    Corey has perfectly captured Albert King's style. He did a lot with just a few licks. I saw Albert perform at the FIllmore East in the early 70s. I also saw B.B. King there. I never saw Freddie King. Maybe Corey will give a B.B. King lesson sometime.

    Albert was the king, anyone wishing to learn SRV shoud start with Albert first, get all those little nuances under your fingers before going for the Albert on steriods (ie SRV). Fantastic lesson as usual Corey, so important to know what licks to play over what chords, a big thumbs up.

  • @coreycongilio

    @coreycongilio

    3 жыл бұрын

    One way is to Think of the song as being in Bb major. The Bb is the 1 chord. The Gm is the 6 and the Cm is the 2. The D is the 3rd which is traditionally minor but, often times that degree is major or dominant in this kind of song. Tricky to understand if one doesn’t know about keys/diatonic chord scales etc. Hope that makes sense

    You said to let you know what we might like to see taught - at the start you said lots of students don’t have good phrasing (I’m in that camp)... and then at the end, you put the lick over a swing progression.... but there was this little Baa-da-ba 4 chord I think... and I was like, shoot, he’s got phrasing on his freakin’ chords, I’m screwed.... could you do a video on like a G Blues, in different feels, but show this little chord embellishments that make your 1 4 5 sound awesome, and mine like G7 regular full bar chord, to the C7 regular bla chord, to the, you guessed it, D7 bla bla bla bla boring chord sounds. What can I do to make this little shifts of awesomeness? One other video you sorta comped on an A chord as well, played it all over the place in different flavors, and it sounded like a progression, but I think you actually just played A’s all over the place, that was awesome too... what can I do to vamp/comp like that? Thanks for your video’s. Cheers!
