Although I'm basically an agnostic, I find Welby to be very thoughtful, low key, and humble; he seems to be completely lacking in the pomposity one often associates with figures in high positions in the clergy. It's very refreshing to hear him admit that he struggles with certain issues and does not have a clear answer. He seems like he could have a reasonable conversation with just about anyone.

Are you serious?? JW does not know the Word of God...he is leading the CoE down a very serious path ....by blessing same sex marriages which the Bible does not agree with. Marriage is a Holy act between one man and one woman. Adam did not have relationship with another man nor did Eve with another woman. God created man and woman to come together to bring about mankind. JW either does not know the Scriptures or has decided to use his own ideas. And regards the other person in this interview I wonder does he know the Scriptures either....what about having a born again Christian having an interview with him.....one who knows the Scriptures

I really find the Archbishop of Canterbury fascinating, well-read, not pompous in anyway at all. Infact humility is the description I would use. An extremely intelligent, wise & genuinely honest man (quite frightening and, one would understand why I said that if you listen to all the conversations they had) and yet quite witty. I love his explanation of the Scripture Romans that Alistair Campbell mentioned that his sister read that morning and then asked him to expand on, and his explanation of God's love for all humans regardless whether you are an atheist or not with other examples is telling. I love and have deep respect for him.

I only watched halfway through but it's an interesting interview with both interviewer and interviewee being as honest as possible with their questions and answers. However, it's interesting how Justin Welby addressed the questions intellectually (rather than from the heart) on the whole, avoids some questions and actually contradicts himself a couple of times ('I'm going to heaven' vs 'Deciding whether someone goes to heaven or not is above my paygrade'). It's obvious that he doesn't understand how it all works, but at least he admits so, and his heart is in a good place.

Alistair Campbell interviewed like he'd never had an in-depth talk with a Christian before. ANY Christian. It seemed like he asked questions to try and unnerve Welby, not have a conversation. '"Didn't you have a breakdown?".....and "Yes I know you lost a child..." he said dismissively. Welby handled it honestly and met him with grace, which is much more than can be said for Campbell.

Clergy should be respected, despite in the many years of war, soldiers laughing at the Padre who always had an official position in Army (Captain) they would always respect him and, when the jokes went to hard, an Office would step it. The British Army has had padres/pastors for 400+ years. They are immensely respected and in the battlefield all troops respect them. Don't forget your culture and its foundation(s).

I've seen that said about aliens and for me that is more terrifying. What you're saying isn't a matter of God or no God. It's more a matter of what happens when you die because the truth of the matter is that none of the thousands of Gods throughout human history have ever had any impact on the earth aside from human believing. You're just worried about if you'll meet some sort of God after death or if you'll fade into black, the latter being more realistic. You have issues with dealing with death. I'd suggest you come to terms with it as it happens to us all

You don't go to people and ask if there is a God. You go to God. The only way for you to get to God to listen to you is to have the realisation that his Son took your sin and nailed it on that cross. Pray to Jesus that He will show you the Truth of Himself in your life.

Intriguing that Welby didn’t refer to Pope John-Paul II’s work ‘Theology of The Body’ that walks through the entire issue of human sexuality within a Christian context, it’s dilemmas and the response and compassionate support it requires of the Christian churches and humanity as a whole. Stunning life story from Welby. Love the daydreaming observation. Love how appalling Campbell’s research was at times 😂 The mention of Black Dog also shows a whole element of understanding and compassion. Campbell’s fervent sister must be a real treasure too.
