It's amusing that Sansa thinks the Sunderland is named after the Rogue Prince when he is obviously named after Daemon I Blackfyre, as Sunderlands were Blackfyre supporters.

George would never tie up even one of his plotlines after ASOS, let alone five in one chapter.

I love how in the real books, Sweetrobin is one of the worst brats in Westeros, but as soon as Preston steps in, he becomes wholesome af.

I finally feel legitemately bad for Sweetrobin. The idea of him, despite seeming like a spoiled, emotional kid, has bottled up so much sorrows is heartbreaking and I'm curious as to where his story is going.

Ser Targon "the Halfwild" 6. Ser Aubrey Sunderland 7. Ser Eustace Hunter Something tell me this ragtag group might not have great names but might go on to cover themselves in glory. It does play with GRRM's ideas of knighthood and how those "risen above their station" often turn out to be the truer knights.

The people that you brought up to the eyrie are now just gonna let Littlefinger throw them out the moon door? And unbeknownst to anyone but Littlefinger and Sansa? And maybe some guards or something? How would they explain going to the eyrie and then coming back down with two fewer highborn people ? Like I said, impossible.

So the attempted rape scene is a send-off to the Bolton wedding rape scene in GoT, right? "See, we focus on the impact on Sansa, not on a male bystander - and it's not Petyr being stupid about an obvious implication of his plan, but better: he did take a risk with Alayne as a potential casualty of his plan, and probably found it acceptable, while still keeping deniability."

It's honestly incredible how similar to GRRM's writing style this sounds. It has almost the same cadence and the choice of words is also very similar.

Preston did say that he meticulously searched the Ice and Fire word search website to see if words ever appear in the story. Ex: a line had the word "charade" in it, but that never appears in the canon series so he had to use "farce" instead for the 10th time lol

Reach - Renly and the Tyrells, etc, Dorne - Myrcella with the Sandsnakes North - Robb and the Northmen Iron Islands - Euron and the Kingsmoot Vale - Sweetrobin and his guys Stormlands - Aegon with Tyrion, Illyrio, etc. I wonder what will happen with the Kingdom of the Rock.

Wow, that is an exciting twist at the end. Lots of potential drama to follow. I do get a “knights of summer” vibe, though

I'm at loss of words. I was so hyped for this chapter and probably I'll join the people who use Preston's videos as audiobooks lmao One hour of (sort of) a family reunion! I can't wait to know more about Sweet Robin, Blackfish, and Alayne! Not to mention the writing, woah! Really, congratulations everyone!

Ahhhhh, I'm squealing!!! The maester conspiracy with the true speech of white ravens, the talk of Nettles and the blood needed to ride a dragon, the debts owed to Littlefinger, Littlefinger's mistake being brought to light by Myranda, Sweetrobin showcasing his teke, the whisper of the Riverlands supporting the dragon and the Fray of Freys, and the talk of how blind the maester's are when it comes to the Dornish master plan! So many PJ videos all rearing up in this video and I am HERE FOR IT!

Going back and watching the video "littlefingers mistake" again is really fun after reading this chapter. It turns out Preston was right about everything! Although it would be funny if the fanfic he wrote disproved his own theorys instead I suppose that would keep us guessing.

I think he has changed his mind on a couple of his really old ones. I personally have been more convinced that Littlefinger is plotting a revenge rather than a fulfilment of prophecy.

This chapter was masterful - so action packed and full of intrigue and great character moments. But my absolute favorite thing is how you focused on Sweet Robin as a human being. Everyone around him is continuing to treat him as a pawn at the end, but throughout the chapter we saw more and more glimpses of his character - being sweetly excited about the white raven, trying to tell jokes, helping save Alayne from Harry - all culminating in the emotional gut-punch of his breakdown when seeing the Blackfish. You grounded the story by showing him for what he is - a scared and lonely little kid who's been bereaved and manipulated and drugged. It was so powerful. I also loved the theme of landless knights trying to secure their futures - it reminded me of the ideas about chivalry and misogyny in your 'Brienne, Gender and the Squishers' series. Randa Royce finally calling Sansa out was absolutely chilling... I loved that scene. Thanks for the excellent work everyone. This was the best chapter yet.

I think that the depiction of Maranda Royce was spot on. Honestly her confidence and whit is top notch. She is such a badass.

Sweet Robin is the only character that's shown genuine grief. What a fantastic ending of the chapter. As emotional as the red wedding.

The Daemon vs Harry tilt with Sweetrobin whispering "fly, fly, fly" is an epic scene!

That final tilt between Daemon and Harry had me going like Egg at Ashford: "Get him. Get him. KILL HIM. KILL HIM. HE'S RIGHT THERE! HE'S RIGHT THERE!"

@@Midnightsstan521 Great question, I hope Preston discusses this later. We don't know if Jon Arryn's father had any siblings or uncles with children but the Arryn line could continue through them. But it may be just as likely that house Tully or house Waynwood claim the Vale as the heir in the main Arryn line is technically half Tully and Harry is half Waynwood. That would make Edmure's son, the cousin of Robin, the heir to both Riverlands and Vale, assuming Edmure would renew his claim by birth. If not, Robin's next closest relatives are the children of Catelyn, so we might just as well end up with lady Sansa ruling Vale after all.

