running wild too, but it was definitely an engaging lesson! Thank you so much!

The lion resembling Durer is an interesting observation. Durer's self-portraits are fascinating studies and I'm hoping to do a series on those because they are so much more than just portraits. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he added a bit of himself to the lion image.

I love learning about engraving. Do you have any woodcut engraving videos?

Me too! Thanks for commenting. The only other one in video form is Durer's Rhinoceros, which is actually two videos. One tells the backstory and the other looks at the print. Here is the link to the video...www.kellybagdanov.com/2019/02/15/durers-rhinoceros-where-science-and-imagination-meet/ I've also written about Durer's Nativity woodcuts on my website, where I look at several different woodcuts. www.kellybagdanov.com/2017/12/15/albrecht-durer/ And if you like woodcuts, one of my favorite, and often unknown items is prayer nuts. Tiny miniature engravings, they are fascinating. Here is a short video on those. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJVsx7GFe9O9mtI.html