That being said, if Sweetrobin is a king, and even if he is not, official inheritance doesn't really matter. Littlefinger wasn't born a Whent after all yet he is the lord of Harrenhal. Sweetrobin, or anyone with an army really, can name whoever as the heir to the Vale.

With such a distant relation, I guess there would be various people with similiarly strong claims. I wouldn't be surprised if the heir after Harry is simply unclear. Succession is a mess.

The difference is, in the east the magistrates are independantly powerful. Robin is essentially surrounded by New Men. Literally everyone in this crowd is totally dependant on Robin for their positions and ambitions; the Winged Nights, hardened hedge-knights, Petyr, Sansa and Black-Fish.

I really like the connective white raven plot point. It makes Westeros's many stories really feel in the same universe.

The references to bat wings fluttering in her stomach feel a bit clumsy. Maybe as Alayne she can start off feeling butterflies of excitement, but there is a gradual shift as she grows more uneasy, maybe something like "The gentle fluttering in her stomach grew heavier, like silk to leather". Then after she is outed as Sansa, the reference can completely shift to bat wings

A Bonifer Hasty update and a Blackfish reveal at the end of an already wild chapter. Methinks this bodes well for the whole project. Thanks to all the folks who help put this together.

Just finished this for the first time and I have to say...wow. I love how the White Ravens speaking their warning to "Jon" are slowly becoming a recurring theme, and it's having different effects everywhere because so many people are named Jon. I can't wait to finally read the Sam chapter where this whole plan is set into motion. Amazing work, Preston. Truly.

These Alayne chapters started drowsy. Too many names to learn and remember! But, near the end, Alayne II started to get better. Littlefinger's entire plan crumbled by Miranda's cunning, Aegon's invasion and sheer bad luck. The end was very surprising. The attentive folks probably saw Blackfish showing up a mile away, but I'm not attentive! I loved it! The only thing I think it's weird is the knight proclaiming Sweetrobin king... it seems out of place... like a Deux Ex Machina to save Littlefinger and let him stay a player after being beaten...

I love that hasty declares for Aegon.

This was the best one yet, even roughly knowing what will happen, I was hooked.

Holy shit, I get now why you said you were looking forward to this chapter so much, Preston. This is fantastic. Not only the best chapter in the series but rivals and even surpasses some of the stuff GRRM has written. If I didn't know better I could be sure that this was written by him. Holy shit that chapter was amazing! Everyone did an amazing job and you can tell so much work went into it. Props to everyone who contributed. At the end when Waynewood (I think) said don’t you mean our king? Literally got chills it was so good!

Great job as always, I will say tho that the naming of Sweetrobin as king really seemed to come out of nowhere at the end, especially when compared to the parallel scene of Robb being named king

It makes some amount of sense if you go back to certain passages. With the kingdom in turmoil, a weakened government and a leader that suddenly has even more claims than before, creating a new king is smarter in the short term than backing another party. Preston's interpretation of Sweetrobin also seems to canonize the theory that he's a powerful telepath (he has discussed this in some of his videos before), so it's not totally outside the realm of possibility that he is influencing the people around him Euron style.

Also if notice, the first knight outside of the winged knights to bow, was Lyn Corbray. This was 100%, Valerie lords seeing dragons if they invade the riverlands

Incredible chapter ! I love it ! I'm not sure who was with Maester Colemon speaking of the white raven secret message (are supposed to know who it was and I missed it or is that intentional ?) but it was really funny to see Sansa misunderstand absolutely everything in that conversation. Daenerys being mistaken as a dornish princess is definitively not a foreshadowing about a theory of a red door lol... Great chapter ! I wonder who will rule in Sweetrobin's place. I mean, with his loss of a title and without his hostages, Littlefinger will have a hard time being obeyed by the lords declarant. The Blackfish could do it or Lord Royce but Littlefinger would probably not like that. I forgot if Catelyn knew anything about Littlefinger's treachery that she could have spoke about to her uncle... So many cool things to think about ! And let's not forget that despite Harry's death, Myranda and her father could still use what they know to blackmail Littlefinger into giving up his title of Lord Protector. A fun mess in perspective ^^

The way you threaded the sweetrobin parts with the PJ theory about him becoming a more powerful telepath even as he takes more sweetsleep was AMAZING. B-bye, Harry! (Also awesome PJ Theory lore: Miranda and the missing shoe). You all did a magnificent job with this chapter, bravo

Loved the Arya prayer list parallel - made me really think more than a lot of other parallels. Lot of twists in this chapter. I'm torn because while it makes good fiction, snail George would not stuff so much story into one chapter. However, this is the pace he would need to write at in order to finish the plot in 2 books hahaha! Surprised we didn't shade George with a line like, "Alayne suddenly recalled more innocent days when she understood not the intricacies of the rules of jousting. She could simply gawk and gape. But those were younger days. In fact, those were not Alayne's memories." Just pointing out George's lack of consistent rules lol

Question for the Q&A video: without giving away too much, could you get into Littlefinger’s smile at the end of the chapter, and any theories behind it? My theory is that he’s happy to see that a Vale army will still be marching into the Riverlands, despite the disappointing results of the tourney (from his perspective). Whether or not he ever intended to keep his word with Sansa about retaking the North, it’s clear that he at least wanted an army to move in that general direction. I could also see him smiling over the idea of being an important advisor to a new king, or maybe this goes along with any scheming regarding Dany and Aegon, but as show-Tyrion puts it: armies give you power.
